Video of how to play England.
This will tell you what to expect out of the special units, what to expect out of the playstyle, and what victory conditions to expect to dominate with.

Victory Conditions
Hello, if you really didn't want to watch the video I'll give a quick rundown of what you probably should be thinking if you are randomly paired up with the English or are just new to Civilization and think they would be fun to play!

Victory Conditions

  • Domination
    By far the best route to go as England if you get a map with many islands or even small continents considering the personality trait. You'll be able to outmaneuver any other Civilization in the sea. Outside of the sea you'll get the Longbowman that will extent the range that they have which can benefit on defense and offense. It's worth noting that the Longbowmans range increase WILL roll over if you are to upgrade them to Gatling Guns as well! Dominate the sea and set up defensively equates to a power that is solid. Highly recommended.

  • Scientific
    As many of my other guides - I generally recommend a highly dominate sea faring Civilization to go for a Scientific victory as well. Sure, they do not have any "passive" abilities to help win scientifically but generally if you are near coasts you're in business for this victory. Why is that? Commerce tree helps out sevenfold with this and you're making money which helps. England has a strong chance at this victory. Recommended.

  • Diplomatic
    Not a fan of becoming a bloodthirsty Brit nor becoming a brainaic? Not to worry.... well not really. A diplomatic victory isn't impossible but unfortunately I wouldn't strive for this. It'd be more or less a last resort option if it's viable for you. Considering you'll be the master of the seas you should be able to find everyone very quickly on a map with ocean tiles barring one another. If you are attempting the Domination victory and then want to switch to this chances are you are doomed. Not recommended.

  • Cultural
    Sure, England has some neat culturally interesting aspects in the real world. Unfortunately, England is plagued by a history of successfull conquests so they'll have a hard time winning culturally. There is not any real benefits for England in terms of a Cultural victory. You're going to be on coastal tiles to ensure your benefitting from your personality trait so culture is something that will be somewhat difficult to obtain. Not recommended.
Social Policies
Won't get into as depth as the Victory Conditions only because Social Policies can usually go anyway for any Civ and still win. Will only note those that are very important to each Civ.
  • Commerce
    England is a prime example of what Civilization to choose for Commerce considering they are the masters of the sea. You should have many coastal cities - with that said Commerce will give you tons of perks for this. You'll obtain more gold, science, happiness so why wouldn't you want this? You'll have to wait until the Medevil era in order to start putting points into this, but when it allows you to start I would recommended to do so as soon as possible. Highly recommended.
The rest are really up to you on how you're playstyle will be for policies, Tradition for hunkering down with few cities - Honor for cutting down enemies early on - Liberty for expanding like a mad-man but again, that goes for any Civ, not just the English.
Factoids
  • The English consume more tea per capita than any other country in the world: three times that of Japan and an unbelievable twenty-two times more than America or France.

  • The world’s first public zoo opened in London in 1829.

  • The bank of England is one of the few with its own nickname: The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street.

  • Before the invention of the mechanical clock in the 14th century, the most complex machine in Europe (and perhaps the world) was a pipe organ in the cathedral in Winchester, England, completed in around 950AD. It had 400 pipes, and 70 men were needed to operate its 26 bellows.

  • Queen Berengaria, the wife of Richard the Lion-Heart, never set foot on English soil – she instead ruled from Italy and France.

In the expansion packs English ironclads become monsterous, they can be capable of 14 movement points in coastal waters.

@Grunty

Yeesh, people take the Factoid section so seriously when it comes to the definition of the word. It's facts, so don't worry, I didn't make the things up while I was exploring Mars.

@Mal Culo

Was just a preset I had for my YouTube Channel as I usually do other things than Civ, but you're right, it's not on consoles - just PC.

A factoid is a lie disguised as a fact for comedy. Example: elephants have trunks because they came from a planet that required them to breath the oxygen that sunk to the floor because of the gravity of the planet

Why is the name of the video
"Civilization 5- England Gameplay/Walkthrough 1080p! PC/Xbox360/PS3"? Civilization isn't on consoles.
