Description
Rebalances all clothing items for protection values.
Also rebalances weights, running speed modifiers, and combat speed modifiers, including all armor. Adds missing insulation, wind resistance, and water resistance, where appropriate. All of the changes have been made by hand and reflect a more realistic, immersive experience.

Includes mod support for Spongie's Open Jackets, Spongie's Clothing, Vanilla Clothing Expansion, Small Town First Responders - Core, and Small Town First Responders - Main. Compatible with ongoing save files, can be removed without persisting changes.

Build 42.12 note:
Compatible with the newest update.

A Build 42 continuation of my Sensible Balance: Clothing Protection Values Overhaul. Does not create mod conflicts with other mods as it does not override items, by using a lua implementation to create changes, but please keep it at the end of your load order.

Technical and Extra Information:
The game has two ways of applying clothing protection from zombies:

Clothing that can be damaged with holes loses its protection value in that part of the body after a zombie attack, layer by layer, if you successfully avoid being hurt. A successful zombie scratch or bite will rip holes in all of your clothing at once at the specific part of your body, and you get injured (at a very high tailoring level, patching clothes repairs holes completely). Therefore it makes sense to layer up even if your protection is already displayed as 100% for a specific part, as underlying layers will continue to offer high protection.

Another method is armor. Starting with Build 42 the game has armor that does not sustain holes, but loses condition upon an attack, and can no longer be used if at zero condition. At a glance it seems that creating magazine and duct tape armor offers a higher protection percentage than sports gear or forged survivalist armor, however it only lasts one hit.

I have removed the 'holes' mechanic from some items where appropriate, e.g. military boots can no longer be rendered useless with one scratch. Bulletproof vests offer 80% protection using the new armor system, instead of 100% protection that survives one bullet or one scratch. Helmets that could not previously be damaged now have a small change to sustain condition loss.

Note that in B42 the developers have not (so far) enabled the clothing Run Speed Modifier to work. I recommend you use Working Run Modifier to apply the bonuses (for sneakers) or penalties (from heavy clothing and armor as rebalanced by my mod).

I recommend you use Nepenthe's Slower Discomfort, and Remove Bag Slowdown for further clothing tweaks.

Yeah it is strange, the developers have thought the right way to balance many crafting, etc. actions is to add muscle fatigue, and I guess sewing will sprain your neck lol.

Oh ok, I'm new and since I saw that when I repair clothes my neck hurts, it seemed strange to me.

I am pretty sure this is how patches work in vanilla lmao

I'm using interactive tailoring and repair any clothes along with this mod and I don't know if it's a bug in this one or another, but when repairing clothes my neck gets very tired and the patches give 1% or 2% protection.

Great! Would love to see this in mod, and at the same time some use for underwear other than using it on rags 99% of the time! :))
Thanks and glad for help! :)

Hmm, you know, maybe? There's nothing to suggest it can go below 0 discomfort but there's nothing to say it can't go to 0 from e.g. 25% discomfort. This might be a very good way of balancing discomfort in the future, thanks for an idea. We already know that CombatSpeedModifier and RunSpeedModifier can be set to increase parameters which are typically decreased, so maybe this would work for discomfort.

Just question, can clothes _decrease_ total discomfort?
In case yes - can you change underwear to have "comfort"?
In real life, wearing rough clothes without underwear is painfull.

i do hope you make a patch for the boots expanded mod

Yeah seen quite a few small issues in B42 unstable myself. Thanks, enjoy.

Ah yes maybe one of the vanilla bugs or missing assets thanks for the answer, great mod
