Gajillions must Debug
when we could wait 4.0
4.0 introduces the Occultist archetype who is the only "class" capable of utilising the new magic system beyond a novelty. He's the only one that benefits from and can sustain it.
As far as our playthrough tests go, pure magic runs are chalking up to potentially scaling better than "simple" firearm or melee runs, but that's a given since they're meant to be the advanced class. They're working with an overheat mechanic and stress system.
Just a warning though: GIC's Veteran and Duellist archetypes are either Human or Wolf-Tengu cosmetic variety, with the Occultist *only* being human. Figured you might want to know, since a lot of people out there have an aversion to humans and it might be a total turn-off.
Seems like this would be better suited to a Lastree, all things considered... which is fine by me, given they're one of my favourite Starbound species.
While magic is an integral part of GIC, it is its own story with its own set of rules.
Magic is mostly utilized by the Gensokyans (see the Gensokyo 1999 teaser trailer released about a week ago), using field guns and mortars as catalysts. Outside of this fantasy world, it's generally not believed to exist at all and doesn't affect the affairs of most people. It's not a known factor in GIC.
Your only fix is to uninstall Carlucci's and create a new character, as they are character-specific. BK3k's inventory series has versions in high slot numbers if that's what you're ultimately seeking.
Otherwise, there is nothing we can do.
Could use a mod for fix this.
We've gone through this before with a proper bad actor who genuinely wanted us out of the picture, so I'm sure we're fine fending off an apathetic bot.
*sigh* good luck with surviving the bot onslaught, hope its not too damaging
Wat Do U Mean Ignoring My Armor, Brah. I Will Get COOKED :v
Carlucci's is a notorious one.
Yes.
Bad things. This is a large mod. It's going to add a lot of things. Make a backup of your game so that you can revert to it after uninstallation. Removing the mod after having its content added will cause issues.
Otherwise, there's no harm in just *not* getting this mod.
Its been YEARS since I played Starbound and this is a new mod to me so I can not wait to try it out :D
Thank you. Same as to Oub13, it might be 2 months from now, now that a couple things were shelved from the development plan, but take it with a grain of salt. There's still only so much I can develop in a day.
"Killing great foes" = kill bosses (all except afflicted colony).
The unbranded are a jank mess of an old "race" and they're all getting replaced by Archetypes.
I don't know, but it's definitely shorter now. Had another chat with the others and started cutting out things from the plan to ease off my workload.
It might *actually* be 2 months from now but take it with a grain of salt since I've said that for the last half a year now.
Well there's still 2hu, just not as overly-prevalent... and better written. Definitely not as good as dev-build 4.0, but that's a given really. The stranglehold though yeah, it's fascinating. Sure as hell got me, and now I like seija who is canonically a dipshit, though honestly that goes for like 90% of canon touhous. GIC is just "what if they're all adults and couldn't or wouldn't instantly vaporize someone for interrupting their autistic stone-stacking session".
As for the music description... Eh, to me it was big, but I guess that's only within the "2hu circles". I'll probably change that description then. Looking to integrate the music into the main mod soon anyways.
while i might be like the only person to even consider this, the music mod description is slightly misleading, not because its "STACK PV" and "Stack", i think if you know who Stack is that aint an issue
the auto claim stuff isnt really true though, it used to happen after the resolution of the whole deadman incident but otherwise, autoclaims only ever reliably happen on arranges Stack did vocals on but arent released by Akatsuki
(also, cant prove this but im pretty sure if you contact Stack she will act, purely basing this off the fact she gave me free money several times, truly a nice goddess)
i must admit, i do like seeing Akatsuki being called big, wish that was true
part 2 to prev comment
is it strange though, touhou is a permanent blessing/curse, cant really forget it with the stranglehold on internet culture
personally, i find it very appealing as a touhou fan, no other mod with so much touhou stuff in it... i hope? i did kinda not play for 3 years lol
(i hate how small the cutoff was)
while i agree with the whole no average member of Gensokyo thing, one must not forget that no matter the fanon, Gensokyo is an alternate timeline which is kept alive by the limited populace, being a refuge for being forgotten, be it youkai, spirits or deities
in a morbid way, everyone in Gensokyo not able to traverse dimensions is in a state of limbo, being both dead and alive
ironically, this makes the non mundane setting very much fitting for a more bleak portrayal, weird how that worked out (also, i love the idea of "edgy" "anime" girls, the lunarians literally commit genocide (and are themselves victims of one) yet its portrayed like any other fun day in the setting, gotta be the least edgy franchise, i swear)
All this to end up saying that personally I feel like GIC is in that funny position where because it's not entirely Touhou, it doesn't 100% appeal to Touhou fans anyways. And then you've got the other end where because it *has* Touhou, they're turned off thinking it's only about overpowered edgy anime girls. But I've got no regrets. That combination is what I think is the best about this silly 2d tactical shooter souls-like melee combat 2d platformer project.
But *after* some drama (the one that spiralled into the falsified copyright claim) that resulted in some bad members being removed and their assets replaced, it then ironically did two things: It shifted attention back to "non-touhou" as well as outright admitting that many elements were touhou.
With 4.0's long ongoing dev cycle, it ended up with completely embracing Touhou as a *core* plot element. But the biggest thing that stuck was never power-scaling the 2hus too far past regular grunts/infantry, as well as *trying* to explore the very human side of them.
oh and when you think about it, youre simply living a very accurate Seija life, minus that whole bounty on your head part
Things have been rough over a free project because it seems no mod project can ever go without some sort of drama or scandal. It's inevitable apparently. And yeah, even getting to a point when someone tried to actually put a stop to this project and steal it through falsified copyright claims.
I still wish things were different back then and that I hadn't let the wrong crowd have as much influence over me or the project, but it is what it is.
4.0's in truth still a distance away. I thought I'd have it out half a year ago but every bit of reinvestigation and run of this project reveals more problems with its fundamentals, and more time needed to revise everything. Shouldn't be long now though. I'll have time soon to get some dev-news out.
Again, thanks for the kind words, mate. I do the best I can.
...shame i never subbed the comments
im glad to see this mod still exists, let alone is being worked on, feels very weird seeing 2k+ comments here though
ive just come to say, even if late (what is a year anyway... legit sorry for semi-necroing this incident)
Tengu, i just want you to know, your genuinely professional and polite conduct those 3 years ago made this lil mess of a tism no longer afraid of voicing problems with products, there may be people hating you for this or that, but there will always be at least one person who to this day is grateful you exist
good luck with getting 4.0 out
i will absolutely try driving a mech into hostile npcs first chance i get when it drops :D
Right now it's only from certain stores, iirc.
Upcoming 4.0 will allow regular crafting and bullet scavenging.
Should just be from the False Protector. The boss door can be found under the Federal Depot (large building surrounded by highways, often on the other side of the planet from spawn).
