This will tell you what to expect out of the special units, what to expect out of the playstyle, and what victory conditions to expect to dominate with.

Victory Conditions
If you really didn't want to watch the video I'll give a quick rundown of what you probably should be thinking if you are randomly paired up with the Polish or are just new to Civilization and think they would be fun to play!


Victory Conditions

  • Culture
    Perhaps one of the best traits that the Polish have - is a Cultural Victory. This is generally based off of the fact that they receive a free Social Policy each time they enter a new Era. Now, granted there are only a handful of Era's throughout the game, it's more than what any other Civilization will get. Add this into the equation with Aesthetics Social Policy track with other Culture generating Policies and you'll soar will the best of them. Remember to choose the Tradition Social Policy as well as it synergies very well with Aesthetics for a somewhat easy Cultural Victory. Highly Recommended.

  • Domination
    The Polish have a fantastic unqiue unit called the Winged Hussar which will wreck other Civilizations in defense and offense. If it inflicts more damage than takes damage it'll make the unit retreat or just deal even more damage to that unit - this can wreck other Civilizations armies outright. It can also mean that your nation will be heavily protected during their time period. Unfortunately, after that period they do not have a unique advantage. Recommended.

  • Science
    As any nation that can dominate in a Domination Victory - Poland has a fair chance at a Scientific Victory. Remember that if you are having trouble with Happiness while you are conquering to obtain more land/cities to just burn the cities that do not produce anything good to your nation. Generally, as Poland you'll want to stay small considering you have a good shot at a Cultural Victory so it may be somewhat difficult to keep up in Science. If you are throwing a Cultural Victory out the window and going for Domination then I'd recommend going for this. Somewhat Recommended.

  • Diplomatic
    Poland has no personality trait that really helps them Diplomatically unless you choose the Patronage tree. The Patronage tree isn't a bad idea to invest Policies into since you'll have extra happiness convert into culture. Towards a Diplomatic Victory the Patronage tree will win the game for you anyhow, considering you'll get more bonus' from City-States and will be able to be allied with them more easily. Somewhat Recommended.
Social Policies
Won't get into as depth as the Victory Conditions only because Social Policies can usually go anyway for any Civ and still win. Will only note those that are very important to each Civ.
  • Tradition
    Since Poland will have a very good chance at winning Culturally staying small is somewhat recommended. You'll want to generate as much Culture as you can. With Tradition you'll be able to build Wonders 15% quicker, boast a higher population, more defensive in cities, and have a little more happiness. The extra Social Policy you'll receive between Era's is the reason to strive for this.

  • Aesthetics
    For those looking to put the nail in the coffin as in terms of a Cultural Victory Aesthetics is the way to go. You'll receive extra generation for Great Writers, Artists, Musicians, unlock the Uffizi, a free Great Artist, construct culture generating buildings 50% quicker, extra culture for excess Happiness, and reduces the Culture cost of future polices by 10%. This one is very important to get if you are looking to win Culturally. Without it, it can be quite the struggle to compete with other Civilizations that have it. Thanks to Justinian for the input for this to be added!
The rest are really up to you on how you're playstyle will be for policies, Tradition for hunkering down with few cities - Honor for cutting down enemies early on - Liberty for expanding like a mad-man but again, that goes for any Civ, not just the Polish.
Factoids
  • Poland was founded in 966 by Mieszko I, who belonged to the Piast dynasty.

  • Major trading partners are Germany, France, UK, Italy, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Russia, China, & France.

  • Most of the country is a plain with no natural boundaries except the Carpathian Mountains in the south and the Oder and Neisse rivers in the west.

  • Poland, a country the size of New Mexico, is in north-central Europe.

I know, but it's the way you implied it - besides that, it is just irrelevant to anything. I'm calm and haven't lost any sleep, got my 8 hours worth to be exact but regardless I just don't understand as to why it was necessary to mention something as silly as that.

I don't even understand as to why you'd comment on something like that. Something so silly, so I'll have to give you something even sillier.

That would be the definitions use of my use of the definition. Those facts are insignificant to the whole of this guide - it's there to spark interest or curiosity. It's not there to be criticized upon the definition. Lastly, trust me, those facts are not false unless you want to prove to me that Poland isn't about the size of New Mexico and is rather all of China.
