Guide: Invalid LOD texture size
Asset texture sizes should always be powers of two (32, 64, 128, and so on) for optimal GPU performance (FPS).

In Cities Skylines, weird LOD texture sizes can also cause black textures that appear when you zoom out.

Typically, the black textures appear in other assets or prefabs than the one that has the invalid texture. This has made the problem especially difficult to troubleshoot.

Also main (non-LOD) texture sizes should be powers of two. If not, the texture can sometimes cause weird lighting effects.

Can this break my save?

As annoying as the black LOD texture problem is, it is only visual.

For any asset creators being directed to this page via comments on workshop pages: You can quickly check if your assets have this problem (and others) using the "Check assets for errors" option in LSM mod options.

GPUs want power-of-two texture sizes. Weird texture sizes must be dealt with somehow, don't know how, but quite certainly there is a price to pay.

Nevertheless, the buggy visuals are the main thing here.

Do you know of any other causes for this issue? I used the LSM tool to check my assets for invalid LOD sizes and removed those assets but I am still getting the black LODs in my game. If it's useful, or for anyone else who might be having the same issue, it's occuring in the models for Badi_dea's Parking Lot Roads.
