For those who had issues with seeing each other in VR, please report back if the issue is fixed.

If not, go to the new debug tab, switch "File log level" to debug, check debug network and character and upload both client and server side logs to GitHub from gmod/garrysmod/data/vmod_logs

@Kleiner As I said earlier pickup is rewritten,there is nothing to reenable. it behaves differently however on the next update this will be improved

is there any way to reenable procedural grips when picking up props from the normal vrmod? its onyl a specific grip point for props and some props dont play good with specific grips and are way off my hand when picking up

@Niec1313 can just edit for the quest 3, they share the same config ,mostly work (not sure about thumb rest)

Anyways, I pushed another update that can potentially address this issue and it's seem to give a significant performance boost (or is it just me?) Wonder if anyone would notice it too, but it should significantly reduce the load on CPU, especially in multiplayer.

Also some reported that ArcVr can break animations, others said that some custom player models introduce the problem.

@puddles, it's a bug that drives me insane, people reporting it once in a while, then they say it's fixed, until someone else mentions it again... And this is something I can't test properly yet, as testers are not always available and it's really frustrating to test. I don't like bothering people, as this is would require re-downloading addon from github every time I make a change ( which might be very often) , plus usually it creates a delay, I don't want to put pressure to match my tempo, but I can get even more nuts when people don't commit to testing, as I need to keep the tempo need to maintain the focus. :profgenki:

@puddles, I am aware of this bug, but it's hard to fix without testing. I am planning to add more debugs to investigate this issue

Whoever hops in vr first can be seen in vr, but the next person to hop in vr is just in the normal stance, can't see them in vr on my end.

When playing with friends, I can't see the other one in VR, only he can see me in VR.

Went into the convar and removed everything under vrmod, did vrmod_reset, and deleted the vrmod files in data and it works now, thanks for the help!

Alright, for those who had problems with VR driving controls, I pushed a new update that makes sure it works even with bare bones glide addon (I was unreliable method that was introduced by some glide vehicle pack)

@7h3_71t3r4l_v01d after switching vrmods it advised to run "vrmod_reset" should restore convars. As for bindings and manifest check steam/steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/data

After that you can try to select default controls or when editing those select "official" and then edit them. Your current ones should be stored in steamvr/input folder (not sure where it's located on windows)

Somebody else had issue with index controllers and they got it working, can go a few pages back of comments.

@7h3_71t3r4l_v01d if you had it before it could've left some convar values changed or left over steam vr bindings/manifest. I had exactly the same problem when I was switching between official and semi-official before I started the development.

Just tried the semi-official version, worked fine, so it's definitely this mod, guess I'll just use that one for now.

I am just guessing here but could a certain VR setting within the settings panel make grabbing the wheel not work? I'm pretty sure I have all my VRmod settings at factory default. past 'Left pickup' and 'right pickup' being set to grips within SteamVR's controller bindings for gmod.

@Doom Slayer Yeah I just got the Advanced Bone tool and shot the cars I was trying and they all have "steering_wheel" under edit bones. Was trying all cars from Glides pack.

@DJButterBiscuit which vehicle? In order for this to work it needs a wheel bone.
You can install one of those advanced bone tools and check if the bone is there.

The code looks for "handlebars", "Airboat.Steer", for the motorcycle grips and steering_wheel", "Rig_Buggy.Steer_Wheel", "car.steer_wheel" for the car grips.

@7h3_71t3r4l_v01d, the modules are the same the windows. I only worked on the linux version to fix them.

Well is there anything I need to do to uninstall the module? The semi-official version would work fine I remember, do I just install its module over this or are they the same or what?

The map is called gm_wangan, it's a highway map with automated traffic that slides down lanes (They won't stop for VR users that are pulled over) :steamhappy:

Well, I tried just about everything I could possibly think of to try and fix the driving problem, but no matter what I do, I still can't grip the steering wheel. I edited the binds, plus the chords, I tried with absolutely no addons besides this mod and glide.

Best I can say that's maybe of note is that in console it says something about my vehicle type being unknown? Would it have anything to do with the fact I'm on a Quest 2 and not 3? I mean, if any other possible solutions can be offered it would be much appreciated as that is an aspect of this mod I craved since the original released.

If not, I still commend the work you're putting into this mod, as Garry's Mod in VR is something I feel is under-appreciated and has a lot of potential, of which I think you are definitely helping come to life. Maybe one day, it'll just work or something lmao

Weapon world models? It was off before but I just tried toggling it, still didn't do anything.

Just tried that, nothing. Another thing is that for some reason things like the physgun, toolgun, and rocket launcher all shoot in one direction, despite where I look. I tried using my keyboard while in VR and it made the walking sounds, even sounded like I stepped onto the grass, but it didn't move me. I'm on the x64 branch, Windows 11, installed the module, even verified integrity of files.

@7h3_71t3r4l_v01d, I recently emulated valve index controllers to check bindings, haven't noticed any problems apart from bad control scheme that doesn't make much sense. If you had any version of vrmod before this, you might wanna delete the content of data/vrmod inside gmod folder.

Does this support valve index? Cause no matter what I try it will not let me walk, turn, teleport or anything. Even checked controls and it says it's bound. All my addons are disabled.

@Wordle Lover I recently was testing something and tank was just shooting non stop, so I spent some time looking at the code trying to figure out wtf is going on, but apparently some chord that included right joystick center, which is set as d-pad was firing up (literally ahaha)

So seems like if you use joystick as D-pad (which will be the case if you want most of the actions) it's resting means pressed center. So basically need not to use as a d pad center, it needs to be set to none. But additionally set it as joystick with steer set to none but click set to needed action.

It's not like I try to blame the user for no reason at all, it's just I spend quite a bit of time with these settings and aware how challenging setting everything up might be. Especially chords, really need to do some planning to avoid trouble like engine turning off.

As for the driving thing though, I did in fact change the grips to pick up in the vehicle controls through SteamVR. Perhaps it's a conflicting addon I have or something. I'll have to fiddle around with it again to see what the problem is when I have the time

Does the original vrmod has snap teleport and an actual physics such as weight and rag pickup? The pickup system is rewritten from the ground up, so maybe stop comparing? It will be improved over time.

Grips turning the engine off? That's sounds like a control scheme issue. Engine turns off ONLY when "/actions/driving/in/boolean_toggle_engine" : "Toggle Engine", is pressed. Nothing else should trigger it, check out chords inside vehicle tab , sometimes they cause trouble (seems lke d pad center for example might be broken). Make sure in SteamVR left and right pickups are assigned to grips in the "In Vehicle" tab

@RatBoggles , no I mean in SteamVR settings. Custom actions just push actions, that you can later select in SteamVR controller binding settings. Useful if you want to assign some ConComand to a button.

Also, for the VR driving, when trying to use the grips on the steering wheel, it doesn't actually work. My left grip just turns off my engine while my right grip does nothing. And yes I did change the bindings in SteamVR. (Unless it really is in the custom controller input actions like the other person said)

Real VR driving is up, don't forget to assign pickups to your grips inside the vehicles and grab those steering wheels.

Well, for example picking something up as small as a bottle or something, the bottle doesn't actually set in my hand, it floats a bit away from my hand, and when trying to use my other hand to say adjust it or bring it closer to me, it resets the orientation and position it was in. This doesn't happen in the original vrmod. I could send a video to show you what I mean if you'd like
