Rise and Fall

Description
CK3: Rise and Fall
Why Do We Fall? So We Can Learn to Pick Ourselves Up.

Overview
Rise and Fall is a Crusader Kings III framework that adds unpredictability, pressure, and long-form storytelling to your campaigns. It’s modular, toggleable, and built to expand.

  • Unlimited Men-at-Arms: Removes the cap for all rulers. Optional rule. The AI gets it too.
  • Legitimist Invasions: Claimants gather strength over decades. Army size scales with their stats. They strike when you’re weak… or strong.
  • Dynastic Pressure: The stronger your dynasty, the more dangerous your rivals become.
  • Persistent Claimants: Claimant armies can marry, have kids, and survive for generations. They might invade in 10, 30, or 50 years.
  • Framework-first: Built to grow with future updates.
  • Realm Stability: Dynamic realm stability that can make or break an empire. Your realm may be stable now, but get one bad ruler or a child on the throne and it may be over.
  • AI title creation: New game rule that will force the ai to make titles that are lower than them, if they are an emperor, they will still make new emperor and kingdom titles. Useful for mods like AGOT that rely on Kingdoms to function and the AI refuses to make them.
  • Warlords: When stability falls, chaos rises. Low stability can trigger major crises, like a Warlord Event inspired by the Three Kingdoms. Vassals must choose: stand by their liege or turn against them, plunging the realm into turmoil. Can the ruler hold the realm together, or will time run out and a warlord seizes the throne? Perhaps, against all odds, a mysterious benefactor will emerge to save them...

Why I Made This Mod
CK3 is brilliant. But in long campaigns things can feel too safe. Adventurer camps sit there. Big rebellions are rare. The AI lacks motivation.

When I tested with the Game of Thrones mod, I saw thirty dragonlords and not one tried for the Iron Throne. No danger. No drama.

Rise and Fall changes that. With dynamic invasions and threats that grow from the world, you get:

  • More dragon fights
  • More drama
  • More suffering for weak rulers

Whether you map paint or roleplay, this mod throws chaos and tension into your games. The world feels alive and dangerous.

Current Status
  • Early development Expect balance quirks and placeholders.
  • Initial game rules are in.
  • I’m learning CK3 scripting and expanding as I go.

Compatibility
  • Works with Vanilla and AGOT.
  • Should work with other mods but if they touch the character ui, it will interfere with the stability ui. Please note it's not balanced for mods with long lifespans like elves at the moment. If you use other UI mods that don't have a compatibility patch for this mod, you can enable the ui game rule and it will show a character's stability when you right click them.

⚠️ Load Order Tip: Place Rise and Fall at the bottom of your load order. If any mods change the character screen like AGOT and EK2, they will override this mod if it's not placed at the bottom. A Compatch will be needed for those kinds of mods. It's up to you if you want to see stability on a character screen for now.

They do not get a base of 20,000 troops to spawn with. The size of their armies scales with the strength of the kingdom. They do not inherit and attack because the camp disbands after the leaders death. Like I said previously, there’s a lot of calculations being done in the background. In the future, I will try and add a pretender chance in the character menu so you can see the percentage chance

this is not the only problem. for example, you can invite an NPC with a claim to the suzerain's court, but after a while, he will automatically leave to create his own camp and attack the suzerain after a while. it seems logical, but it is completely scripted move by your mod. or there is a feature where many members of the dynasty with no reason join the legitimist camp, live there, inherit it, and attack in the same way as the previous owner camp. again, it doesn't matter what personality traits they have. they do not recruit troops in the same way. in addition to the 20,000 troops added, there are only about 2,000-3,000 troops of other types or militias. there is zero sense from such attacks

I will add an update later to make them disband camp when they lose a war so they don't attack constantly.

in my campaign, everything was exactly the opposite of what you're writing. I understand that they wouldn't have had a chance without 20,000 soldiers, but that doesn't help them either. And when these attacks and claims happen every five years, it just makes it look ridiculous. I've written everything I could, but it seems like you didn't understand me

They spawn with special soldiers because they wouldn't stand a chance without them, the adventurer's martial stat affects how many troops they spawn with.

Hello, thanks for your feedback but the creation of the camps has a lot of calculations and it's not random at all. There are many factors that affect whether someone wants to make a legitimist revolt or not including rulers legitimacy level, the adventurers stats, the adventurers traits, etc. The adventurers do not attack for no reason, they wait until their military power is stronger than the kingdom than they invade. This mod is supposed to create a challenge and drama in this world, it's a difficulty mod. If you have a strong dynasty, you will have to deal with strong adventurers if your claim to the throne is weak, that is the price you pay with this mod.

I played this mod in agot. The idea of the mod is good, but the implementation is so-so. A camp is created with the owner who has a claim, and all the camp owner's relatives are constantly teleported there. Every 5 years or so, they attack the Iron Throne with 20,000 special soldiers that appear out of nowhere. Regardless of the attackers' qualities, such as ambition or something similar. All the times they naturally lost. I don't know if it's technically possible to make the mod better in all plans, but now it's definitely strange, ridiculous and creates some kind of absurdity

But do not worry, if you are not content with the warlord event it will be improved later on as I have a lot more features coming in.
