Leveling: Monster Grind refers to a method where we kill monsters continuously in order to level up. Beside the beginner levels, there will be no quests -- only fighting. These locations are based on where we've personally leveled on the previous servers and they usually feature mobs with a higher exp rate compared to other places of the same level. To broaden our recommendations, we've also read other player's guides - which will be linked at the end of this guide ♥

Revised March 18, 2020

Features
This guide is divided by level, and each of these includes at least 2 places to level at. They are also accompanied with maps showing the location of the recommended monsters.

References
Solo and duo -- usually just ourselves and a friend
Team -- we are thinking about a full party of 6 people: a tank, healer, supporter, puller and 2 aoers

Armor & Weapons
Since we outgrow our levels quickly, at lower levels, it's not particularly necessary to wear armor matching our level. However, we'd recommend getting a brand new set for level 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70. Note that if we are tanking in a team, we definitely need a set matching our level and to also bring 2 backup sets for when it begins to break during combat. As for weapons, we'd start by upgrading our level 10 weapon until it becomes too weak, then get a new one.

Overall, we should probably get a nice set for fighting against crimson globs (level 25-30), fugitives (level 35-40), flying noisy snake (level 50-60) and tortoise (level 60-70)... everything else is "as we see fit."

Bonuses
There are ways to boost our outgoing damage, either by leveling and upgrading our weapons or wearing appropriate armor. Onyx stones can be inlaid into equipment for additional bonuses and we should use weapons with an element bonus whenever possible. Using these against monsters whom are weak to our element will help us deal more damage.

If our team has 4 or more people, go to Foggy Forest. EXP will be better

Notes for 50-60
If we've been teaming a lot until now, we'll notice a big change in gameplay from here on. Monsters will take longer to kill since they have more HP than what we're used to. Team size here usually consists of 3 people (instead of 6) and commonly include 2 attackers and 1 supporter. It is possible to duo as well with 1 attacker and 1 support.

Armor & Weapons
Wearing upgraded gear isn't particularly a must, especially if we can get a nice weapon with appropriate armor. If our class is based on attack speed, we should consider mixing pieces of clothing with dancer's armor to gain an attack speed bonus. Otherwise, using robes here will protect us from the enemy's magic aoes.

As for weapons, a supporter can get away with pretty much anything as long as it gets the job done. For the attacker however, it is suggested to use a weapon of appropriate level and inlay an onyx that will be good either against wizard or have earth damage attributes. We could also double-gold our weapon for stat bonuses -- however this technique requires upgrade books and tomes from the cash shop.

Strategy
Due to the enemy's large HP, we should remember to pull only one monster at time and be cautious of how often, and where, they respawn. Flying Noisy Snakes have aoes which may overwhelm us if there are too many nearby. Also to note, songs from musician will attract them.

If it's our first time, or we are soloing, staying near the portal leading to Sneaky Peak may be a good idea. It's relatively easy to run away if necessary.

Supporter
A commonly used build is to use doctor as main class with heals and buffs, sub musician songs with equip musical instrument, and mercenary buffs with equip spear (dustpan formation + arrow or crane formation). To protect ourselves against the enemy's magical aoes, we can wear armor with magical defense, such as robes.

In the case where our partner doesn't kill fast enough, enemies will respwan nearby and begin attacking us. For these situations, we should always carry an emergency heal. Our favourite is Ultimate Healing from doctor -- it has a longer cooldown, but will completely heal the health of everyone within range. If necessary, we should also bring mana regeneration items. Many can be crafted with alchemy, or purchase Magic Recovery Pills from a guild merchant. If space permits, we could bring the skill MP Medicine Boost from merchant which allows us to throw mana potions at our partner and they will receive +50% more mana from these potions.

Attacker
A commonly used build is blademaster as main class with attack speed buffs, sub hunter attack speed buffs and witch doctor damage buffs. Our goal here would be to kill as fast as possible and to do that, we need attack speed. If this is our build, we should wear mixed armor made from clothing and dancewear to gain extra attack speed -- maximum speed value is 20 (?)

Our weapon should be the Luna Blade saber, upgraded to level 50. This saber causes earth damage, which the snakes are weak to. Naturally, if we can inlay an onyx of mathematics to cause even more earth damage! Where speed is concerned, we can purchase Attack Speed Pill from guild merchants or from the cash shop (duration is longer).

If using a different build, we'd recommend wearing robes which provides magical defense against the enemy's aoes and to inlay an onyx with earth damage and another onyx that is good against wizards.

Soloing
Do what we've always done; bring heals and have an escape route. Do note that if we're going to inlay onyxes into our equipment and fight Shielded Snakes, we should use one with wood attributes (instead of earth mentioned above). Jumboa is non-elemental, so anything is ok. We can use the same weapon for Jumboa and Shielded Snakes, even if it has wood onyx.

50-60
Dragon's Den
  • Solo -- start with Jumboa and progress towards Shielded Snakes
  • Duo -- Flying Noisy Snakes
  • Trio -- Flying Noisy Snakes
The Shielded Snake areas are near gathering areas. In case of emergency, we can hide behind the guards and they'll take care of the enemies for us.

Notes for 60-75
Leveling from 60 to 70
From here on, unlocking the next level is no longer free and requires certain tasks to be completed ahead of time. These need to be done individually for each class in order to unlock level 61 up to 70. This system is called Potential Development -- [read more]

Leveling from 70 to 75
Leveling all the way back to 70 can be a chore, hence why many heroes choose to fight in Spooky Bottom where monsters give double the EXP. The monsters there are the same ones we've previously fought, making our old armor useful again. Entering Spooky Bottom requires a Token of Clever King which comes from the cash shop and is also rewarded through the Anniversary Gift Box.

Armor & Weapons
From level 60-75, our armor and weapons may differ depending on where we fight. Typically, we'd enter one of the towers located in Placid Plain for leveling. Each of these towers have their own elemental attributes, hence our weapons should be geared towards where we plan to go. Elemental weapons and armor with inlaid onyxes can boost our elemental damage ▸ Master the elements

Elemental onyxes
  • Earth: onyx of mathematics (Northern Turtle Tower)
  • Fire: onyx of calligraphy (Western Tiger Tower)
  • Metal: onyx of music (Eastern Dragon Tower)
  • Water: onyx of charioteering (Southern Vermilion Bird Tower)

Soloing
Monsters in the towers have less HP than what we've experienced through our journey in Dragon's Den. What a relief! Killing should now be easier. But as always, bring heals and be safe.

60-75
Northern Turtle Tower
Entrance location: Placid Plain X455-Y130
This one seems to be a more popular destination, because we can re-use our Dragon's Den weapons with earth attributes. So we don't need to make new gears.
  • Things to kill -- Tortoise, Northern Turtle Legionary, Crystal Shield Northern Turtle Soldier

Eastern Dragon Tower
Entrance location: Placid Plain X625-Y445
  • Things to kill -- Serpent Dragon, Poison Serpent Dragon, Dragon People Soldier

Southern Vermilion Bird Tower
Entrance location: Placid Plain X400-Y585
This one is a little bit more difficult, but also offers a little bit more exp.
  • Things to kill -- Rune Eagle, Crimson Eagle, Flame Eagle

Western Tiger Tower
Entrance location: Placid Plain X200-Y355
  • Things to kill -- Western Tiger Minion, Bloodthirsty White Tiger Soldier, Western Tiger Guard

Congratulations!
We are now level 75 ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ ♡

You're welcome! TGT is a bit tricky to get to, but i've always found it to be a nice (and relatively quiet) place to level at. The portal near safe is just perfect for a quick escape too XD Good luck with wizard! :wsma_happy:

Thanks, it's a lovely guide. Some areas are indeed better than others, i must admit i don't remember ever going to minotaurs in tgt in ten years of domo, but it's perfect for soloing my 47 wiz... i was really getting bored in foggy.
Metsushiro  [author] 24 May, 2017 @ 5:50pm
I'll take that into concideration when I revamp this guide ^_^
(Marigolds can be found right away if you use the eversun north entrance. They are giant flowers)
Elwood 24 May, 2017 @ 3:54pm
Edit to my earlier comment: perhaps you could give coordinates to common locations of mobs of these monsters in the open world? Ex: When I went to Bigbeam, I didn't see Marigolds, only the other two types of creatures.
Elwood 24 May, 2017 @ 11:03am
The solo/duo area is either for more for duos or melee/defense jobs; I just tried as a pet muse with a equal level pet and could not survive in the reccomended areas. The enemies were marked as red "you'll regret it!" mobs. I tried, and I did indeed regret it.:steamfacepalm:
Metsushiro  [author] 26 Aug, 2015 @ 11:37am
It's an area with more monsters that are easy to pull, and larger mobs. So exp is faster in those areas. Other places are still good though if those are taken.
Flavie 26 Aug, 2015 @ 7:12am
what is vip mean?

Thanks! I added a link to your suggestion in the guide in case it ever gets lost in between hundreds of comments xD;
