IronVines- I'm not sure, too be honest, that isn't one I've checked.

is this by chance compatible with CCOO?

I thought about this for a bit and I am wondering if you have sat down with the AI and say : research these things and skip this other nonsense. I am almost certain the AI says : ok here's level 1 let's research everything. Ok we finished now let's start on tier 2 research. Maybe it's not quite like that but they certainly do not plan out an optimal path like a player.

Is is possible for you to give the AI a "research flow chart" where they have either a plan A/B where they take specific research paths to get to the better tech units more rapidly? When I play the Necrons my goal is to get two Monoliths sweeping toward the enemy as a forward teleport point. Sweeping behind I will eventually have a fleet of Doom Scythes.

glythe- most players I have talked with find the Worthy only a "half-step" more challenging than just increasing the difficulty. So, fort example, Very Hard Worthy tend to be somewhere between Very Hard & Ultra Hard.

Where the Worthy stand out, imo, is when the Ai get a bit of a tough start. Usually, even an Ultra hard with a wire weed, water-logged start can be a disappointing opponent (or companion). I quash the worst behaviors- vanilla Sisters don't use faction-tactics, vanilla Chaos don't sacrifice cultists, vanilla Tau spend their influence horribly, etc. But the Worthy are able to deal with early neutrals and weeds better, making their performance more reliable.

I happen to think the Necrons are among the strongest vanilla factions. But if you know of something Ai Necrons do that could be better, let me know!

Im testing your Ork mod right in a game right now. I guess I had just assumed you were giving the AI cheats so I didnt give them a +2 bonus (which I find to be fun but not oppressive when you fight them in great numbers).

I encourage you to emphasize that your mod in no way makes the AI cheat. Making the computer play better without cheating is an incredibly noble task. Overall I detest "cheating AI" but unfortunately the vanilla computer has zero chance to win even with one "cheater boss" and with massive numerical superiority.

I do have a very wimpy mod of my own on the workshop. I was upset when the devs changed the base city radius from 2 to 1 so my mod restores the old base city radius. I was on the discord for a while and had another side modding project but life got in the way for a bit. When I came back some game elements had changed and the other mod broke so I just left it.

I look forward to seeing the finish necro mod as they are my favorite and most played faction.

glythe- Thank you!

Modding Gladius is a mixed bag. The entry into it is simple, as Proxy intended iirc. Simple ASCII files, XML format. On the other hand, plenty of frustration and dead-ends to be had. Small changes are fairly simple, but pushing the limits can be complex.

For the Worthy, countless hours of coding and testing. I strive to keep the rules unchanged: ie, no cheats. A lot of what I improve are pretty basic: leaner tech tree decisions, building less un-helpful units.

I can nudge the econ (aka building choices) and the strategy (aka tech and unit choices) fairly easily. The tactics I implement are more complex to insert, and smarter action usage is the real bear to fix.

Anyway, lots of information on Proxy Studios Gladius-modding channel on Discord, and lots of active modders who answer questions regularly!

Hi. I appreciate all modders who pour their time into a game they love.

If it isn't a lot of trouble could you briefly tell me what goes into a mod like this? Do you give the AI cheats? If you make the AI better without any cheats I think you should tell everyone that - because that is indeed a feat.

Did you figure out how to bypass the AI planning?

NOTICE - Late on the Update
Worthy Players- I spent far too much time playing Gladius and not enough time completing the debug on the update. My bad! :steamsad:
I am almost done, but certain requisition-using factions are resisting the new cooldown method. As such, I will delay the update until Sunday. Sorry!

In one week, I will be breaking all the saved Worthy games.

Hey Vaeki, these mods sound really promising! I'm definitely going to try them out.

AUGUST NOTE
Great news! I have developed a clearer, lower impact method for putting Ai abilities on cooldown.
Terrible news! When I put the update out it will _definitely_ cause crashes for pre-existing save games.
My plan is to release the update for all the Worthy Ai mods on Sept. 1st.
So, your options are:
1. Wrap up your match by Sept. 1st.
2. Save off a copy of the mod in its current state, use that to finish your match.
3. Lose your saved game.
Thanks for playing the Worthy!:steamhappy:

Muyubuyu- that's odd! Looking into it.

Nice mods buddy :)
We tried it in 1 Multiplayer Game, and the Necron never build a 2nd city. Further testing needed for a better feedback tho :D

It's an ambitious project dude! Massive respect from all of us, who's game you just help make better and better. You're doing great work.

WeavelCow- Thank you, made my day! Took me a while to get through Necrons.... they actually play well without me, so they made me agonize over whether I was improving them. Heh! But it's a fun type of agony.

Keep doing what you're doing mate, can't wait to try it out :)
