Description
This mod can be installed mid-game.
All features can be enabled or disabled anytime and only affect player.
Compatible with game version 1.10.
Note that this mod generally doesn't require updates for new game versions.

Auto-recruit commanders
  • Auto-recruit commanders when there are not enough commanders.

  • The recruited commander number, preferred interest group and recruited rank will follow the same settings as in "One-Click Recruit" (see below).

  • To make sure a newly recruited commander's order is always decided carefully during a war, the recruiting will stop during an on-going diplomatic play.

Recruit commanders for all formations by one click
  • Recruit generals/admirals for every army/fleet simply by clicking a button.

  • Three options for controlling how many commanders will be recruited.

    Enough: Recruit just enough commanders according to formation size.

    Extra: Recruit one extra commander after recruiting enough commander, so organization won't drop when a commander dies.

    Full: Make sure every formation has 4 commanders.

  • Set the minimum formation size for recruiting. Formations whose size is smaller than this number will be ignored while recruiting commanders.

  • Commanders will be recruited based on the vanilla generation rules, e.g., if landowners has more clout then more landowners commanders will be recruited.

  • Besides the vanilla generation rules, the chance of recruiting a commander from a IG can be modified by "Interest groups preference" (see below).

Interest group preference
  • Set interest group preference for recruiting and promoting.

  • This increases the chance of recruiting commanders from the preferred IGs.

  • Intelligentsia, Industrialists and Trade Union get more additional chance than other IGs do when they are preferred and have less than 4 generals or 4 admirals.

  • Armed Forces, Intelligentsia and Trade Union has small chance bonus to get some nice traits when they are preferred IGs, e.g., traits that increase popularity and combat abilities. The traits also vary according to the IGs, e.g., Armed Forces are more likely to get combat-related traits.

One-click promote commanders of preferred IGs
  • Promote all current commanders of preferred IGs to the preset rank.

Auto-promote commanders of preferred IGs while recruiting
  • Commanders of preferred IGs will be promoted to the preset recruited rank automatically when they are recruited. The recruited rank can be set separately for each IG.

One-click retire commanders of non-preferred IGs
  • One-click retire all generals/admirals of non-preferred IGs. Note that the vanilla requirements and IG approval modifiers will still be applied.

How to use
  1. Subscribe the mod.
  2. Use the decision "Recruit Commanders" to activate the journal entry.

Compatibility
  • No vanilla files were overwritten, so it should be compatible with most mods.

1. Commanders are always allowed to be assigned to units being transferred. This is a base game mechanism, and you could do it manually without this mod, which also prevents transferred units from losing organization.

2. This is a long existing base game bug and it could happen without this mod.

3. You should manually appoint commanders and deploy formations if you are organizing them from different HQs.

Currently this mod is hiring generals for units that are in transfer, which also causes an UI bug where formations can have more than 4 generals.

The above issue is not a problem most of the time but it can be annoying early game or when trying to reorganize the AI's nonsensical distribution of units.

If possible - this shouldn't touch armies that the game creates automatically to transfer units between armies and should probably avoid merging generals into full armies.

Read the description of the "Recruit Number" button, it's never determined by command limit. If you don't want to recruit commanders for small formations, you can set the "Formation Size" to whatever number you want.

good mod, though it complains about there not being enough commanders/admirals even when the relevant armies/fleets are below the new baseline command limit
