CONTENT

The demi fox are a diminutive and unpretentious race of psycasters. They descend from a fox-like race of spiritual vampires. Of note is that demi fox ears and tails dynamically render prosthetics.

Demi foxes are fragile, submissive and timid, yet innately capable of natural meditation. Their true forte, however, lies in their signature anima interactions.

This ability directly leeches an anima's tree's energy, instantly converting it into psychic power.

This will consume only 5 tiles of anima grass, compared to the 20 tiles consumed by a standard linking ritual. Be careful - attempt an interaction with any less than 5 tiles, and the tree will die.

Naturally, demi foxes benefit from an unprecedented rate of psychic growth. But the anima interaction also gives a demi fox unique choices in psychic enhancement.

Their first enhancement choice should be familiar - gaining a new psylink level. Useful enough in itself, it also interacts in a fascinating way with...

...their second psychic enhancement choice - acquiring a random new psycast.

This frees demi foxes from any reliance on neurotrainers, but that isn't all. New psycasts are first selected from a demi fox's highest psylink level. In combination with the first choice, they can reliably gain all desirable psycasts in a given level before progressing.

These two options alone form a satisfying gameplay loop. But some occasions call for instant, overpowering psychic might. For this, demi foxes have an ace up their sleeves.

Behold the third and final psychic enhancement option - the multi-stage anima buff!

This long-lasting effect provides stackable boosts to psycasting, learning and vitality-related stats. It also provides an instant restoration of 20% psyfocus.

Reaching higher levels requires selecting the anima buff option multiple times. At its strongest, the buff can cut a demi fox's psyfocus costs in half while doubling their heat maximum, heat recovery and meditation gain rate.

The demi fox are true masters of psychic growth. They form reliable bastions of psychic defense, and do so rapidly. Through their anima buff, their maximum psychic potential scales well beyond ordinary limits.

Anima trees appear as overlooked reserves of immense power to the demi fox. Those who shelter them will find similar potential in the demi fox themselves.

Once Again An excellent explanation! Thank you very much!!
Also the issues of Biotech is rather funny and why HAR is very much better.
Been making Monstrosity with your mod has been very much amusing.

An explanation on reproduction.

The default in rimworld is using the mother pawnKindDef. The pawnKindDef contains the race to use.
Technically this introduces an error in vanilla where a wildMan pawn results in the wrong child being born if tye mother ever ran wild. This issue is solved in HAR so no need to worry regarding that.

As for xenotype that largely matters less than race unless the tail and ears were genes (fictional parts) in which case in vanilla you'd almost always end up with fewer genes than the parents regardless if they were the same xenotype, with the added chance thst the same xenotype result in a hybrid child.

If demi foxes were recreated using biotech xenotype there is a high chance their children will be hybrids unable to use the demi fox gimmick even if both parents were the demi fox xenotype.

Fair explanation overall was just wondering if Biotech could be used to recreate the kitsune i.e. through research is all. your explanation also explains why children born from two demi foxes are still demi foxes, due to the Xenotyping yes? Plus Biotech still works with this mod as i add some genes to further make my Demi foxes in my colony even better at psy stuff. also added gene Mods to make my own Kitsunes as well. Haven't had to much issues. Keep up the good work my good sir!

The only merit of biotech for demi fox is a natural meditation gene which requires C# implementation, everything else is better handled elsewhere and would requireC# to replicate for in the end fewer features.

Decoupling from HAR adds a Ton of work for lost features.

Color freedom for hair and skin comes from HAR. (Without HAR either it will be white tips or 1 solid color and gene limited I range of selection)

The real ears and tails come from a race and genes are incapable of doing. (Need to use a race that has a custom body)
And with HAR the surgery support is easy. (Needs C# to solve)

The ear variants being asymmetrical will be lost since that is also HAR. (I'd have to fight the render node system for it)

The natural meditation comes from backstories which HAR is the only reason it gets puts on new borns. (Need to create a solution)

If I remake this race not to use HAR it won't be a xenotype it'd be a race with custom render nodes because genes don't offer what I'm looking for.l and it price gates the mod.

Now as for reviving this mod 1.6 isn't out.
I have not given anyone permission to take over this mod.

Oh and FYI Basic Biotech stuff does work with this mod, as in Vanilla Genes can be used with this mod. In case anyone was wandering or wants to know.

A shame about not wanting to do Biotech with this Mod. A potential missed opportunity as the description for the Mod speaks of the Kitsune and a thought on using Biotech to revive them would be nice. Maybe as a Submod? Either way this Mod is still somewhat Comp with Biotech as in all the kids born between 2 Demifox will be Demifox as well.

It is quite the shame to not have a more general or biotech version.
Im always looking for Xenotype mods that make for interesting additions
for genetic breeding programs.

And the buff ability would make a great general addition to the game
for all sorts of drain scenarios.
