To anyone looking to start this trilogy, PLEASE play it with the EVO voice patch! The Japanese Vita version had voice acting that is not present in this release, and it's extremely high quality and absolutely fantastic. I find it criminal that so many people are playing without it, because it adds so much more emotion and character to the game. Do it for Olivier. His voice actor went hard.

(also the game is very good)

Absolutely loving the game. If you have an itch for something very similar to Runescape, this will definitely scratch it. While I assume the dev team is likely very small and this is probably one of their first games, it's surprisingly high quality and surpassed my expectations. Graphics are what I wish RS3 looked like, very nostalgic and actually quite beautiful in some places. Really enjoying the dialogue and all the references. Some of the quest monsters/minibosses are actually kinda difficult if you don't come prepared, and I'm enjoying the bits of challenge. Bringing the right armor, stacking resistances, potions, buffs, etc - actually matters. I also thought the game was fully singleplayer so I was surprised when I saw other players in towns! And every single person I've run into has been super friendly - definitely a nice touch (but does make me wish you could party up and play co-op). I honestly just wish there was more of everything (especially skills) cause I'm not looking forward to finishing it and never finding anything that hits quite the same, though I likely have a long way to go. Well worth the price already. If you miss Runescape, just buy it.

I love this game so much. Even solo I feel like it's fun enough on its own to fish, collect junk, dress up your stupid little cat/dog thing and doodle all over the place, but being able to hop in and chat with random people while doing so is great. Really takes me back to ye olde 2000's browser chatroom games in the best way, and I hope to see more games like this pop up. Playing this while watching something or listening to a podcast and idly chatting with people is peak cozy. Just wish there was support for (even slightly) larger lobbies - and a few permanent public lobbies would be nice, as it's pretty sad to lose your fishing buddies abruptly if the host leaves.

This game is honestly a masterpiece. KEIZO's 15 years of work really paid off, he made something truly special here. It's been awhile since I couldn't put down a singleplayer game, and since I played something where the pure passion of the developer was tangible while playing. Story is excellent (though I'm a sucker for time travel and the butterfly effect, and we ignore how cringe chapter 4 was) but more than that I just love the compelling sense of adventure it provides, and just how ridiculous the scale of it gets. Gameplay is fantastic and incredibly addictive, I never got tired of experimenting with new builds. There's tons of ways to consistently get a bit more powerful, and there's a lot of incentive to collect all of the weapons and gear and level them up - they're always useful since you unlock skills that can be used with any build. Also this game is BEEFY. Every time you think the story is coming to and end it just keeps going, and going...but at the same time it doesn't outstay its welcome. Just the main story took me almost 70 hours to complete (though I really took my time grinding and making sure I didn't miss any secrets because I was having a ton of fun). Postscript really took me by surprise, because I wasn't expecting it to introduce new mechanics. Also while the DLC doesn't add too much to the story - if you enjoyed the combat you'll have a lot of fun with it, and I wasn't ready for it to be over, so I was happy to have it. Very highly recommend playing it on at least hard mode, because while the game isn't afraid to kick you in the ♥♥♥♥ - it's SO rewarding when things click for you and you finally beat that bastard boss that was giving you trouble. Absolute must play for any lovers of oldschool JRPGs and well worth 2x the price. While I certainly wasn't expecting it, it very quickly snuck into my top 10 favourite games of all time. Actual 10/10

Early Access Review
It's a fun little game but even with friends to play with you (unless you have 9 of them) you're still at the mercy of the tiny playerbase to be online in order to actually play a game. The dev/discord members put up parties to join sporadically throughout the day, but realistically you'll still spend a whole lot more time waiting for a match than playing. It'd be nice if you could still start a game with a smaller, more reasonable amount of people like 4 or 6 or something, even just temporarily if there's not enough to fill a party until (hopefully) the game has more players. It's also laggy as sin for me, but hey...at least I haven't disconnected yet. Somehow. I'm a sucker for goofy party games that you can play with friends and randoms, so I hope they keep polishing it and that it gets more players.

I saw there was a snail party going on, so I made my friend pay up a dollar to play with me. We got immediately bombarded by 250 snails saying "hello" all at once, spent several hours slowly moving towards various objects, left snail goo all over the place, had tea and cupcakes with the bois, learned the art of snail flight, and ascended to sneaven. this is how I spent my friday night and I have no regrets, 10/10 will join the next snail party. also the discord is very wholesome, has cute pet pictures, and the dev is very chill, cool dudes.

Fun and addicting as ♥♥♥♥. I can't remember the last time I binged a game so hard and genuinely couldn't put it down. Rather than the comparisons to Monster Hunter I'd compare it more to something like Phantasy Star Online, Stranger of Paradise, and Toukiden - if you enjoyed those, you'll feel at home here. It kinda feels like an MMO-lite (complete with the hellish grind) action game but for 4 players, and I'm here for it.

The story was not for me, and is honestly some real generic anime garbage that was painful to wade through at times, but once you can finally play with friends - the gameplay loop is where it's at. Every time I'd start getting tired of the grind or how my character plays, I'd just play a different one and have a blast again. They all feel quite distinct and I haven't disliked any of them, when I normally do in similar games. Beyond just building for pure damage, there's a lot of room for goofy gimmick builds, which is always fun. There's just so many ways to consistently get a bit more powerful even in the endgame, it's an endless crack loop. But dear god, whoever decided it was a cool idea to have us kill Training Dummy Proto Bahamut hundreds of times to obtain all of the endgame weapons, especially when several fights before it were both more interesting and difficult, is a bit of a dunce.

Aside from the story and a mild annoyance with sigil management, the only other gripe I have with the game is (unfortunately a big one) - a lack of different enemies, and difficulty. There's not much challenge when you become so powerful so quickly in the endgame, that there comes a point where you can just faceroll most things without even bothering to pay attention to much. Sure, you can impose difficulty on yourself by going in undergeared or with certain sigils - but I honestly just wish there was an extra difficulty that was actually challenging with more going on and doesn't let you die 20 times in a fight with zero repercussions, especially when the combat is on the simple side. We need a G rank.

I hope that beyond the planned updates they consider doing a larger expansion one day, because the base here is so damn good, and I don't want this to be the end of it.

edit: Discovered that the game locks getting 100% achievements behind a $15 DLC with no content since it includes a weapon, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ demonic. I still love the game, but damn that's sad. They fixed it, nice.

Get showered with free ♥♥♥♥ and have no control for 30 minutes, get to the point where you can play the game, but then realize that it's just a nothing sandwich. All you do is click through some menus. It takes a couple core mechanics from the main games and then...strips them down until there's nothing left. If you get tired of the combat having three buttons to click, you can reduce it to one, thanks to auto battle. The only positive thing I have to say here is that the girls are cute (obviously) and it's quite nostalgic to see over 2 decades worth of characters from the series with new models, and more animated and expressive than they've ever been. But when that's your selling point, it's a given.

If you're a gacha game/idle game enjoyer you might find some fun here (somewhere, somehow.) But if you're a fan of Atelier/Mana Khemia, then you'll probably find nothing but disappointment here, unless you want to see some shiny new models. It's all style and no substance.

This game traumatized me because I was open mic after settings reset to default on a new PC...I only realized after running like 30 hours of group content, because some other sod made the same mistake

WHY DOES THIS GAME EVEN HAVE VOICE CHAT AND WHY IS IT ON BY DEFAULT
my condolences to anyone who suffered through terrible singing and insane ramblings

still a good game though, cozy and nostalgic. go listen to the soundtrack even if you don't play it
