Hello everyone! We're back again with a check-in update for this November. Thank you for all the kind comments and inquiries in the previous check-in! That means a lot to us!

Because of what recently happened this month, majority of the check-in will be about the site.


As you all know, almost everyone had trouble accessing the Astats website. Something like that should have fixed itself, but apparently it didn't. We found out the webhost had trouble updating the dns servers. We were able to contact the webhost and was able to sort this out.

We will still keep the announcement of troubleshooting on accessing the Astats site in case anyone has any problems when it is actually up.

Speaking of that, the link to astats has been updated with "https" instead of "http." If you bookmark the site or use a quick fill-in to access the site, you might want to double check to be sure it is https instead of http for security reasons.


Let's cut to the chase, shall we? The most annoying thing everyone in Astats experience is when the crawler is down and/or stalling (other than the site being down...). The good news is we have a code built in that resets the crawler when it hangs. The bad news it isn't foolproof, meaning something more serious causing it. While we're doing our best to keep the site in shape, especially with the update, we're hoping to create a better, easier way for us to make sure it stays running.


Valve has finally responded to the Rare Achievement Showcase Bug. Could this hint that the achievement system will be updated? That would be pretty nice.

Just a heads up for those who still have an appeal thread up: please check on your appeal status to see if a moderator has posted anything.

We have a lot of appeals dating back months with no response. We may have to close those appeals if we do not receive a response. If a moderator posted and you responded, just be patient.


Finally we have an appropriate up-to-date list of Administrators and Moderators on our groups after the staff changes that were made.


Yeah I know I said it was the last thing to do on our list, but we do have a draft of an updated profile page for those on AStats. Before we get to that, remember how you couldn't change your e-mail on your Astats settings and had to wait for an admin? Now you can do it on your own!

(We are still aware of our site having problems. I wish I could give you guys an update but so far we have nothing :( )

EDIT: After further research, it seems like that the webhost is the source of the problems. We apologize for this and we have contacted the webhost about it.

Hello everyone! First off, thank you for your patience and thanks for being a member on Astats! Second, sorry for the connection issues of the site.

We may have pinpointed the issue of the site, which in this case our DNS may not be updated enough to have a good connection to the site.

While normally issues like this fix itself for the user, it may take longer for some, so I'll be posting two possible troubleshooting methods that may solve the issue.

Quick Fix (May be temporary):

You can access the site currently by going here:

This is recommended only if you just want to access the site and not log in. If you try to log in through Steam, you will have to enter your credentials again. At first, you may get "Taking too long to respond" but keep trying and you should go through. If not, you may continue below.

Troubleshooting #1: Clear DNS cache.

This is a simple command you can do in command prompt. This is also useful if you have difficulties accessing usual sites.

Troubleshooting #2: Clear browser cache

If you are able to access Astats with a different browser, but not your usual one, please try clearing your cache. (This will also help speed your browser and computer a bit.)

Troubleshooting #3: Restart router

This is an easy thing to do. Simply power off your router, wait a few seconds, then power it back on. If that doesn't work, try disconnecting your modem and router, wait 10 minutes, then connect and turn everything on.

Troubleshooting #4: Use a different DNS Server

You may want to weigh your options on doing this. If you've been having problems with other sites and not just astats, it is recommended to do this. However, if astats is the only issue, it's best not to do this. Otherwise, your choice.

After "Building Custom List" and running the benchmark, the list is color-coded.
Solid Green - Current server
Green Hole - Good
Orange - Hijacking (bad. you do not want this.)
Red - Dead, unresponsive, or private (you don't want this either)
Blue circle around color - either ipv4 or ipv6, not both. (You don't want this either.)

As stated before, this is recommended if you have trouble accessing other sites and not just Astats.

Troubleshooting #5: Wait it out

Problems like this 95 percent of the time just fix itself. At most, it will take a week for it to settle. If your internet is fine and you don't want to fool with it (especially if you had bad luck in the future), that is fine. In the mean time, we will do our best to make sure we provide all possible options to access the site.

Hello everyone!

We are aware of the messages we are getting about the website being down. It appears to some it has been mostly down, and for some it's either up or down at random times.

We hope the downtime won't be too long and will be fixed asap.

In the meantime, here's a little trick you can do to see if there is really a problem or if it is just your browser.

On Windows, open Command Prompt. You can find it in the Accessories folder or just search for "Command Prompt"

On your Macintosh, open Terminal. This is found under Applications>Utilities by default.

On Windows, type in "tracert astats.astats.nl" (without quotes)
On Macintosh type in "traceroute astats.astats.nl" (without quotes of course)

If it continues connecting to different areas to reach astats at the end, that's good news! That means you can connect to the site.

If you get a few "Request Time Out" here and there or in a row, that means there's a problem connecting to the site.

Of course you can use the tracert/traceroute commands for different sites and domains, especially when it comes to MMORPG servers!

Hey y'all. I figured I post this since this was mentioned quite a bit on Astats and 100pag. Currently the global unlock percentages and rarest achievements are glitched. While assumptions are made, there is still no official response from Steam.
