took several tries to get out the door. i must have missed the easy way
MachManX 20 Sep, 2013 @ 10:32pm
This was easy but fun. Especially the last room where I didn't know how to get the gel to a certain place but after some trial and error for 30 seconds I got it.
wildgoosespeeder 18 Sep, 2013 @ 9:16pm
I can crouch and avoid using the funnel. Slow, but possible. Also the button that activates the three stairs to the exit, use an antline trick found in my profile screenshots.

Try my map?

I enjoyed solving this one. Not too hard. I liked the laser grid in the hallway. I'll have to remember that. I've seen the bouncing gel blobs before but couldn't figure out how to use that in a map. You did well. The last one was the hardest for me. I couldn't seem to get the control I needed to place the gel right. Took a while but I made it and exited smiling. Here's one for you to try.
Krayne 31 Aug, 2013 @ 5:32pm
Was really good. The faithplates and gel was amazing. But the hallway with the laser grid could becrouched under the whole way. I dont know if that was intentional but i used the tunnel anyway.
nicklonium  [author] 31 Aug, 2013 @ 6:42am
Fixed. I assume you placed a portal on the ceiling/floor, gained vertical speed, then portal jumped over the laser grid? Or used the black laser grid emitters to walk across? I should probably go back through my first few chambers to check for this sort of amateur design mistake, thanks.
BlumCoLe' 31 Aug, 2013 @ 6:15am
In the second part of the first room ...speedgel is useless.
drumcoaster 30 Aug, 2013 @ 4:05pm
I don't understand the purpose of the added difficulty to simply grab cubes, but I do enjoy these test chambers. I think it's funny how a lot of these have a tunnel ascension into a new level. It's kind of like having more than one test inside each chamber, rather than one big test. Are my levels like that?
ram ranch 29 Aug, 2013 @ 10:09am
Wow, I never knew goo could bounce! Great test once again!
Watermelon Pie 25 Aug, 2013 @ 2:49pm
Really like this one!
nicklonium  [author] 24 Aug, 2013 @ 5:22pm
It's been added to my queue, I'll probably get round to playing it tomorrow if not soon after. As for this chamber, it was an early one of mine and I wasn't really sure how to use what I'd found as part of a good puzzle. I knew it was an interesting mechanic but it was just a concept at the time. I've sort of incorporated it into my latest chamber (Chlorine) as part of the solution and I'm working on the early ideas for my next chamber which are likely to use the mechanic in some way. It seems as though this idea could be taken by a more experienced chamber designer and used in a really interesting way.
Focused Bokeh 24 Aug, 2013 @ 12:28pm
This was also a very enjoyable test chamber, but again, I really would have liked a bit more light in the main faith plate room so I didn't fall in the goo or step on the wrong faith plate by mistake. I've never seen the use of faith plates to launch gel; that was quite suprising and cool at the same time :D: If you have a chance I'd really like to hear your opinion on my latest test chamber that only uses gel: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=172193322
thanks~
DropTheDodongo 22 Aug, 2013 @ 9:16pm
Heh, nice laser grid. I WONDER WHERE THIS GOES-OH SHI-
The only real problem is that the puzzles don't save your progress in between key moments. However, once a part is solved it's usually pretty easy to do again.
Xbeekeeper 15 Aug, 2013 @ 11:28am
Great Fun!!!!
Timcan2904 27 Jul, 2013 @ 1:13pm
Awesome Job! The whole thing with the faith plates launching the gel blew my mind!
Cookie/ 22 Jul, 2013 @ 5:01am
Nice Chamber, well done!
nicklonium  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 1:53am
Neat, you solved it the intended way but, again, it's not that useful to me. The point of seeing a first playthrough is to see if things like antlines or symbols are clear enough, whether there are any potential shortcuts the player might've had access to if they tried hard enough, difficulty level, whether there are any choke points in a chamber where the player may become frustrated etc. Seeing someone solve my chambers is always good but first playthroughs really are the most useful thing.

Warning : NOT a first playthrough but how I solve it
nicklonium  [author] 15 Jul, 2013 @ 11:18am
I gave it a quick watch, unfortunately, as it's not your first run through, it isn't particularly useful to me. Half the fun of watching playthroughs is seeing what players attempt before finding the right solution in case there's any alternate routes I missed. The elevator can be used to get onto the button platform but the faith plate is much easier/quicker than the method you demonstrated. The trick is working out which faith plate. You're welcome to do the same with any other chamber, I'll probably watch it just to see how my chambers get solved. I'm particularly interested in how Magnesium plays at the moment.

I use the cube elevator to get up to the high platform but it's a good map!

Ok but I'm filming with a phone so it won't be perfect and I'll send you the links
nicklonium  [author] 14 Jul, 2013 @ 12:54pm
If you mean some videos of you playing through the chambers, by all means go ahead. I'm always quite interested in watching first play throughs just to see how players react to and solve the various (comparatively) simple puzzles I build.
XylOL 14 Jul, 2013 @ 12:33pm
Hey can I make some youtubes of this series?
nicklonium  [author] 1 Jul, 2013 @ 3:14am
This chamber was never meant to be challenging. More of a proof of concept and how it could potentially work as part of a larger puzzle. The issue in the first room has been fixed, the stairs are now necessary and the player is supposed to use portals to speed this chamber up but I have rearranged the first room slightly to make it a little more convenient. The sparseness of the first and last rooms is designed as a contrast to the middle room which is much busier.
Prototype 30 Jun, 2013 @ 9:37pm
All puzzles were easy, the second half of the first room can be solved without orange gel (jump from portal high on wall). And there isn't really a puzzle in the second room (move the cubes to the buttons, portal the laser and leave) The last room also doesn't have much of a challenge and all the stairs to the exit are unnecessary. The map is much to big for what it contains, and I ended up using portals to speed up the trips between items in the map.
Don't Need No Cheese 30 Jun, 2013 @ 3:17am
When placing a cube button, ask yourself: if I replaced this with a normal button, would the solution change? If the answer is "no" then use a normal button instead of a cube button. There's a reason cube buttons are only ever seen in co-op.
SSG Price 30 Jun, 2013 @ 2:54am
Ok, so as you asked, I am here with feedback... This is the first chamber of yours I'm playing, and so far it seems really, REALLY well made. The initial idea with the orange gel helping you hit the button is inovative, then, in the next WHITE room, I would adjust 2 things: 1- it is too much useless space, so I would shrink it a little; 2- the pedestal button you are required to press should have the droped cube, droped near it, above it and in that area;
The underground room was total chaos :))
Firstly if you have so many faith plates that the player can touch, at least make him fall into goo after all... I got on one and I had to quick load since, I couldn't get out of infinite cycle... The puzzle was ok overall, but you need better lighting! Work on that :D
Devourer 25 Jun, 2013 @ 10:45am
As you requested, I went through some of your tests
nicklonium  [author] 20 Jun, 2013 @ 5:16pm
There are't any lasers the player has to crouch under, only lasers to float above or jump over, for the laser grid to be at eye level/invisible, the player has to be half way up the ramp in the first room, not exactly a common occurrence.
@8MMW, If you mean the room with all the faith plates, I've kept the portal surfaces to an absolute minimum, but I can see how it's possible in the room with the speed gel. I'll see what I can do to fix it.
Llama Party 20 Jun, 2013 @ 12:57pm
Great chamber, love the variety and difficulty!
8MMW 20 Jun, 2013 @ 4:17am
I think salamander.mp3 meant the laser grids you have to crouch under. They're invisible if you stand near them.
In the second room, it's possible to get to the button without using gel, simply jumping from the wall - too many portal surfaces. Except for that, great map, I didn't know ball drops can be used like this!
nicklonium  [author] 19 Jun, 2013 @ 3:08pm
Which lasers? The grid in the the first room, the laser in the second room or the grids in the tubes? The lasers in the first room are at that height because they kill the player if they're one square higher and aren't a threat at all if they're slightly lower.
salamander.mp3 19 Jun, 2013 @ 1:43pm
Fix the lasers if possible, they are eyesight level and are invisible while standing... died 3 times untill i figured they arent ranodmly turning on XD
nicklonium  [author] 18 Jun, 2013 @ 2:40am
Unfortunately, there's not much I can do to increase the rate of gel, the faith plate trick I use throughout this chamber only works for individual blobs. If I changed it to continuous flow, the last room would be pointless.
tacticalBOVINE 17 Jun, 2013 @ 8:24pm
yet another good chamber. some good puzzle elements however i grew frustrated (especially in the final section) with the goops flying via the jumper things (whatever they are called haha). i was frustrated because, despite being aesthetically appealing, they also were very time consuming and as i attempt to get the portals lined up correctly the time between blobs coming through is very long and caused my impatient side to come out. in all a good chamber though

Wow, faith plates can move gels. Thats a first for me.
irunchik.777 14 Jun, 2013 @ 7:12pm
Very interesting puzzle... it has a lot of new ideas... in General, I enjoyed the game =^.^=

Wait a sec... Faith plates fling LIQUIDS?! (Brain explosion)_ ___ *|*_ __ *_
Blue 9 Jun, 2013 @ 5:04pm
Nice and fun chamber to play. Well done!
SkyRoots 8 Jun, 2013 @ 8:02pm
I like this one too. I got lucky and was able to solve the middle room quickly, since I randomly picked the right faith plate on the first try.
Anderung 5 Jun, 2013 @ 9:23pm
Another well concieved and beautifully strange set of puzzles. The faith plate/gel room was particularly inspired, I thought. It took me several minutes to figure out which of the faith plates what my ticket out. Kudos.
nicklonium  [author] 1 Jun, 2013 @ 3:43am
Brilliant, I was really proud of this room once it was done and I quite liked the middle chamber even if it isn't overly challenging.
Thanks for playing, good to know you had fun.
Self Destructive King 28 May, 2013 @ 3:43pm
I loved it! The room with all the faith plates and gels was awesome!
(Even if I fell into the deadly water a few times because i smacked into a flaying bit of gel when i sailed through the air. Megesticly. Like an Eagle.)
Sagi 5 Dec, 2012 @ 8:51am
Nice puzzle!
nicklonium  [author] 20 Oct, 2012 @ 5:41pm
Rest assured, it's possible but (deliberately) difficult, as a sort of punishment for not observing the faith plate pattern well enough. None of my chambers are designed to be hard but I've worked in a couple of irritating moments if the player gets a tad complacent. Thanks for playing by the way, feedback is always nice to receive.
5-Axis 20 Oct, 2012 @ 12:22pm
If you jump onto one of the vertical faith plates in the 3rd room then it's impossible to escape the loop (I think)
