Description
Optional files, including: Bandage cleaning taking less time and water, taking and adding cigarettes to a pack taking less time, worst of the items reweighed (looking at you, nails), and vehicle trunk capacity made independent of trunk condition.

Build 42.12 note:
Compatible with the newest update. Please report if anything doesn't seem to work, however.

1. Quality of Life:
-Changes to bandage cleaning/disinfecting and cigarette pack actions. Now takes 200ml of boiling water per bandage and rag instead of 600ml. Disinfecting is now 2.5x as fast.

-Taking from/adding cigarettes to pack is way quicker. Other functions will be added as I continue to discover things that are annoying.

-Picking thread with needle (from e.g. rags, it's a recipe) is possible at level 0 tailoring (vanilla level 1), allowing you to begin gathering thread to level tailoring as in B42 ripping clothes does not give thread at zero tailoring skill. Only way to reliably level tailoring in vanilla to level 1 is cutting jeans and skirts into shorter versions.

-Magazine and duct tape armor no longer needing knowledge of recipe or skill to craft.

-Cooking vessels hold more liquid: Cooking pots 3.0L, kettles 3.0L, saucepans 1.5L, roasting pan 1.5L. Note, already generated items will be updated if used in something, e.g. use your cooking pot for soup and it will give you the correct 3.0L maximum volume when returned.

2. Item Weights and Tweaks:
Reweighs the worst offenders in B42. A spiritual continuation to my Sensible Balance: Item Weights mod from B41.
Also changes the number of uses for some items: reverts the B42 changes to lighters (they were made to have 5 uses, reverts to 32). Household - makes soap last longer (x5), makes jug of vinegar have 40 uses (twice the vanilla, now equivalent to 4 bottles of vinegar). Farming - makes fertilizer have 20 uses instead of 8, and compost 8 uses instead of 4. Full list of changed items available in the changelog.

3. Trunk Capacity Independent of Condition:
Vehicle trunk capacity no longer relies on condition - is always maximum. May only work on new games (or newly generated vehicles as already generated ones will not be affected). I found it to be compatible with the modded vehicles I've been using, but possibly incompatible with modded vehicles that do not inherit the vanilla 'trunk properties'.

4. Less Car Junk Loot:
Reduces the junk loot chance for vehicles (to half). Good if you play with high vehicle spawns, or use e.g. the Way More Cars mod (renamed to More Car Features + Spawn Zones Expansion) and don't want to collect tons of trash, or don't want to make the useful-ish items more common (as a lot of batteries, alcohol wipes, etc. tend to spawn in cars). Does not affect loot added by my Realistic Distributions mod (e.g. does not decrease cigarettes).

5. Sandbox Settings:
Allows you to select my sandbox preset for frustration-free, more balanced gameplay based on my 'B42 Unstable Plus' mod list.
Requires manual copy-paste of one file from:
(IF DEFAULT WINDOWS INSTALLATION FOR STEAM)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600
Go to the folder '3552615247'
...108600\3552615247\mods\QoLMiscSandboxSettings\42\Zomboid\Sandbox Presets

PASTE 'QoL_Misc_B42_Unstable.cfg' TO:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Zomboid\Sandbox Presets
Enabling in the 'Mods' in-game tab does not do anything! Play the preset in 'New Game' as any other custom preset.

Note: I also suggest allocating more RAM to the game if you haven't already!

Extra Info and Compatibility:
Wherever possible I have used a lua implementation as to not conflict with existing base items and recipes, or overwriting mod changes. The trunk capacity submod is the only one overwriting a vanilla script file, but it should be fine, I have not seen any car mods directly edit it - but some mods do choose to not inherit its defined properties - biggest one I've seen is KI5 vehicles but most other car packs are ok.

Permissions:
Please do not modpack or reupload.
If this mod is deleted, you are welcome to reupload to Steam Workshop only.
Thanks and enjoy!

Other mods for B42:
Realistic Distributions: Alcohol, Cigarettes, Clutter
Clothing Protection: Rebalanced
Temperature Affects Food Spoilage Rate
Rebalanced Yields: Butchering

Yeah, still got it right, thank you :^)

Thank you. I deleted my comment but you responded quickly - I was going to rephrase, with this mod it takes 200ml of boiling water to sanitise a bandage/rag but should still take 500ml to clean a dirty rag/dirty bandage.

42.12 changed a lot of logic with regards to how functions are called, etc. so a lot of mod features across the workshop might have been affected, but if you see that it takes 200ml to take a clean bandage to a disinfected/sanitised bandage then everything works as it should.

Got it, thank you!
You've got awesome mods, btw <3

Does "Changes to bandage cleaning" amount of water works for you? After updating to latest version of PZ, i'm getting 0.5l for cleaning one rag/bandage

> what break
For example adding several items as fuel, the error is shown because the old code is used, and in the game it was changed.

But that's not the point) I'm certainly not asking to fork his mod or take on support.

About the functions of interest - "wash everything" (real, not separated) in the sink (in addition to categories, to reduce the number of clicks).

Making Sheets from large clothes and bath towels
Rags and bandages can be disinfected with Alcohol\Cologne

I am not going to be able to get permission to alter/patch Common Sense, and I don't want this amount of work. I am still using Common Sense on B42, it throws out one error on startup but I have not seen it break my game yet. I know some people have already re-implemented some of its features as their own mod, e.g. crowbar unlock and such. What features in particular are you looking for?
Golden Dragon 18 Sep @ 2:12am
Just question, The author of the "common sense" mod has been gone for quite some time now, and it seems that the mod has been abandoned :( Errors are gradually accumulating.
Could you please add the quality of life improvements from it?

@Veloquix
Yeah it'll work for sure.

@DOG1804
It's fine, just load this after in the load order so my edits load last and take into effect. I only change the weight, the way I created edits will not conflict with other mods that make edits to other parameters of food - I only re-weighed a handful of items so even if that mod makes extensive changes you shouldn't feel like anything is out of place, e.g. I made it so that a bottle of vinegar or a box of cereal weighs more, as they should.
DOG1804 16 Sep @ 11:19pm
he "Real Calories and Nutrients Overhaul" mod mentions that it is compatible with any mod that does not change calories, nutrients, or weight. Does your mod work even if the weight of some foods changes?
Veloquix 16 Sep @ 4:17pm
Would the trunk capacity section of this mod be compatible with the Realistic car physics mod? Using that and Summer car as a pair but not sure if they modify the same thing
