PROJECTILES are things like the magic missile/flamelash/bullets
DUST is just graphical fluff
maybe hit effects are the green stars? I can't do much about that but it shouldn't lag that much?
projectiles are what actually calculate hitboxes and have their own AI and running code
I didn't whitelist anything the terra blade should be using, but you could try clearing the whitelist entries
removing projectiles/hit effects is out of scope for this but i'll consider something when I have time
Also implemented dust-whitelisting with some basic defaults like gem staffs, pixies, magic weapons in general (can all be deleted)
Three enemies had a glow issue, Tainted Slimes from Expanded Terraria, Astral Slimes from Calamity and Pixies from base games.
I'm not sure why it does this either, I think a warning that some glowing enemies may cause flashing effects with dust removal is a decent enough warning.
Could you elaborate what a useful warning would look like to you?
I don't really have time to do much testing to hunt that down, can you also explicitly name an example mob (I'm not finding anything about "tainted slimes".. blight slimes/slime god boss or its minions?) and are you sure removing the dust causes this?
All this mod does is randomly delete the dust past certain thresholds so I'm not sure what could cause a strobing unless that's just baseline for the enemy and its impact is lessened being clouded by dust, which is fair enough to add a warning.
But try this version out? https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2984135617 It should be client-only flagged and load fine.
also doesn't make sense in multiplayer without adding even more overhead or risking desync
but with that said, there's basically no situation where a projectile will be close enough to you for that to matter and also be despawned; the default despawn range is -pretty big-
would like a feature where projectiles moving towards you aren't deleted but projectiles moving away from you (and too far away) are removed though.
In the meantime, you can set "Dust Mode" from "Hide All" to "Show All" (or "Hide in Boss fights") and turn ON "Reduce dust by chance".
Any setting for "1 in x" 3 or above or so should still show enough to track the projectile, but the default is 7 anyway and should look basically normal.
(Lower = better performance, higher = less dust removal aka better graphics)
As you said, the actual projectile (which apparently doesn't have its own sprite these days, just dust) still functions albeit invisible, so no actual gameplay impact here besides harder to see what you're doing.
If you come across any other (besides gem staffs) weapon/projectile that has a similar completely invisible projectile or animation with "1 in x" set to 7 (and dust:show_all and reduce_by_chance:on), please definitely let me know.
can you list a specific item name (or mob/etc, and if what mod it comes from), in english?
Shame it's gone now, but here seems to be another one: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3016470554
To add to Tron's question, the link here is an error, me and my buds were hunting for a mod like this. The link is n error, any help?
