I trained the Larvae to morph, but I can't find the button to make them change. I can only make them shoot the slime. How do I make them morph?

Thank you for this mod, such a niche thing but very neat nevertheless.

Hia! I just want you to know, this is the perfect mod for me and I'm so happy you made this. I exclusively play Rimworld with a tribal insect cult, and when I saw the Hive Queen I knew I needed to base my new play through around having one. But the whole thing about larvae being separate from the insects and not growing into them ruined the whole immersion.
This mod is perfect and its everything I wanted! I am going to use it in every playthrough from now on! Thank you so much for making it!

@King Again, its already answered in the description, please read the description if you don't understand this explanation

The only things that are changed is that the:
- egg ability from the queen is now a custom egg, yes just only the queens eggs.
- any existing eggs from before the mod are not changed.
- any world generated eggs are un-changed, as they are not an egg from the queens ability.
- the morph has been added to the Larva itself , should not matter how the Larva is obtained, but may not retroactively work on already existing Larva from before the mod was added.

What I mean by it does not change anything already in the game, I mean that I have not changed or altered any core items, cocoons, eggs or systems, except for the abilities , and anything else you see is all custom content that does not modify or alter anything already in the game, so its all custom and standalone content.

OP, I managed to add my own custom cocoons and abilities! You did awesome! BTW, thank you for such a cool Mod!
King 18 Aug @ 5:34am
Sorry, I don't understand how that answers the question. When you say it doesnt change anything already in the game, do you mean already spawned, or simply vanilla assets, spawned or not?
I also was asking if they hatch with time or if a larva comes out of them, I was asking if the ones from non-queen egg sacks were subject to the same evolutionary process as the queen ones that you have altered with the mod. Ya know what, never mind, I'll move on. I thought it was a simple question.

@King It is as exactly as in the description "All changes are standalone and do not alter anything already in the game, besides changing the type of egg from the Hive Queen ability, and adding the new ability activation capability to the Larvae. So any existing eggs still pop a larva when damaged and do not hatch with time."
King 17 Aug @ 10:00am
Does this affect larva from egg sacks that can be found in other areas of the game, such as in ancient dangers, and what comes up from underground insect attacks? The eggs sacks you get from those spew out 1 larva when they are destroyed, which you can tame. Would be cool if they could be evolved.

i was looking for something like this! I would have loved this for the base game, or maybe a system of the larva changing into forms based on what it eats! thanks so much!

Hello Dragoon_103. That's an interesting mod.
So I created a mod " Improved Odyssey Insect Larva_zh
" that adds a Chinese translation for your mod and published it on the workshop. Thank you!:dslike:
Dragoon_103  [author] 22 Jul @ 9:59am
@Sn No, as I think that has its own insect, breeding, and hatching overhaul system already. Will just have to wait for them to implement compatibility with the odyssey Hive Queen with their own systems. Mine is just a lightweight single feature thing, not an overhaul, so look into just using the insectoids 2 mod if you want the whole shebang as it does that nicely.
Dragoon_103  [author] 22 Jul @ 9:59am
@Sisyphean AI queen eggs after this mod is installed should behave the same as your queen, and will hatch a larva belonging to its hive. They aren't able to morph themselves, only a player can trigger a morph.

@TurtleShroom If let me know me what mod, I could also see if I could add it manually myself to mine so they show up when you have that mod installed.

if you wanted to do it yourself, take a look at the files in my mod, open the defs folder, and the abilities xml, then just duplicate the LarvaMetamorphLocust ability def, rename the <defName> and <buildingspawnDef> to whatever you want, then go down to the CocoonLocustPlayer, duplicate that, and then you can change that <defName> to whatever you changed the first ones <buildingspawnDef> to, then change the <hatcherPawn> into whatever you want it to turn into.

Or, to be simpler and if you just want to replace what comes out of one of the morphs without adding a new ability, just change the <hatcherPawn> to whatever you want it to be. and just change the Label to whatever you want.

Is there compatibility for Vanilla Factions Expanded - Insectoids 2 ?
TurtleShroom 20 Jul @ 9:12pm
How would you implement new types of insects coming from the larvae manually? I really would like to do that.
Sisyphean 20 Jul @ 6:16pm
Very nice start for improving the insect queen. I was able to tame one on my vanilla playthrough and was kind of disappointed how frail the queen was and it's abilities. How do the insects that spawn behave? If it was from a tame queen are they part of the colony?
KamronKing 20 Jul @ 4:40pm
Thanks for the mod. I was thinking the same thing for the insect Larva.:steamhappy:

THINK KRIS THINK! WHAT ARE MY [eggs] GONNA DO?!
IceCola 20 Jul @ 4:54am
Great mod thanks
Dragoon_103  [author] 19 Jul @ 12:08pm
@TurtleShroom No they cannot, there is no dynamic system in place to recognise newly added insects, they would have to be implemented manually at this moment.
TurtleShroom 19 Jul @ 11:44am
Is it possible for Larvae to becopme other insects added by other Mods?
Spess Mehreen 18 Jul @ 8:26pm
DLed. Was needing this. Seeing how it goes.
