1) Right-click The End is Nigh in your library, then select "Properties"
2) In the Properties menu, click "Workshop". Make sure there's a blue check mark next to Shattered Spectrum.
3) Launch the game and select Play with Mods. A white window will pop up and you select Shattered Spectrum from the list.
4) If you don't get a "Play with Mods" option when you launch the game, then right-click The End is Nigh and select "Properties".
5) Select "General", and then change the drop-down menu next to "Launch Options" to "Play with Mods" or "Ask when starting game".

I played the beta almost two years ago. Was happy to hear Shattered Spectrum had been completed. I restarted from the beginning. Got every tumor. Haven't done the cartridges.

Excellent work. Smooth, satisfying difficulty curve. As high quality as the original game. You basically added new movement mechanics through how well you know the game. Learned a lot about how the physics of the game work intuitively from your exquisite level design :DawnHearts:

P.S. Vault 10 is evil. Took me 30 minutes before I got it once. Thank goodness I found every collectible after that point so I didn't ever have to do that room again :lunar2019grinningpig:

Ah, okay. Bad allocation is a notorious problem which plagues large TEiN mods. Presumably caused by the game running out of memory due to a memory leak. We tried to reduce the size of SWF files to avoid that, but there's only so much that can be done.

Played through the base story and it's incredible! The final area looks very nice and I like that it uses level layouts from prevoius areas. Kinda sad that we didn't get an escape sequence though. Certainly looking forward to carts and steven areas.

Shattered Spectrum is finally out! This is the end of beta.
All of the mod's content is fully playable and polished to the best of our abilities.

The issue below was caused by unpacked files being present in the player's theendisnigh folder, for the record. Basically having two mods installed at once. We sorted it out over Discord.

In other news, most of the work for the full release of Spectrum is done. I'll be working on a bit more art and doing a whole lot of playtesting over the course of the next few weeks.
But the levels, the cutscenes, and the audio are all finished.
great mod, but theres an error (at least for me) where it still has the demo build, when i try leaving the first room (one with the tv) it shows an error message, i have no idea if it's anything important but it's the black and gray default, hopefully this can be solved

Best Mod. Might even be better than the base game. Everything is perfect!!! (Except for Vault 10, but that's not too big of a deal)

The second half of Vault 10 is getting simplified in the 1.0 update, which we're working on right now. And a few underwater levels of Chilled Contraption had incorrect music volume settings, which I've also corrected in the dev build by now.
1.0 will come with cartridges, but those will be found inside of Stevens. The areas on the main two map pages won't be getting any new collectibles.

It’s nice to see that this mod is still receiving updates after all this time. I decided to replay it, found all the new secrets while at it, and overall I feel like it’s pretty balanced in terms of difficulty. The new area plays well and the challenge is decent, even though I’ve struggled quite a bit with Vault 10 and missed the tumour in that level. I also really liked both the new soundtrack as well as how the older tracks’ volumes were balanced, they all sound much better now (with possibly the only exception being some underwater areas in Chilled Contraption; I also have mixed feelings about how the E path has been reworked).
One question though. There are still a few secret areas which look like good spots to hide collectibles, such as the newly added one in Vault 3 . Are there plans to include cartridges in the game at some point?

All areas got soundtrack changes. Some are minor, some more significant.
And yea, Vault 8 is tricky.

I suppose only Highlands and Dwarf Fortress got revamped soundtrack? (since any other besides new Vault area sound the same) I like the idea of Vault, but Level 8 is killing me, it's too fast and precise :rmomo:

Hi, ExtremeThreat. The crash you're experiencing might be related to a few different things. My current guesses are:

a) You're playing a version of the game which does not support custom SWF graphics. (Like the Mac version.) If this is what's causing the problem, then I don't have a solution.

b) You have some other unpacked files in your TEiN folder, which conflict with the mod's files. If that's the case, you can just move folders named audio, data, shaders, swfs, textures, and tilemaps out of theendisnigh folder.

I found it, just ignored it because i couldn't understand falling blocks underwater puzzle solution, and already beated Artery. Now it's time to wait for upcoming update, whenever it will happen, eventually... :moondead:

I found all 4 keys in Chilled Constraption, but there is still one door in the right path to be unlocked. I can't find any secret ways, not in this level or the others as well. Still a very great and detailed mod, so far completed (and enjoyed) it way more than the other level's collab mod since here it has absolutely new level designs, and awesome music :]

Scavenger wanted to do another soundtrack update, which I'll definitely release when it's ready. As far as the gameplay goes, I still open the level editor from time to time, trying to do something, but my TEiN level design skills are rusty and the motivation is low, with the community being long dead by now.
Maybe I'll manage to get the final areas finished alongside the soundtrack update, but I can't promise anything. I don't want these new levels to feel like filler.
