This game is super cool! I hadn't seen it until Steam showed it to me for the sale, so I guess not enough people have heard of it yet? I would love it if more people played this game.

It's great. My only complaint is that some things are not explained very well so it is easy to think I needed to do things a certain way until finally finding out otherwise. (I played 11hrs before I figured out how to increase my research speed). Distracting agents with the cover operation, the 6 unique super agents, trap synergies, heat from criminal networks, what is or is not suspicious in your lair, enemy intelligence, unlocking new minion types and the aforementioned research could all be explained to the player with a bit more detail. I basically had to trial and error all of those things out for myself even with tutorial enabled.

On the plus side all these systems are here working, I just had to figure them out. The criminal networks seemed pretty one-dimensional until about 8 hrs in when I could level them up and the missions required intelligence for everything except the most basic, I couldn't figure out how to distract enemy agents without starting a fight in my casino until I realised you don't really want to tag them until they have almost reached something suspicious and eventually you even get the tools to make this automatic. Traps seemed useless to me until I figured out what does and doesn't cause suspicion and realised just how much you can fill your halls with trap synergies to keep all but the most determined agents out of your illegal areas. I figured I could just let heat rise if I didn't mind that area not running a scheme until I.R.I.S. told me that thanks to multiple areas maxing out in heat at the same time I needed to be on the lookout for stronger agents. I got wrecked by the super agents until I found out in the discussions for the game that you can just not run schemes in the area they are in and they won't attack you, even if the heat maxes out it will just do the normal thing and send soldiers. My cover operation seemed to be mostly ignored by the agents until I really filled it in and made it a bit of a maze, I also noticed that marking an item to scam tourists seems to make it ignore agents so I shut that off across the board and now agents hardly make it into my illegal areas.

All together the game itself is great, I am impressed with the depth and the amount of stuff to do. It's just a lot of things are poorly explained, as far as I can tell even the things different from the first game (which I did not play) are poorly explained which is leading to some of the negative comments. Compared to other games that have released in the last 12 months, (you should know what I am talking about) there are no features I can remember from any of the trailers or pre-release footage that I have not seen make it into the game. I have everything I was promised. Even the pre-order bonus and deluxe items need to be unlocked through a side story like all other loot in the game so they didn't cut corners on that.

An excellently underrated rouge-lite. It is very good, and the devs are committed to updates.

Really wish there was a more neutral review option but here we are.

The game is great with people you already know and if that was the entire experience then it would be a glowing recommendation.
However trying to find people to play with when your friends aren't online is a nightmare and playing solo is basically pointless. Crossplay with Xbox makes things even worse somehow because you can only invite people through Xbox gamertags. EDIT: you can invite people through Steam for awhile now apparently, though I didn't play for a long time.
If you already have 2-3 friends you want to play this game with then I would recommend it, however if you want to make friends this is not the place.

It's really a shame because the in-game voice chat is so well done with proximity and directional audio as well as a special item to help you talk farther but 80% of players use 3rd party apps to communicate and find crews.

Don't buy this trash. Please.

There are so many better games to spend your money on. Deus Ex, Sleeping Dogs, Deathloop, Prey, Cruelty Squad, Cloudpunk, Ghostrunner, The Ascent, SUPERHOT, Katana Zero, even Fallout, GTA and Red Dead. Any one of these is more worth your time and money than Cyberpunk 2077. Any one of these is more immersive than Cyberpunk 2077. Any one of these has a better story-line than Cyberpunk 2077.

Please don't buy this broken game.

Feels like the biggest game I have ever played. Every time I go in to try and make some story progress, I end up on a new island or something that has it's own story like a mini-DLC and my entire play session gets side-tracked. Hunting the Cult of Kosmos feels a bit like classic Assassin's Creed but not much else, it's definitely an AC game for people who were getting tired of the same old yearly releases and has little for fans of the series. Personally, I think it's the best game in the series yet.

In the last couple years I have come to a realisation. If you make any kind of sequel or spin-off or tie-in with an existing Intellectual Property (IP), you are going to upset a lot of fans. It doesn't matter how faithful or groundbreaking your game is, if it is a part of an existing universe you are bound to upset some people. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is no different.

The game itself is great. I recommend looking up reviews outside of Steam, or just avoid the angry reviews. The Rock Paper Shotgun review is what sold me personally. Don't listen to complaints about the minigames that are just there for fun or comparing it to the previous game.
