Comprehensive Map

Description
Comprehensive Map - Alpha v0.3 - More Asian provinces

All previous releases are in this collection

Experience Europa Universalis IV with expanded vanilla map!

Key Features:
- Vanilla-Based Expansion
This mod enhances the existing map without altering the classic map projection. Enjoy the familiar world with added depth and detail.

- Massive Map Expansion
Over 700 new provinces in Europe and over 700 provinces in Asia (except for Indian subcontinent) to enhance gameplay while maintaining excellent performance. In total, 1449 new provinces were introduced.

- Regional Overhauls
The first expansion focuses on Ruthenia and adjacent regions, introducing:
  • New tags and subject types.
  • Updated missions.
  • Events and decisions to establish Zaporozhian Sich (ZAZ).
  • Fixes to the infamous Neumark event.

- Compatibility-Focused Design
Built for maximum compatibility with other mods:
  • Selectively overrides files (e.g., east_slavic and slavic culture groups only).
  • Avoids introducing new mechanics for a seamless vanilla experience.

Great mods that are compatible with Comprehensive Map
As of 17/01/2025, the following mods are compatible with Comprehensive Map (and there is a very high chance they will be compatible in the future):

Currently Religions and Cultures Expanded is compatible but it may become incompatible in the future (e.g. game will start properly but Comprehensive Map cultures will be missing). I will try to watch for such changes and make a compatch if needed. At the moment Comprehensive Map changes just east_slavic and slavic culture groups which are not affected by Religions and Cultures Expanded.

Basically all mods in Expanded Mod Family are compatible!

Recommended graphical mods

First Expansion Pack: Ruthenia Overhaul
The Ruthenia Expansion Pack adds rich historical flavor and depth to the region with:

- Autonomous Principalities Under Lithuania
Released Kyiv, Volhynia, and other Ruthenian principalities as semi-independent fiefs under Lithuania. Historically, these lands were ruled by autonomous vassals—some even having been Grand Dukes of Lithuania themselves!

- New Subject Type: Fief
Represents a looser form of dependence than vassalage. Used for regions like Volhynia, Kyiv, Novhorod-Siverskyi, and Starodub, reflecting their high levels of autonomy.

- Flavour for the Zaporozhian Sich
This unique country is now more likely to emerge. It can form:
  • Historically in 1550 under Dmytro Vyshnevetsky.
  • Spawned by any slavic/east_slavic culture group country or by Poland, Lithuania, or the Commonwealth if they hold key provinces in the region. Reflects the historical settlement of Ruthenian borderlands to defend against Tatar raids.

- New Tags
Additional tags such as Halychia, which can be released for further historical immersion.

- East Slavic Cultural Overhaul
  • Expanded east_slavic culture group with new subcultures: Polesian, Severian, Volhynian, Halychian, and more.
  • New subcultures added to other East Slavic cultures for enhanced diversity.

- Improved Missions
  • Updated and fixed base Ruthenian missions, ensuring all missions are achievable.

- Neumark Event Fix
Now properly cedes all provinces in the Neumark area.

Credits and Inspirations:
This mod is heavily based on the incredible work of EmpireUniversalis, while reworking and reintegrating Asia with the vanilla game.

Future Plans:
This is just the beginning! The next steps include further European overhauls (Ruthenia, Poland, Romania, Scandinavia, Novgorod, Scotland) and integration of high-quality mods to expand Africa, Asia, and other continents.

I think Ming's provinces have been added too much, and AI Oirat is almost unable to defeat Ming .
ZeKomanda  [author] 8 hours ago
@Life Well, it kinda supposed to be. Ming really struggles with autonomy and gov cap on start so it's fairly limited in usage of it's own resources.
Anyway, I will try to balance things once the map is stable enough. Would you like to create a steam discussion regarding Ming balancing?

In v0.3, it is difficult for nomadic tribes to defeat Ming.

@VFacure Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I missed LiT too

@Saul Goodmann I would say it's out of scope of this mod as I try to focus on tags that were historically present in 1444-1821.
However, it can be put into some submod

@ZeKomanda About Beyond Typus and Atlas Novum, I agree completely. LiT also did a great trade-region job IMO. Thank you so much for this mod, I'm playing right now and this with the expanded mods and europa expanded really solved my LiT craving.

This is just a far of suggestioon and tbh dont esxpect it to be implementet but what would you guys think if there was a tag that had a decision to reform Alexander the Greats Empire?

Pushed an update that fixes compatibility issue with Development Points.

@VFacure Unfortunately any trade region mod won't be compatible as it doesn't know anything about newly added provinces.
Once the whole map is stable a bit, I would update trade regions too. The approach would be to add new trade regions without removing vanilla ones. I think what Atlas Novum or Beyond Typus do with trade regions is quite cool. Probably I will take inspiration from one of those mods

Is there are mod for additional trade regions that you reccomend?
