Yo, does this still work? It sounds like it could easily be used to make a multi-level elevator, which is exactly what I'm looking for. (Though I'm not sure, as the video isn't available any more)

howdu even GET the blueprints? let alone even FIND them
CreamMcQueen 19. okt. 2014 kl. 5:43
how does the thing spawn from blueprints?
NzTnT-TTV 15. okt. 2014 kl. 22:07
how did you manage that? would love to see a vid of you doing that part.

You have to build the rotor assembly separately from the track and align them afterwards. You can't build them next to each other.

I have been using piston lifts for ages using up to three stacked and used landing gear to keep them stable-ish they work ok but take up a whole lot of room, I have downloaded the Gear mode but I carnt seem to get the Gear to attach to the rotor without the wall rail blocking it? have tried alot of things any idea's what I need to do to get the Gear and wall rails to aline?

how many mods were needed?
Deus ex Machina 12. okt. 2014 kl. 14:59
I played around with piston lifts. The problem is that you nee at least two blocks per piston, and they are not stable in the direction normal to movement. I used four pistons and some merge blocks to attach a platform, and the first iteration twisted under load and broke apart. After putting up supporting walls and wheels, I got it to work. But it is really bulky and cumbersome. This design is a lot simpler and takes up less space.

has no one actualy just made a piston lift yet?

I have published the updated version here: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=325482785

Summary of Improvements
- Redesigned to prevent de-syncing of motors
- Added ramps
- Added sensors that detect when to stop the lift
- Openings added to all four sides of lift, allowing connections on any side.

I have created a similar work using the opposire placement of the gears... I've been busy experimenting trying to find the optimal setup.

Feel free to add me, maybe we can swap notes. :)

For those too lazy to find it using the Workshop search, Gears & Things is here: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=315432320

Nice build, love the aesthetics of it.

Nice take on the lift problem, I'm currently working on a version myself using the same mod. But still working out some of the details

I actually had no idea that those gears worked.

I will be updating the design in a few days. The blast door blocks are definitely the solution to the ramp issue. I have also fixed the de-syncing issue. Thanks for the comments everyone!

Do what Galbi3000 said, I was going to suggest the samething when I saw his comment.

Very nice. One sugestion though. Instead of having a ramp up to the elevator's level, when it's at the bottom, why not sink the whole shaft system into the 'ground' by one block? Then the floor level is the same as the elevator's, no need for a ramp :)

Oh, another sugestion. Add the mod Blast Door Sections by Harag ( http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=300571927 ) and use the T Section piece to have a small gap between the elevator and shaft without the annoying slope that comes with the blast door edge piece. I use it and the inside corner piece to line my retractable landing gear to make the area the gear comes out of smaller than 3x5!

I was trying to get an elevator to work and I whas happy to find this. Blast door bloks do seem to work but use them on both the elevator and shaft sides.
Coxzee 9. okt. 2014 kl. 15:30
That is very clever my friend, great work.
Jerry Seinfeld 9. okt. 2014 kl. 0:24
You can use Blast door blocks as a ramp. They provide a small buffer of space large enough for a block to move past it without catching. You can either make the ramp with blast door blocks or the shaft of the elevator.
Koala 8. okt. 2014 kl. 11:20
great concept
