Rise and Fall

Description
CK3: Rise and Fall
Why Do We Fall? So We Can Learn to Pick Ourselves Up.

Overview
Rise and Fall is a Crusader Kings III framework that adds unpredictability, pressure, and long-form storytelling to your campaigns. It’s modular, toggleable, and built to expand.

  • Unlimited Men-at-Arms: Removes the cap for all rulers. Optional rule. The AI gets it too.
  • Legitimist Invasions: Claimants gather strength over decades. Army size scales with their stats. They strike when you’re weak… or strong.
  • Dynastic Pressure: The stronger your dynasty, the more dangerous your rivals become.
  • Persistent Claimants: Claimant armies can marry, have kids, and survive for generations. They might invade in 10, 30, or 50 years.
  • Framework-first: Built to grow with future updates.
  • Realm Stability: Dynamic realm stability that can make or break an empire. Your realm may be stable now, but get one bad ruler or a child on the throne and it may be over.
  • AI title creation: New game rule that will force the ai to make titles that are lower than them, if they are an emperor, they will still make new emperor and kingdom titles. Useful for mods like AGOT that rely on Kingdoms to function and the AI refuses to make them.
  • Warlords: When stability falls, chaos rises. Low stability can trigger major crises, like a Warlord Event inspired by the Three Kingdoms. Vassals must choose: stand by their liege or turn against them, plunging the realm into turmoil. Can the ruler hold the realm together, or will time run out and a warlord seizes the throne? Perhaps, against all odds, a mysterious benefactor will emerge to save them...

Why I Made This Mod
CK3 is brilliant. But in long campaigns things can feel too safe. Adventurer camps sit there. Big rebellions are rare. The AI lacks motivation.

When I tested with the Game of Thrones mod, I saw thirty dragonlords and not one tried for the Iron Throne. No danger. No drama.

Rise and Fall changes that. With dynamic invasions and threats that grow from the world, you get:

  • More dragon fights
  • More drama
  • More suffering for weak rulers

Whether you map paint or roleplay, this mod throws chaos and tension into your games. The world feels alive and dangerous.

Current Status
  • Early development Expect balance quirks and placeholders.
  • Initial game rules are in.
  • I’m learning CK3 scripting and expanding as I go.

Compatibility
  • Works with Vanilla and AGOT.
  • Should work with other mods but if they touch the character ui, it will interfere with the stability ui. Please note it's not balanced for mods with long lifespans like elves at the moment. If you use other UI mods that don't have a compatibility patch for this mod, you can enable the ui game rule and it will show a character's stability when you right click them.

⚠️ Load Order Tip: Place Rise and Fall at the bottom of your load order. If any mods change the character screen like AGOT and EK2, they will override this mod if it's not placed at the bottom. A Compatch will be needed for those kinds of mods. It's up to you if you want to see stability on a character screen for now.

I get you idea. It reminds me of how barons revolt during John I and Henry III's rule of England. But I think maybe you could change it to something like: one very powerful warlord who can secure a lot of alliances with the rest of the realm and demanding a sort of reduction or even immunity of how much their tax/levy tribute should be. I know you are trying to simulate how ambitious vassals could overthrow their liege lord and become kings themselves but historically speaking most of the time all these revolts led by powerful vassals were more inclined to secure their own benefits rather than a complete change of dynasty. And also instead of conquering everything, make these warlords secure "alliances" to those who were defeated by the war lords rather than taking away all their land. But I'm not a moder myself so perhaps it is a bit difficult to implement that. Anyway, that's my take on the mod so far, it is very good and definitely stirred up more actions in my play-through.

Hi, there's a game rule for it. Low stability events. I'm going to change it to Kingdoms or empires most likely, see if that helps. It shouldn't be that common, it's only a 0.5% chance at 30 stability with a 50% chance at 15 stability, etc. But the numbers may be to high.

I think an game rule to dictate whether the war lords should appear in either low or collapsing stages would be better. (I personally think it would be best in collapsing stage. Seeing warlords in too many realms tbh)

Obviously if you have any feedback about this warlord system, I love to hear about it in the discord server since it's still in testing phase.

Ya, whenever your stability is lower than 30 there is a chance of a low stability event firing, the only one right now is warlords. This game rule is disabled by default for now cause it's in testing, but it's supposed to simulate a warlord era happening in the country, all central authority is lost. If the vassal has a high opinion of the liege, they will give up being a warlord/choose not to be one.

Is it normal to have multiple warlords to spawn at the same time? I see 3 or 4 vassals got this trait and start invading their neighbors all at once.

This mod doesn't touch opinions, don't see any reason it won't appear, check your other mods. Works fine for me.

Offensive war debuff is not appearing at all - not sure if that is intended? Great mod btw.

Their income and strength scale with the country they plan to invade

The adventures goes around with 200k on them earning 1k every month out of no where. Im not sure if i have other mods that conflicts with this mod, but its still pretty funny seeing Bizantium getting invaded by claiments all the time.
