Arcana Parallax Plus

Description
*This should be included in 1.2+ versions of Arcana, I gave the mod author my files about a year before 1.2 went live via the Workshop. However, since it has been so long, I am unsure if anything of mine has been changed or reverted. Therefore I am keeping this mod up; it will be easier if I choose to make more alterations in the future. Thank you for the support thus far!*

A collection of changes to some Arcana parallax (background) images. I really enjoy all of the different content added by the mod Arcana, but thought a few of the planet parallax images could be tweaked to be more distinct. Please see a list of everything changed below, as well as an IMPORTANT note.

Parallax changed: the Automated background has been changed to a custom city since it was previously an exact copy of the base game Scorched City planet. The Vermillion foliage has been recolored to reduce the Christmas-y effect of the green against red. It now matches the colors used for the background trees (on the rocky hills) which are orange and yellow. The Verdant foliage has been made brighter to match other blocks from that planet, and the foreground / background are now different from the base game Jungle. The Arcane Forest tree foliage has been recolored to be more cohesive, and the background trees now blend better with the front trees.

Sky / Lighting changed: differentiated day vs night on Automated planets since normally the daytime is as dark as night. There will now be a lighter, orange sky during the day. Removed the green hue over Blistering planets (very small change, so not pictured amongst the preview images).

READ - IMPORTANT
These changes will NOT apply to a planet you have already visited (and it is not possible for me to make it that way, due to game limitations and the nature of the changes I've made). To experience Arcana planets with these new parallax images, either 1. visit a new planet, or 2. delete the world file for an impacted planet you have already been to, which will reset it. Please make a backup of your game if you use option 2 in case you accidentally delete the wrong file. NOTE for the sky / lighting changes to apply, you must generate new planets in your universe... there is no other way, unfortunately.

P.S. these images have been compressed to improve performance - you can find other mods here on the workshop that do the same for all of the base game parallax images; I recommend this one https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=885877773.

Want to improve more parallax images? I really enjoy this mod https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2879229468 which replaces the base game Scorched City background with buildings that better fit the style of the structures found there. It will also work on Arcana's Viridescent planets since they use the Scorched City parallax and (IMO) looks more cohesive with those structures, too.

Okay, thank you for the response!

@the_silver_bandit Hey there sorry for the late reply! Yes, this should be merged but I gave the files about a year ago, so I am unsure if anything has been changed or reverted. Just in case I am going to keep the mod up, that will make it easier anyways if I want to add more in the future :)

Hello! Has this mod been merged into the recent 1.2 update?

@Rnova2 I would be open to taking a look at Sanguine again, however I didn't initially have it on my list of parallax to change. I will probably work on finishing my current list first. I know Ruinous planets are supposed to be dark, they're kind of a more dangerous version of Desolate planets. I didn't think they were too dark so it might be a matter of screen brightness. However, it would be pretty easy to make different parts of the parallax fullbright or emissive and it could add another layer of interest. I'll consider it for sure!

Could you touch up the sanguine and ruined biomes? I say because sanguine looks like a forest when the trees are made of crystals, in the case of the ruined biome it is so dark that it is almost impossible to differentiate it from the sky, that is, everything looks black, which makes a parallax image totally unnecessary, my suggestion is that it is possible that some crystals in the parallax emit light (in true Tron style) that way it would stop being just a dark silhouette on an even darker sky.

@Razyer thank you!

I just saw the link you gave me, as I thought, the conflicting IDs must be the planets IDs, since almost all the ancient cosmos IDs have been replaced by new IDs, the only IDs that match fu are the ones of the biomes, vegetation and fauna, I suppose that it is normal because ancient cosmos I understand that it was "born" because the author of fu gave permission for the planet aether to be used as an example for the ancient cosmos project

@Rnova2 hmm as far as Arcana goes, it should be compatible with FU. I use it without issues. Honestly it is rare for me to run into a mod that is incompatible with FU and cannot be replaced by something similar. So I would say if you end up missing FU, maybe give it another try. Just pay close attention to their incompatibilities list https://frackinuniverse.miraheze.org/wiki/Incompatible and you should be golden. But if you like Ancient Cosmos more, thats great too! Hopefully they have a FU-compatible version released in the future.

@Adnarim I understand, I also used the fu, I used it for a long time, unfortunately due to compatibility problems I had with arcana (and other mods in general) I left it, I don't know if these bugs are now corrected, but I know that the world of aether from fu and the comic planet from ancient cosmos are exactly the same, perhaps. Having such similar elements prevents them from being compatible

@Rnova2 I'm not familiar with Ancient Cosmos, but have been curious about it. If / when I try out that mod, I would be open to looking at what you suggested. I don't have anything planned for the immediate future but that could change down the line. Right now Ancient Cosmos isn't compatible with FU, but if it ever is or a compatible version is made then I will definitely try it. Unfortunately FU is something I never play without.
