Paint-N-Tweaks

Beskrivning
This is the successor to one of my earliest mods, Paintable Spots & Objects. It includes many of the same features, adds new ones, and completely reworks the system under the hood.

No longer requires Vanilla Expanded Framework or the Ideology DLC – only Harmony is needed.

Paintable Building Base
Rather than constantly patching every building or mod individually, I now patch the building base itself. This makes nearly all buildings – including modded ones – paintable automatically.

However, not every building in the base game is designed to be recolored. Some have pre-colored textures with no masks, which limits what paint can do. To improve this, I’ve edited many core and modded textures to be white and added masks to allow proper recoloring.

There are still a few cases that need manual patching, but it’s far fewer than before.



Spot Color & Opacity
Instead of making all spots fully paintable like the old mod, this version introduces a custom coloring system. All spots and sleeping spots can now:

• Change their color
• Set opacity to 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 10%, or 0%

This is done through C# code and automatically applies to any core or modded spot that includes "spot" in its label.

Gray Spots
All spots now appear gray in the architect menu to better display your selected color. They also come with improved icons to make them easier to identify.
When placed, all spots start with a gray color and 50% opacity by default.

Bed Sheet Color
Using the same system, beds now support separate coloring for the bed sheets. Works on both core and modded beds.
You can still recolor the bed frame as usual.
To reset a bed’s color, simply toggle it to medical and back.

Paint all Selected
Added a small new feature that allows you to paint multiple selected objects at once.
Select multiple objects or walls, etc., then right-click the normal paint tool, and you can now click "Paint all Selected".
This works very well with the mod Allow Tool, where you can select all walls in your base, etc., and then now paint all at once.

Other Additions
Added a recipe at the Biofuel Refinery to craft Synthetic Dye (normal dye) using chemfuel:
• 10x Chemfuel → 1x Dye
Useful as an alternative if you have excess chemfuel and no crops.

Compatibility Notes
May give warnings (NOT ERRORS) if using other texture mods that replace same textures as i also add maskes to make them paintable.

Update Log
14-08-2025
Fixed that Medical sometimes lost its sheet color.
Fixed so you now can change sheets on multiple selected beds.

Fixed so hidden objects are not paintable.
Think i fixed the transparent default bed sheet, may need more testing.

Fixed an xml errors if not using the mod Dubs Bad Hygiene.
Added paint patch for Dubs Bad Hygiene Lite.
Added clean spot texture for Run and Hide (Continued).
Updated a few of the core spot textures.
Made a few more clean/white core buildings textures.

Thank you for your patience.

I've never used RimPy; I've heard of it but I don't know what it is. I shall try what you've suggested.

To explain it.
At some point you have used RimPy i guss?

It make some .dds files that are texture files that load faster then normal.
But the game has updated how it works so those files don't work any more.

So to be use all is clean.
Un-sub to the mod, go ind manuel and delete the whole mod folder for this mod.
And then re-sub the mod again so it download all the new files.

That will fix the problems from this mod.
If you still get dds errors there might be other mods that have the same problem.

Sorry, I'm still confused. Do I delete every .dds file? There seem to be a lot of them. Also, weirdly, some of them show in my Explorer window with the GIMP icon and some don't, and I don't know why that is.

Look in the mod folder under steam, and find the .dds files and delete them. its texture files. and if you have some old once they do not work.

Hiya. I came here to report an error and I see some other people have reported it too. I can also see people talking about 'DDS files' but I've no idea what those are or what they do; my technical knowledge of mods and coding is minimal.

I was missing the multi-analyzer texture too -- finding and deleting the relevant DDS file in the mod folder did fix it for me, though.

I have still not been able to find any problems, its there and work fine every time i test with it.
So my only though is you have a mod that conflict or have some bad dds files.

Can confirm the multianalyzer sprite is broken for me as well with this mod. It's a big grey square with a red question mark on it now.
