Soul Level
General Information
  • Leveling up is done at Bonfires
  • Each level, also known as "Soul Level" by the community, requires a successively increasing number of souls
  • Each starting class has different starting Soul Level
  • The amount of souls needed to advance from (level) to (level)+1 is the same for all classes
  • Soul level itself is not responsible for defenses, but rather the total amount of stats.
Notes
  • It will take 1,704,000,000 souls to reach SL713
  • The amount of souls needed to level up can be modeled by the equation: y = 0.02x^3 + 3.06x^2 + 105.6x - 895 with x being the level and y being the amount of souls. This is accurate level 12 and up
Vitality
General Information
Increases Max HP.

Notes
  • Unlike Soul form in Demon's Souls, Hollowed players do not suffer a penalty to HP
  • Major diminishing returns begin at 30 Vitality, and the diminishing returns increase sharply at 50 Vitality
  • Being Cursed decreases max HP by 50%
  • The Ring of Favor and Protection increases max HP by 20%
  • The Tiny Being's Ring increases max HP by 5%
  • The Mask of the Mother increases max HP by 10%
  • The Dusk Crown Ring decreases max HP by 50%
Attunement
General Information
Attunement is the stat determining one's number of attunement slots available for Pyromancies, Sorceries, and Miracles. Each attuned magic has a limited number of uses that can be restored by resting at a bonfire. Higher numbers of attunement slots enable more magics to be cast, with attuning multiple copies of the same magic allowing for more total uses.
  • No additional Attunement Slots are granted past 50 Attunement, capping the total number of slots at 10 (12 with both rings equipped).
Notes
  • The Darkmoon Seance Ring and White Seance Ring each grant one additional attunement slot, and can be worn simultaneously.
  • Bountiful Sunlight, Chaos Fire Whip, Chaos Storm, Great Chaos Fireball, Soothing Sunlight, Sunlight Spear, and Pursuers require two attunement slots each.
Endurance
General Information
  • Increases max Stamina
  • Increases Equip Burden
  • Increases Bleed resistance
Notes
  • Equip Burden is equal to 40.0 + Endurance stat
  • Items that count against Equip Burden include all Armor parts (head, gloves, torso, and legs) and all equipment in the four hand slots (Weapons, Shields, and Spell Tools) including off-hand equipments
  • Ammunition, consumable items and rings do not count against Equip Burden
  • The Ring of Favor and Protection increases both Max Stamina and Equip Burden by 20%
  • Havel's Ring increases Equip Burden by 50%
  • The Mask of the Father increases Equip Burden by 5%
  • Max Stamina is reached at 40 Endurance (160 Stamina Points). It can only be increased further with the Ring of Favor and Protection

Stamina regeneration

Stamina regeneration is also increases passively by the following item/equipment.

Strength
General Information
  • Strength is the stat determining one's ability to effectively use equipment with a Strength requirement or bonus. Of the starting classes, the Bandit has the highest Strength and the Sorcerer and Thief have the lowest.
  • Major diminishing returns for damage begin at 20 Strength, and the diminishing returns increase sharply at 40 Strength for Standard, Raw, and Crystal equipment and at 50 for Magic, Divine, Enchanted, and Occult equipment.
Dexterity
General Information
  • Meets Dexterity requirements for equipments
  • Damage modifier on weapons with Dexterity scaling
  • Damage modifier for Dark Sorceries, depending on the catalyst's Dexterity scaling in addition to the catalyst's MagAdjust
  • Increases the casting speed of some Pyromancies, Sorceries, and Miracles
  • Casting speed starts increasing at 35 Dexterity
Notes
  • Increases the casting speed of offensive spells only (doesn't affect defensive spells, weapon attack speed, or other animations), and is capped at 45 Dexterity.
  • Lack of Dexterity to wield a weapon or shield (as shown with the red X on the D-pad menu) doesn't make the character have a different animation like Strength does, but the weapon still gets the damage penalty and bouncing attacks
  • Contribution as a modifier for weapon scaling drops drastically after 40 (for weapons in Normal/Raw/Crystal path and unique weapons) or 50 (for weapons in Magic/Divine/Enchanted/Occult path)
Resistance
General Information
  • Increases Physical Defense
  • Increases Fire Defense
  • Increases Poison Resist
Notes
  • Putting points in Resistance doesn't increase additional Magic or Lightning resistances beyond the standard increases granted for any level increase
  • Armor does not scale with Resistance, all effects are additive
  • Fire Defense can not be properly determined by Resistance alone, as it also is affected by the total amount of stats + Humanity
  • Fire Defense and Magic Defense use identical equations
  • Major break points after 15 and 30 Resistance with the Resistance increase awarded per level being reduced by approximately half at each break
  • Unlike every other stat, Resistance isn't factored into initial Soul Level for starting classes. This means high starting Resistance for a class has no disadvantages, even if leveling it is not intended
Intelligence
General Information
  • Meets Intelligence requirements for equipments and sorceries
  • Damage modifier on weapons with Intelligence scaling
  • Magic Adjustment modifier for most catalysts
  • Affects the number of projectile summoned by Homing Soulmass and Homing Crystal Soulmass
  • Meets Intelligence requirements for accessing certain NPCs' services
Notes
  • Catalysts generally scale with Intelligence, and therefore this can lead to stronger spells
  • Lack of Intelligence to wield a weapon or shield (doesn't make the character have a different animation like Strength does, but the weapon still gets the damage penalty and bouncing attacks)
  • On catalysts and Velka's Talisman, it just makes them unusable
  • In addition to the equipments listed above, equipments in Magic and Enchanted upgrade paths also have Intelligence scaling for Magic damage
  • Pyromancy Flame has an Intelligence scaling listed. This scaling does not affect its damage whatsoever.
Faith
General Information
  • Meets Faith requirements for equipment and miracles
  • Damage modifier on weapons with Faith scaling
  • Magic Adjustment modifier for most talismans
  • Increases Magic Defense
  • Meets Faith requirements for joining Warrior of Sunlight covenant (although it can be reduced to 0 Faith)
Notes
  • Talismans generally scale with Faith, and therefore this can lead to stronger miracles
  • Lack of Faith to wield a weapon or shield doesn't make the character have a different animation like Strength does, but the weapon still gets the damage penalty and bouncing attacks
  • On talismans and Tin Darkmoon Catalyst, it just makes them unusable
  • Magic Defense can not be properly determined by Faith alone, as it is also affected by the current level of stats + humanity
  • Magic Defense and Fire Defense follow identical equations, but Fire-Def scales with Resistance stat
  • In addition to the equipment listed above, equipment in Divine and Occult upgrade paths also have Faith scaling for Magic damage
Humanity
Soft Humanity
Humanity in 'loose form' is added to the counter to increase the Humanity stat point. It is referred to as Soft Humanity by the community. This is shown in the upper left corner of the HUD as well as on the Character stat screen. Upon death, any Humanity stat points are lost, along with any souls. Both can be retrieved from the player character's Bloodstain.

General Information
  • Revive to human form at a Bonfire
  • Kindle a Bonfire
  • Added to the summation of stat points when determining all defenses, therefore, more Humanity directly equals more defense (99 humanity gives approximately 50 more defense in all categories)
  • Increases damage of weapons with Humanity scaling (Weapons in Chaos upgrade path, Chaos Blade, Quelaag's Furysword, and Abyss Greatsword)
  • Increase Item Discovery
  • Increase Curse Resist
  • Given to Darkstalker Kaathe in order to rank up in the Darkwraith Covenant
  • Given to Quelaag's Sister in order to rank up in the Chaos Servant Covenant
  • Given to Ingward in order to remove Curse
Notes
  • Item Discovery stacks with Covetous Gold Serpent Ring or Symbol of Avarice
  • The Cursebite Ring multiplied the Curse resistance by 4 (+300% raise) - this does not affect Curse resistance granted by armors, only from base stat + Humanity stat
  • Contribution as a modifier for weapon scaling stops at 10 Humanities

There is no stat for this. It does 30% (50% for Lifehunt Scythe) of total hp of normal enemies (works differently with Bosses)
