Another indie game, another game breaking bug. I seem to be unable to escape this curse of mine. I broke the cheese maker by making cheese too late at night so the game saved while it was still cooking. Learn from my mistakes and never make cheese past dark.

The game itself is great though, instead of just walk and look at things there is an actual game. Other "story rich" games could learn a lot from this.

Hate to say it, but this great game is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad PC port. Crashes, stutters, horrible optimisation, long load times even on NVME SSD.

The benchmark in no way accurately reflects in-game performance and is basically a waste of time/space, giving me a solid 60fps the entire way through when in-game it is nowhere near.

I am reminded of FFXV, Arkham Knight and other similarly terrible PC ports. It is, "playable" but just barely.

Plays best if you try and act like a horror movie monster instead of a video game character. There is a lot of fun to be had in torturing these pixels.

Thumbs down just for the bitrate, got it 55% off otherwise I would not have purchased. Only get one copy of each song 256kbit mp3.

EDIT: Just today over two years after release this popped up in my Steam updates. Lo and behold, .wav files for all 28 tracks. Now my only complaint is that they haven't added the new songs they added to the game to the soundtrack.

They fixed it. I can't believe it, but they actually fixed it. After over 2 years of the same bugs they fixed the game without any notice or fanfare (or even any patch notes).

These are the bugs that I was experienced even when I checked on the game after the release of Episode Ardyn that I did not experience today playing 9hrs on a new save file;

1. No stutter, the stutter is completely gone for me. That includes the stutter when switching between kb/m and controller ex/ when you bump the mouse by accident which is huge.

2. 60fps physics seems to be working a lot better now, coats and hair seem to be moving ALMOST as much as when I have it set to 30fps (which is a huge improvement)

3. No need for any external downloads/mods, my old version of Special K i had installed actually caused issues with this patch and when I removed all traces of it the game is running flawlessly.

The only thing they haven't fixed is the 4k texture DLC which has always been a hot mess and if it is enabled seems to cause all the old stutter problems.

I can FINALLY play the game I bought over 2 years ago and enjoy it, without running into crashes or headaches from graphical problems. I never finished this game but I always wanted to, now I finally can and enjoy it while I do.

From what little I understand about the development of this PC port, the person who made this patch might not even be on the games credits. This unsung hero has done what seemingly no one else could do or was willing to do and for that I will be forever grateful. Whoever you are, I salute you o7

EDIT: For those interested after 40hrs of tweaks I have finally figured out the most stable settings for the least visual glitches. 90% of the PC only graphics settings cause various bugs still, seemingly only shadows does not.

EDIT 2: I have found that Ambient Occlusion does not cast shadows in the same direction as Lighting and Shadows, instead just casting shadows straight down at all times. In my opinion it looks better with that completely turned off as well. If you want to turn something up, I have turned Shadows to "Highest" without finding any bugs, I have found bugs with Lighting at "Highest" but not "High" but otherwise just turn up the Resolution % if you are running it at a resolution where the Average Model LOD looks bad.

A better remake than Resident Evil 3.
