Starbound is the game that asks, "What if Minecraft and Terraria had a baby and sent it to space camp?" It's a cosmic sandbox where your only limit is how many hours you can sink into it before your friends stage an intervention.

First off, character creation is a hoot. You can be a robot, a fish person, a bird person, or even a plant. I went with a Floran because who doesn’t want to be a walking, talking salad with a thirst for adventure?

The game starts with your spaceship crashing, and you immediately realize you're the unluckiest space traveler since Han Solo. Your mission: rebuild your ship and explore the universe. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. You’ll spend the first few hours getting beaten up by alien wildlife that looks like it escaped from a rejected Pokémon game.

The planets are procedurally generated, which means every world is unique and filled with opportunities for you to get lost, distracted, or killed in increasingly hilarious ways. One minute you're mining for resources, the next you're being chased by a horde of alien penguins with laser guns. Yes, that's a thing.

Building and crafting are addictively fun. You start with a dirt hut and end up with a mansion that would make Elon Musk jealous. Need a fridge? Craft one. Want a giant statue of yourself? You can do that too. Just don’t ask me how many hours I spent decorating my space base.

The quests are a mixed bag. Some are genuinely engaging, while others feel like chores. "Go fetch me 20 alien butts," says the NPC. Sure, why not? But the real joy is in ignoring the main quest entirely and seeing how many ways you can die in the most ridiculous fashion. Pro tip: don’t try to swim in lava.

Multiplayer is where the game really shines. Get a group of friends together, and suddenly you’re the galaxy’s most dysfunctional crew. Expect a lot of “friendly fire” and arguments over who gets to loot that shiny chest. Spoiler: it’s always the friend with the fastest fingers.

Overall, Starbound is a fantastic journey through space and creativity, with just enough chaos to keep things interesting. If you’ve ever wanted to be a space-faring, planet-hopping, penguin-fighting adventurer, this is your game. Just remember to pack extra oxygen and a sense of humor.

Amazing game i wish they made a seqeul or a prequel

Over the course of the development many features were removed(unique race abilites, randomly generated monsters,...), other had been watered down. Some cool features were added, but came out half-baked (Like the mechs or bounty hunting). Progression is now more linear for better or worse and yet despite all that Starbound still keeps its coziness and charm by allowing you to build a space home in one of the six unique ships and filling it with decorations and crew.

Thanks to the passionate modding community, the carcass of this game is teeming with enjoyable content for everyone.
