I played through the first three King's Field and, in some parts of the game, it is inspired by that... but that's where it ends. The gameplay, although similar, it adds more customization of the character (by selecting classes) but they're mostly useless as the game doesn't quite provide you with weapons/magic that can be atune to your build. An example is "im gonna do a mage build" so you're gonna spend quite a few points to intelligence, only to be at the "third dungeon" with only two spells. Another example is simply a long ranged weapon.... i didn't find anything (still in the third dungeon) and i literally wasted a lot of points in dexterity.
Also i found a shield... but the game provides you with only one hand, so you decide to wield a weapon OR the shield
Simply put: it has potential, but i can't recommend it as a King's Field fan
