1.4.4 Patch Notes

New features:
- Recook for new game version.

Issue fixes:
- Fixed an issue in which Bloodforged weapons would sometimes drop from named thralls.

Uppdatering: 4 dec, 2023 @ 10:46

1.4.2 Patch Notes

New features:
- Added a placeable version of the Forge of Ancient Blood for admins to set up if they desire multiple Bloodforging locations or are not playing on Exiled Lands. If placed incorrectly it can't be picked up and instead must be deleted with Shift+Delete.
- Reworked the legendary katana Graceful Night with the Starlit Grace effect: every 12 seconds your next attack attempts to consume a bleed effect on the target. If successful, it deals bonus damage which increases the closer the time is to midnight. It goes off the day/night cycle in game, not the time in real life.

Issue fixes:
- Fixed an oversight with the Lemurian Bow that may have prevented its effect from working under certain circumstances.

Item balance changes:
- The Sandsquall effect's duration can no longer be refreshed by additional procs.
- The Haemorrhaging effect can now be cleansed by healing wraps.
- ODO damage-over-time effects can no longer be applied to other players if the instigating player already has another one active on the target. Currently this includes Sandsquall, Haemorrhaging, Devious Toxin, Fetid Toxin, Penitents' Immolation, and Blessed Serpent Venom. It may include other future damage-over-time effects.
- Reduced the damage of the Khari Acuity effect from 100 to 80.
- Reduced the proc chance of Sandsquall from a Khari Bow from 30% to 20%.
- Changed the special effects of Scythe of Thag and Mace of Thag to Visionclouding, the same as the Hammer of Thag.
- Reduced the damage dealt by Fetid Toxin and if the target has fewer than 3 buffs then it heals them instead.
- Reduced the damage dealt by the Haemorrhage and Sandsquall effects by 20%.
- The Devious Toxin's expiry effect now only triggers if the poison expires naturally and not if it's removed early.
- Removed the bonus damage after rolling from the Khari Heavy set. The stamina refund and short speed boost both remain.

Visual changes:
- Changed the attenuation settings for the Sandsquall effect's sound cue to be quieter and audible in a smaller radius.
- Gave many of the particle effects in the mod fixed durations to help compensate for the deactivation signal sometimes being dropped by busy servers.
- Redesigned the particle effects for Sandsquall to be less intrusive and more realistic.

- Fixed an issue that was causing pets to take too much damage from arena hazards.
- Fixed missing repair materials on the Lemurian Bow.

NPC changes:
- Changed the way the Brother of the Blood's invulnerability while consuming a pool was implemented.

1.4.0 Patch Notes

Italic text denotes rationale for changes or notes for server admins. I don't need to justify myself but I do want those who look deep into mechanics to understand why I made the choices I did.

New features:
- Reworked all four bosses in the Midnight grove with new mechanics and stats. See the documentation for full details. The Midnight Grove is now to be considered ODO's endgame dungeon.
- Added a new Journey with 9 steps introducing the player to the new features of the Midnight Grove. This Journey auto-activates upon approaching the Child of Jhebbal Sag in the northern desert.
- Added Bloodforging. Found at the very end of the Midnight Grove dungeon, the Forge of Ancient Blood can be used to upgrade your ODO crafted weapons to legendary-equivalent stats - but power always has a price. See the documentation for full details.
- Added a new set of items: Overlord's Tools of Lunacy (pick, hatchet, skinning knife, cleaver, sickle). These special tools drop from bosses in the Midnight Grove. When harvesting with them there's a chance to trigger one of several unique effects including bonus loot, temporary buffs, and additional harvest strength. These tools have been created in cooperation with OverlordLunacy, who has been supporting me at my highest Ko-Fi tier for several months now. They are a reflection of her personality and her interests within the game, and I thank her deeply for her support and her belief in me. I couldn't have made it this far without that.

Issue fixes:
- Fixed an issue with Telith's Lament that was causing it to proc off unintended sources of damage.
- Fixed an issue that was causing Thag's attacks to reduce the damage of thralls for much longer than intended.
- Fixed an issue that was causing The Watcher Above to enter a vegetative state if he was damaged and then allowed to reset.
- Fixed an incorrect Legendary tag on the Lemurian Bow
- Fixed incorrect stamina costs left over from pre-AoW on the Lemurian Bow

NPC changes:
- Added attack telegraphs to The Watcher Above's magic attack.
- Added an attack telegraph to Apep Chaosforged's forge attack.
- Apep Chaosforged no longer takes damage from his forge's flames.

Item balance changes:
- The Set's Retribution (Setite Shield) effect's damage is reduced from 40% to 6% of the instigator's maximum health if the instigator is a thrall. The damage inflicted is now capped at 60% of the target's maximum health.
This was an oversight, plain and simple. The item was much too powerful in the hands of bearers or high-health modded thralls.

- The Ymir's Tenacity effect (Ymir religious armour) now heals a reduced amount if the wearer is a thrall and the healing effect now has a 2 second cooldown.
This set has been quite effective at its intended goal of countering attrition/hit-and-run tactics. However it's proven to be much more powerful than intended when worn by thralls, and has had unpredictable interactions with items from other mods that apply cripple on tick. These changes should keep it good for its intended purpose while reducing the severity of the edge cases.

Visual changes:
- Reduced the volume of the sound effect for the Death Warrant effect (Lemurian Bow)
- Fixed missing sound files from the Ymir's Tenacity sound effect.
- Corrected the buff tooltip and journey description that erroneously stated the Yoggite Bone Spear to drain stamina upon hitting a player.
- Replaced the Saggite Disciple jouney's display picture. It had a crosshair on it.

1.3.3 Patch Notes

Italic text denotes rationale for changes or notes for server admins. I don't need to justify myself but I do want those who look deep into mechanics to understand why I made the choices I did.

Issue fixes:
- Fixed an oversight with the Pristine Khari Bow that was causing it to proc multiple times and under circumstances when it shouldn't have.
- Fixed an issue with Serpentman weapons' particle and sound effects failing to replicate.
- Fixed a recipe issue with Khari Raider and Khari Soldier items requiring the wrong paddings to craft.
- Fixed incorrect gameplay tags on the Lemurian Bow and crafted Khari weapons that were causing them to behave as Legendary weapons despite not being legendary.

Visual changes:
- Updated the particle effects for the Pristine Khari Bow's Khari Acuity effect.
The old one just felt a bit phoned in - at the time I made it I was struggling a bit for ideas.

1.3.2 Patch Notes

Italic text denotes rationale for changes or notes for server admins. I don't need to justify myself but I do want those who look deep into mechanics to understand why I made the choices I did.

Issue fixes:
- Fixed an issue that was causing applyable poison and spear cripple to never work against NPCs regardless of mod setting.
- Fixed an issue in which wielding a Practice Sword or Practice Greatsword would set the wielder's health to 0.
- Kingslayer weapons will now proc for 0 damage if the target is the same level as you, allowing the journey to be completed on instant 60 servers.
- Fixed an oversight in which the Fetid Toxin effect was counting hidden buffs towards its damage calculation, resulting in much higher damage than intended.

Item balance changes:
- Reduced the duration of Fetid Toxin from 10 seconds to 8 seconds.
- The Taking All Comers/Challenger effect now requires a larger distance between champion and challenger in order for the outcome to count as fleeing. The damage is now reduced against players.
*The design intent of this armour has always been to be a counter against kiting/hit-and-run tactics, but testing has revealed it to be far more powerful if the wearer is the one fleeing - the opposite of what was intended. Expect further changes to this armour with better detection logic in the future. It should punish the opponent for fleeing, not reward the wearer for fleeing.*

1.3.1 Patch Notes

Italic text denotes rationale for changes or notes for server admins. I don't need to justify myself but I do want those who look deep into mechanics to understand why I made the choices I did.

Issue fixes:
- Corrected the weight class of Khari Raider armour to medium and adjusted the carry weight of each piece appropriately.
- Corrected the weight class of Khari Soldier armour to heavy and adjusted the carry weight of each piece appropriately.
- Fixed missing options for the Target Lock setting on the ODO config panel.

Item balance changes:
- Reduced the damage per tick of the Obsidian Weapons' Haemorrhaging effect from 10 to 5.
- Obsidian Arrows now require that the shot be at least partially charged to apply the Haemorrhaging effect (no more mouse1 spam).
- The Khari Bow's Sandsquall effect may now only trigger from direct arrow hits, the same as with all other Khari weapons.
- Added an 8 second cooldown to the Lemurian Warrior armour's Mark of Honour effect and reduced its damage from 18% to 12% of the instigator's current health. The effect can now only trigger against players, since NPCs can't roll.

Visual changes:
- Fixed some severe text overflowing for the Yoggite Skin journey step.

1.3.0 Patch Notes

Italic text denotes rationale for changes or notes for server admins. I don't need to justify myself but I do want those who look deep into mechanics to understand why I made the choices I did.

New features:
- Overhauled the Practice Sword and Practice Greatsword from the Library of Esoteric Artifacts. These weapons now have the Hard Knocks effect, which grants the wielder bonus XP upon landing a hit (only works for thralls).
These items will allow you to train thralls up faster than ever, at the cost of them not doing a useful amount of damage in the process.

- Added a new server setting that allows admins to disable target lock in PVP while keeping it for PVE.
This feature is still a bit experimental/hacky but should be reliable enough to use on servers. The same code has been tested on Tempting Fate for the last 6 months without any major issues.

Issue fixes:
- Hopefully fixed an issue where Apep Chaosforged could spawn too many adds under rare circumstances.
- Fixed an issue where the Mitraen set bonus would trigger its particle effects on hit even if it didn't proc.
- Fixed an issue in which the camera shake from the Warmaker's Champion's arena hazard would apply to every player on the server.
- Improved code efficiency of mod setting checks for severe cripple weapons, poisons, rolling thrust, spear cripple, and stamina regen.

NPC changes:

Item balance changes:
- Updated the stats of the legendary warhammer Ranissan to be in line with Funcom's own changes in the new patch.

Visual changes:
- Fixed the buff colour coding of the Khari Overseer strength bonus to be green, indicating a beneficial effect.
- Updated the journey reward icon for Glory of the Exile to display the Throne of Glory's new icon.
- Fixed a typo in the Cracking Glacier journey step.
- Shortened the name of the Yoggite Skin journey step in an effort to stop it overflowing the text box.

1.2.7 Patch Notes

Italic text denotes rationale for changes. I don't need to justify myself but I do want those who look deep into mechanics to understand why I made the choices I did.

Much of this work was done while sick with COVID. I found it difficult to concentrate during this time but I had little else to do besides work on the mod and other Conan-related projects, so I went ahead with it anyway. There might be typos or inconsistencies especially where the buff descriptions and journey steps are concerned, if you find any please report them and I'll get them fixed in the next update.

New content:
- Reworked the Apep Chaosforged encounter. He now takes extremely reduced damage unless close to his forge, which periodically spews deadly flames outwards.
- Implemented new journeys for each of the religions showcasing the reworked armour and weapons in each. These journeys are available on all maps but also have triggers on the Exiled Lands that will activate them automatically when approaching a religion trainer.

Issue fixes:
- Fixed incorrect or incomplete tooltips for the buffs and debuffs granted by Jhebbal Sag Headdress, Setite Vestments, Mitraen Vestments, Zathite Dancer Costume, Reptilian Armour, Silent Legion Light Armour, Kurak's Armour, Arena Champion Armour, Khari Soldier Armour, Lemurian Warrior Armour, Abysmal Daggers, Obsidian Weapons, Foeshatter, Claws of Jhebbal Sag, Lusttaker, Serpent-Stamped Khopesh, Setite Shield, The Tenderizer, Yoggite Bone Spear, Phoenix-engraved Sword, Jhebbal Sag's Prowl, Blackheart Blade, and Hammer of Thag.
- Fixed an oversight in the Lemurian Warrior armour rework that had prevented completion of the associated journey step.
- Fixed a bug with The Watcher Above that would cause him to lose his AI under rare circumstances.
- Fixed a bug that was preventing a Sandsquall caused by a Khari Bow from counting for the purposes of the Wine Cellar journey.

NPC changes:
- The Watcher Above's arena hazards now activate more frequently and deal more damage. The final blast now causes knockdown.
It was only activating once or twice during the fight or even less than that if the player was geared, which made the fight both easy and disappointing. With the boss busy casting during the sequence, being hit by it didn't feel very dangerous and I didn't want to make it a oneshot.

- The Warmaker's Champion's arena hazards now knockdown any targets hit.
Similar to above, this didn't feel dangerous enough.

Item balance changes:
- The bonus attack damage from the Tactical Primacy effect now does damage equal to 2% of the player's maximum health (minimum 20 damage).
- The bonus attack damage from the Twin Disciplines effect now does damage equal to 20% of the player's maximum health (minimum 200 damage).
- The maximum damage and healing from the Betrayer's Succor effect is now equal to 5% of the player's maximum health or 50, whichever is higher. The actual damage and healing done still depends on the target's maximum health.
These three changes are all aimed at making ODO items more viable on heavily modded servers. I chose player health values because how much health a player has decides how much damage is considered to be a lot. I've seen modded servers with player health values anywhere from 1k to 50k so balancing it perfectly for everyone is impossible, but this way that will give decent results for most servers.

- The damage from Glacier-Crack's special effect now does less damage if the wielder is a thrall.
This was an oversight - the damage scales with the wielder's maximum HP and thralls have much more health than players, so the item was very overpowered on thralls. The exact scale value may change over time as I hone in on the right value.

- The healing from Silent Legion Light Armour's special effect (Dread Regeneration) can now only occur if the wearer is below 60% health.
The healing from this was too strong and was trivialising encounters. Rather than nerf the healing value into uselessness, I chose to make it riskier to use.

Visual changes:
- Updated the journey steps for the Warmaker's Champion, The Watcher Above, Apep Chaosforged, and Lemurian Warrior Armour to reflect their new mechanics.
- Changed the particle effects for Sandsquall to hopefully perform better.
- Added a distortion bubble particle effect around The Watcher Above when he's dragged out of his structure to better communicate that he must be fought inside the structure.
- Adjusted the alpha for Silent Legion Medium's particle effect to make it less solid.
- Changed the effect tag names for Balias, Mordlun, Ranissan, and Yog's Touch to better reflect what they do. The actual mechanics are unchanged.
- Changed the name of the Glory of the Exile journey step 'Humanitarian Efforts' to 'Show Some Pity'.
I just didn't like the old name. It felt lazy, obvious, and generic, like something we'd find as a mission title for a crappy movie tie-in game on PS2. Is this any better? Time will tell. I'll try not to get in a habit of changing these though.

- Added or changed buff icons for many weapons and armour sets.
This is an effort to improve the amount of information available to players, allowing people who have learned the mod to identify what items another player is using even if the items are transmogged to look like something else. It also sets up a planned future server setting that will allow server admins to disable the particle effects if they wish.

- Temporary buffs from armour and weapon effects now follow a colour code on the buff bar background: red for things that are bad news to you, green for things that are good news for you, and yellow for things whose outcome depends on how you respond.
I recognise that there's a lot of stuff to learn in this mod so hopefully this makes it easier to understand going in.

- The Throne of Glory from the Glory of the Exile journey now has a new icon to better reflect what it actually is.
Previously there were difficulties getting a good image of it before due to the way actors with multiple static mesh components are rendered in the editor, but I figured it out.
