Some of the original game devs came back and helped put it together. There's also rumors (from those devs themselves) That a new update for the game of some sort is in the works but has been delayed due to Some legal red-tape

The fix suggested by Radian has now been implemented. Huge shoutout to @Aethere for letting me know that I can recover the mod files by opening the published mod .dat file as an archive. Hopefully this fixes things, and that people will not encounter issues with the mod anymore.

I also discovered today that dredmod.com , an amazing resource which I used to learn about making DoD mods, is now dead. I really hope that the information hasn't been lost, though I am not sure if any backups exist. If people know of such a backup/alternate site, please post a comment.

Frankly, I had fully forgotten about it until you brought it up now. I wanted to go ahead and fix it after so long, but I don't know how... Specifically, I seem no longer have the mod files on my machine, and can't figure out how to extract them from the .dat file of the published mod. I would like to ask @Radian how they were able to see the .xml files, because maybe I can recover them the same way, but their account is private. If they accept my friend request, I will ask them. As it stands though, I don't know how to go about getting the files so that I can implement the fix... Lesson learned about procrastinating too long on a task. :/

@Radian Oh wow... Thank you for figuring it out. I feel kinda bad for having abandoned this project. I never expected for people to pay any attention to it after the first little while. When I get a chance, I will implement your fix. Cheers, man! You da real MVP. :broflex:

@TheAnarchyDice The problem with Dissonant Discharge Field is that your template file is named "ManTemplate" instead of "manTemplate"
I changed the name and now it works. I don't know why that matters but apparently it does.

@Aethere I got a friend's laptop, rushed DDF and it does nothing. (before reading your comment, I though it might have to do with the fact that, on every other machine I had tested, I also had the local, development version of the mod, which I was using) I am confused.... I guess I'll see if I can redesign the skill into somethng more stable. Back to the drawing board! :crafting:

Just started a new character with the same skills as my current run using the skill and beelined DDF, and it worked perfectly. What is this I don't even :berserk:

I just ran through the skill IDs for them, and it doesn't appear that there is a conflict. I'm thinking you might be right with the template suspicion.

@Aethere I'll look into it as soon as I have a chance. It might be some compatibility issue with the other mods, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the culprit is the sequence of custom ability templates I am using. I will try to see if I can redo the ability and if that doesn't help, I'll check these other mods for the IDs that they use.

I'm using several other mods. To name the big ones: Compleat Essential Skills, Extra Potions, Roguish Renovation w/ sprite fix, and a tweaked Vaults of Maslech.

@Aethere I even changed the ID as Arendeth suggested. Are you using any other mods at the same time? Either way, I'll probably need to find a way to replicate the issue as, so far, on the three machines I've tested, I didn't encounter the bug.

So, been playing around with the mod. Gotta say, the second skill feels very rewarding when you take the time to aim carefully. But as has been reported before, Dissonant Discharge Field doesn't seem to work properly. Or at all.

you should change its skill id to something that isn't used 200 is used by Clutch of Midas from FaxPax.

Well, maybe I don't understand how this skill works. But the problem is that nothing happens when I cast it. Like, literally nothing. It doesn't even go on cooldown after use.

@Ned So, I went to test it and it seems to be working fine. Do be mindful that Dissonant Discharge Field, unlike other abilities in the skill tree, has a cooldown rather than a mana cost, so it is more of a planning/emergency escape tool than anything else, since after you use it, you have to wait a while until you can do so again. If, however, you are certain that it is not working correctly, add me on Steam and we'll talk in more detail about the specific error.

@Ned The Level 0 skill is meant to be a DOT for the early game. It's power mostly lies in the fact that the damage ticks stack, so if you have some distance between you and the enemy, it can do quite a bit with multiple castings, but it's meant to slowly fall off and be pretty weak if the enemy is close to you. If, however, more people feel that the ability is too lackluster to be used, I might bump up the numbers a bit. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for your comment! Well, I meant for it to have a dual use. It shoots forward, in multiple waves, that cover an area in front of you. The closer the enemy, the higher the chance they will get stunned and the longer the duration of said stun. The farther they are, the less likely/shorter duration the stun is, but they receive more damage. Since a lot of the mod revolves around a long range, heavy AEO mage, with DOT and delayed effects, I wanted to give the player some trump card to get out of tight spots. It can be used as a (decently) effective get out of jail free card, if too many enemies seem to get close to you (though not if they surround you, so you have to plan ahead), but I also wanted to allow the player to blast them and not even let them get close, if he plans his damage accordingly. I also made it timer based, instead of mana based, because I really wanted it to feel like a strategic move, that is very rewarding when used well, but which you will miss if you waste.

I am glad you liked them and hopefully you'll like the content too. I really enjoy Dungeons of Dredmor, but I didn't find any of the standard mage skill trees (skill lines?) to satisfy me, so I made (what I think is) a set of abilities that plays like a ranged powerhouse with AOE capabilities, but which needs to be very aware of enemy positions. Now, let's pray that being a glass cannon the way I made it is fun and not annoying. :))
