Great F2P, no subscription required. You don't need to spend money unless you want certain ships or items. There are gamble boxes but again you don't have to use them or even spend real money to get them as with the player exchange you can use in-game currencies to buy things you may want.

They also have been doing campaigns each year that allow you to either select from 3 great prizes such as a free premium ship, 2 T6 ships from the store or 1,300 Lobi crystal which is another store you can get items from. Last year they extended the campaign but gave you all 3 choices instead of you having to pick just one.

Missions can be hit and miss but overall they're pretty good. A lot of story missions to play and you have the option for Task Force Operations to play missions with other people otherwise you can just play solo if you prefer not to join a fleet though I do recommend joinging a fleet even if you still want to play solo.

This game is fun, it just requires too much of a grind, or investing a TON of money. If you want a good Star Trek experience this game isn't bad. The story is good, PvE is pretty good as well. PVP is only for the most hardcore players. You will also have to spend a fortune to be viable in the elite content. If you have plenty of time to invest, and can play every day you can get pretty far with the events. This is tough for anyone who cant log in daily. You will fall behind and have to spend a pretty tall sum of money. Ships cost roughly 30 bucks which is insane, and for any ships that you cant buy with money you will spend hundreds total to aquire them unless you can devote a good chunk of time every day to this game. If you just want to play the story and enjoy the PvE content at lower levels you will have a lot of fun here. Otherwise stay away.

It's an old game, and to be honest, it's not really based on Star Trek the ethos per se, but more on the old pen and paper game "Starfleet Battles." But that said, it's an entertaining game with extraordinarily beautiful star systems, and highly customizable characters. It also has the benefit of not being as addictive as other MMOs.
