Released for Playdate in May, I waited for this color version and I'm certainly glad I have - especially because when watching any programme with it you can have the monochrome experience for free by pressing the Y or triangle button. An option that basically all good "remasters" should provide.
Through software from github there even seems to be the possibility to change the content with one of your own but I'm not a technician therefore I won't talk about it anymore.

With this release, Panic once again proofed that at least since the Playdate console they are on the forefront of all "indie" gaming in the west: together with the German title "Herdling" in August (which I play on Xbox, no not Game Pass), Panic managed to put out two stellar titles outside of any video game conventions in a row.

Ok, but what is this? First and foremost, it is not a "game" with rules or goals but a TV simulator. As the developers pointed out, here they removed the usually limited interactivity of FMV titles on purpose: yet whether or not you are ok with that will depend on you. If you think narrative exploration (like "Herdling") is in itself not even a game, then you certainly won't consider switching through TV stations a game either: yet in my opinion games are not made out of goals and rules altogether, but the interface in itself is the most important when it comes to the questions what constitutes a "game". And "Blippo+" provides plenty of that: there's even some videotext incorporated (pleasing the overall aesthetics) and the content is apparently sliced in packages that are loaded individually (on the Playdate those were supposedly separate downloads). So there's certainly an illusion of interactivity (given the state of mind this title immediately sets you in) and a program guide throws up an additional meta layer.

Speaking of throwing something up: there's a lot of negative talk about "trash" for a decade or so now and "Blippo+" is certainly not very political either, but the meaning of the word "trash" also changed a lot since the late 1960s and Paul Morrissey temporary gave the word a different meaning. So let's just call "Blippo+" trash art instead: in general, there's a fine line between preposterous ridiculesness (like making fun of something) and honest satire. In my mind, good satire always somehow appreciates its subject and just transforms it in a humorous way: in video game terms I very much consider "Fallout" and "BioShock" to be both good examples, and "Atomic Heart" to be a bad amalgam of those franchises. You may still provide good light entertainment or spoofs of something but you certainly won't achieve the merits of adequate satire that way (like when comparing GTA with Saint's Row).
What's therefore important may just be how the content is crafted and I certainly have not watched a lot of "Blippo+". Yet what I saw was all definitely put together with a lot of love and care. There seem to be no iterations, every format is unique and testament to the idea of off-beat television in the late 20th century. For example: if you liked switching through the various radio stations in every GTA title there is, and wished for less cynical but visual content, you may very well already have an idea what "Blippo+" can provide and maybe is all about.
