This game goes so hard it's unreal, the gameplay is sick, the designs are cool, and the worldbuilding is delightfully outlandish

I found the voices and dialogue of the two helper bots so irritating I muted them immediately. Realizing it probably wouldn't get better if that was already a problem, I just decided to stop playing.

In the beta, this was a game where almost all enemy attacks were telegraphed with ranges, areas of effect, and controllable redirects. Combined with the freedom of movement around the field, this made for an interesting dynamic where most damage could be avoided if you played carefully and smartly. it was fun, still challenging at some times and simple at others, but it was a work in progress, I was eager to see it develop.

This is no longer that game. The vast majority of attacks enemies use will either reach you with infinite range or will simply hit the entire room and everyone in it. Damage is now a matter of how much you take rather than how much you can avoid, which is one of the most annoying trends roguelites love to chase. The existence of the field is hardly even warranted to the point a Dudes In A Row format would honestly work just fine.

Some people will tell you the game is "harder" now, more "tactical." There's nothing tactical about a situation where the only defense is to hit the other guy harder before he hits you. It also extremely strains this game's playability as a solo experience when there's no one else around to soak these now-unavoidable attacks. The fact that the upgrade choice after every fight now always offers a heal, when in the beta it did not, should be extremely telltale of this change in gameplay intent; and it also means you will now be weaker as you continually chase droplets of health rather than actual increases in strength.

It's not very fun, and I will not play it at this time. Hopefully that changes.

Oh yeah 1.0 has come out and apparently the game still does this all the time, so that's swell.

This game was so boring I opened Pangya on the PSP to remember what a golf game with a soul felt like.

Functionally, there should be nothing wrong with it. It just does absolutely nothing with what it offers. Just thoughtless blobs of fairway stitched together with the driest soundtrack I've ever heard. Procedural generation was a mistake.

Like dude even the tutorial is procedurally generated. You'd think that if you're gonna make it mandatory to complete tutorial challenges to play the main game you'd want those tutorials to be consistent. Instead it's a shuffled deck of randomized events that are discarded after one attempt, pass or fail, and you can even get all your required clears by doing the same two if you're lucky. It makes no sense.
