To-do list:

- Britain and Germany are still finished, please give Britain and Germany their rifle units and the Jagdbat for Germany.
- balance.x does not reference other unique cannon units. This needs to be fixed on the double.
- Palace Complex is outstanding, neither Spain nor Russia have access to it.
- MIC is not done .... yet.
- Green Wonders have not received their techs.

Foreign Legion is now finally available for France!
- Covers the same old slot as the Swiss, albeit at the Presidio. Not very strong, but still powerful enough owing to its reasonable armour (Swiss should disappear since the unit upgrades to Republican Guard, then Rifle Infantry/Chassepot).
o This means that for human players to get them, they must first research away Rifle Infantry/Chassepots to be physically able to click away and train them.
- Voltigeurs and Chasseurs updated, so they are more dangerous now. Note that balance.x does not tell cannon to damage them less, although most melee cavalry can kill them easily.

Thus far:

- British Red Coats, Green Jackets finalised
- Russian Plastuny added and finalised.
- Voltigeurs adjusted and finalised.

Our work still continues......

- Torpedo boat, Hunley. Toro, Huascar missing/unconfirmed.
- Peru needs Legion/Guarnicion de Marina
- Cancel Atirador for Portugal
- Jagers, Schutzens not done. Neither are German units.

NB - The number of UUs used by Britain and Russia is dangerously high.

So wht's still up?

- Light infantry not sorted yet - we only covered Industrial era units but nothing's been done in full.
- Alignment of Yongying infantry not done, suggest it stay at the Temple, since the Republican Guard, Zouaves and whatnot were originally meant to be Temple units.

In this update:

- Irish Brigade moved over to Barracks, since it's used heavily by factions with no early game light infantry (mainly Hispanic nations and India).
- Yongying, Zouaves, Redshirts added. We figured that there was no danger from overlap because the units do not hog the same upgrade line as conventional line/light infantry.
- Positions of Carlista infantry, Activos finalised.
- Regimental cossack added but has no icon.

This mod is in the process of being tested, and there are rumours of bugs. We need you, dear players, to try this mod out, and to record down any bugs that take place during gameplay.

For now, it is in effect a playable fork of Rise of the Moderns: Ultima Ratio, which can be accessed at https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1437322150

No major changes, ie no new units or structures have been added beyond what is currently available with Ultima Ratio. But that may change between Chinese New Year and Easter 2022.....

Torpedo boats are now available to all, except Texas, Denmark, Morocco and Naples.

Balance.x has been rewritten, with some changes including:

o Light infantry are more impervious to cannon shot.
o Cannon is lethal against other siege weapons, particularly Flying Artillery.
o Fire ships and Torpedo boats are now more devastating against wooden vessels (the Dutch Hellebrander is especially effective) but are very vulnerable to shore defence buildings.
o Non-ironclad surface vessels take longer to destroy certain fortifications.

Light infantry are (mostly) done for the two Ages of this mod. French, British and Russian rosters expanded - with France now recruiting Foreign Legion units from the Presidio. Expect the updates on this mod to slacken in pace, once Peru gets the Huascar and Guarnicion de Marina units.

A new modern unit system for China is being put in place. China will no longer recruit cheap infantry in the late game, rather it will still be a cavalry-heavy civ like Russia, Mexico, America and Iran.

Thanks to declan1542 (and a very good stroke of luck) we figured out that the crashes were being caused by corrupt animation data. I've since figured it out, through a good deal of brute force, and replaced the data. The game seems to work fine now.

Rewrote the entire core from scratch. It is still incomplete and untested, in that I wish to flatten unit tech trees for [3] and [4] further to prevent the probability of a crash.

Fort and merc units have been purged. I have long suspected that a flaw in unitrules.x has been wreaking havoc on people's games and I want to find out what it is before I start adding units back in.

Unfortunately, the bug is still around but thanks to a Papal States/Lakota matchup, I noticed that the game began to freeze the moment Rifle Infantry opened fire. I must investigate to see if this is the case.

After a gruelling 24 hours where we did all sorts of things - data corruption checks, verification and reinstallation, this mod is back in business. We looked through various files, and in addition to restoring several files, we also edited anim_graphics.x and transferred legacy RKC and AXP files to their appropriate location.

Added Sowar cavalry, as a merc, but discovered that the lancer unit I used for the Spanish colonial lancers is also defective. I have since fixed it, but feel other units need to be fixed.

LIGHT INFANTRY, redux.

- finaliosed all entires for Industrial Era light infantry in XLS format.
- uenit stats need to be inputted into unitrules,x and we will be done.

SO WHAT IS NEEDED NOW?

- British Highlanders : recruited from the Speakeasy not the Tavern. Because, duh.
o Units are somewhat similar to Russian Plastuny.
o Reinstate Irish Brigade for British.
-Once British enter the Industrial Era, this unit is unified under the Barracks as a convention line unit (2)
- Snipers eventually appear in slot 2 at the Barracks. Flamers come from the Armoury.
- Wiki stats also need updating.

Testing of new light inf graft system for Sardinia (Italy, uses 18th century Chasseurs) and France (uses 19th century Voltigeurs) successful.
