Great mod, I don't see myself using it, but I'd just like to say you did an awesome job.
negreaflorin687 3 hours ago
actually pretty useful for when i have to abandon my base and escape to some random isolated place
Liliana 4 hours ago
I'm reminded of that forestry youtuber who decided to find out not just how much Sawdust effects the taste and texture of bread, but which wood tasted best. (Cedar. It was Cedar. Five percent cedar dust to flour actually added a nice flavour to the bread, apparently.)

Frostpunk players' favorite activity - feeding people wood.
Finally, some good fucking food.

Finally my pawns can understand what it's like to live in Birmingham
Sir Van  [author] 14 hours ago
@GeekyRaptorStudios Lot of it is inspired by real world famine foods, altho the saw dust/wood dust idea came from frostpunk. As for adding in famine, you can already increase it through the difficulty settings by lowering yields and the such.

With simple XML editing you can also increase the chances of blight incidents, tho i don't think i'd ever add any custom incident through this mod.

to all you hating on the sawdust in parmesian, it's kind of a mixed bag, on one it's cheaping out on the food manufacturer's part, on the other it makes an excellent anti-caking agent and preserves the shelf life a bit too. It's kind of a two sided thing, good and bad.

This mod is genius! And even based relatively accurately on real world counterparts, it'd be kind of neat to make an ideology that uses these foods and a mod that adds famine to the rim. what a neat survival idea.

Suggestion, add bugs like pill bugs, crickets, locusts and grubs for famines not in the winter but due to a dust bowl or a locust swarm devastating crops! this idea is amazing!

...the powdered kind in plastic shakers rather
[PR/FAI]HavenOnline 19 hours ago
Indeed. There's still sawdust in Parmesan cheese to this day.
Eric_Kei 19 hours ago
@DreamFree Sawdust and wood pulp can also be found in foods such as granola, etc (at least, in the US). It will normally be disguised under another name, e.g., "cellulose fiber." Renaming such things in a mildly-deceptive way is fairly common here, unfortunately.

Ah, good ole famine food. Sometimes you just need Medieval nutrient paste because randy has spawned Yet Another Volcanic Winter

I did find this though... Damn as a Dutch person I feel like cheese shouldn't be messed with like this. I guess Americans don't mind/know??

It's about how they add wood pulp to packaged shredded cheese...

If you ever want to evolve this mod. I recommend checking this if you don't know it already.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famine_food

''Foods associated with famine need not be nutritionally deficient, or unsavory.''

and

https://www.survivopedia.com/10-ingenious-foods-people-ate-during-famines/

and

Couldn't find any information on wood dust eating, but there are some cultures where the inner parts of the bark are still a part of their daily/seasonal nutrition.

Wood dust gaming.

The City Must Survive.
Sir Van  [author] 25 Sep @ 2:19pm
@Warlord Anything with MO slapped on means it needs Medieval Overhaul to be made, those are from MO

@gunningminer69 Well you can already, it just won't be any special meal but wood dust can be used as an ingredient (or eaten directly) people absolutely hate it tho. But you can feed your prisoners 50% wood 50% human meat meals

@Blue Star Maybe at one point. As for the meat texture it is from Medieval Overhaul

@WREN_PL Could be an idea, but not malnutrition because that's already in the game. Unfortunately i couldn't make that a thing for the wood dust unless i'm using c#, and i'm not really gonna bother anyone for some c# for this mod
Snuggl 25 Sep @ 1:26pm
You make really creative and cool mods and textures :)
Warlord 25 Sep @ 10:58am
How do you get a rustic oven or large oven?
gunningminer69 25 Sep @ 9:53am
@SirVan true true... mostly meant like uses human meat and saw dust, for when even the flesh of man is in short supply. Or want that extra psychological horror to slaves and prisoners with wood n man meat stew.
Dakon 25 Sep @ 9:18am
Thanks for the mod!
Blue Star 25 Sep @ 9:09am
Also, does the meat texture used in the info cards added by Medieval Overhaul, or does it come from another mod, if you don't mind me asking?
Blue Star 25 Sep @ 9:04am
If it wouldn't be a bother, could you allow some Pinewood Miche to be made with flour from Vanilla Cooking Expanded, please? I would also ask for the other Medieval Overhaul needing foods to be allowed to be made, but seeing as Fat doesn't exist within Vanilla Cooking Expanded, I feel it would be moot to ask.
