Human NPCs started to blow up into yellow gibs today for some reason
Bluekrakan  [author] 7 Aug @ 7:27am
k good, so it's just something with how SNPCs are made
killermonkey75 7 Aug @ 7:18am
not from what I can see.
Bluekrakan  [author] 7 Aug @ 6:06am
i've also wondered, is this happening with the base HL2 humans?
killermonkey75 7 Aug @ 5:56am
honestly that's better than humans making yellow blood, plus they canonically have grey blood so even yellow isn't really accurate.
Bluekrakan  [author] 7 Aug @ 4:57am
i guess, but stuff like striders and hunters are set to no blood aswell so they would make red gibs
killermonkey75 7 Aug @ 4:06am
oh. maybe you could make it check if the variable is (whatever yellow blood is) and anything else uses red?
Bluekrakan  [author] 6 Aug @ 7:35am
@killermonkey75 i think i know what causes VJ npcs to make alien gibs, is they probably have their blood colour set to -1 ( aka no blood ), and all the mod does is check whether or not the variable is 0 ( red blood ), so anything that doesn't have red blood will make yellow gibs
killermonkey75 6 Aug @ 7:21am
maybe you could add a setting to turn off yellow gibs as a whole, just for people like me who use more human npcs than aliens.
killermonkey75 6 Aug @ 7:21am
huh, I guess that makes sense, but I still wonder what causes VJ npcs to use yellow blood.
Bluekrakan  [author] 6 Aug @ 5:44am
@killermonkey75 i apologize if this is a long message.
the colour of gibs is based on the owner's blood variable, player spawned ragdolls use the material data, but things like VJ base stuff ( as i've found ) make yellow gibs. I don't assign things specific colours because that would take awhile also the goal was to make it more dynamic. I am going to add the ability to change an NPC class or model's gib colour maybe in the next update.
killermonkey75 6 Aug @ 2:40am
I've noticed gibs for unidentified ragdolls seem to default to yellow, do you think you could change that to red pls?
Bluekrakan  [author] 28 Jul @ 5:14pm
i dunno
MoonPowder 28 Jul @ 5:09pm
does this work with advanced bonemerg?
Bluekrakan  [author] 27 Jul @ 12:53pm
:shotty:
HAPPYBOY9427 27 Jul @ 12:49pm
YOU USED THE DUSK DOUBLE BARREL!!!!!!!!!!!!:shotty:
Bluekrakan  [author] 27 Jul @ 12:40pm
i dunno, it's not an issue i've had so i'm not sure how to fix it, unless you had a mod that effects blood colours in some way
76561199574982966 27 Jul @ 12:11pm
Why are human gibs yellow and not red
x b2131 26 Jul @ 7:31pm
@alex or synergy gibs
Alex 26 Jul @ 2:49am
this would go hard with smod gibs
Blubread 16 Jul @ 2:40pm
we need tf2 gibs next
Bluekrakan  [author] 9 Jul @ 1:34pm
weird, not sure why that would be happening unless you had a mod that is conflicting with it
michael 7 Jul @ 9:52am
yes
Bluekrakan  [author] 7 Jul @ 4:44am
prob not
Bluekrakan  [author] 6 Jul @ 3:32pm
@michael do you have keep corpses on
⛧Megalomaniac⛧ 6 Jul @ 12:24am
hell yeah, dark interval-esque
Ajiliffe 5 Jul @ 12:37pm
ooh, serverside player ragdoll only? does that mean jmod compatibility? Since it has an option to make player ragdolls serversided
michael 5 Jul @ 8:17am
nothing gibs at all, though i have no errors
Gordon, GORDAN! 4 Jul @ 6:03pm
(I think I've said this before, but if I have, I'll say it again because I'm not sure if I was heard.)

I wonder if you could create a list that users can use to replace models when gibbing, down to having specific models and options for gibs based on an entity's model and skin for gibs?

Also if an NPC is gibbed via a disintegrating damage type, could you code the gibs to disintegrate?
PORTABLE FRIDGE 4 Jul @ 12:18pm
BRO I JUST WANTED TO MAKE ADDON WITH SAME HL1 GIBBING-
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 10:58am
i also just added it because 1: it doesn't take much to add it, and 2: it should've been a feature from the start
Goaticus Maximus 4 Jul @ 10:57am
sick I'll keep an eye out for it!
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 10:38am
not currently at the moment, though i was thinking of incorporating something to make only explosive damage gib stuff
Goaticus Maximus 4 Jul @ 10:29am
Is there a way to make it so only explosive damage causes gibbing? At the moment shots from the revolver make people explode lmao
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 8:38am
also fun fact: this happened with striders so i had to impliment a workaround for them
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 8:36am
i'll look into it thanks
ink05448 4 Jul @ 8:36am
@Bluekrakan I found that the error occurs when the headcrab is not dead, and also when killing the example nextbot
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 7:26am
options menu was already planned, flesh gibs do use a flesh material it's just a modified one and it changes colour already (unless something broke on me without realising), was maybe thinking only from explosion damage, and yea i feel it could use improvements, though you would have to have hl1 mounted to hear the sounds.
Reveloper 4 Jul @ 7:20am
Alright here are five ideas I have for you

1 - Adding an options menu could be helpful for some players
2 - If possible add an option to make gibs only appear from explosions
3 - Flesh gibs should use a flesh material and change color based on the NPC
4 - Maybe improve the particle effects not sure exactly how but there's room for improvement
5 - Add gibbing sounds similar to HL2 with an option to switch to HL1 sounds instead

Yes I know the version is "3.2" right now but I'm just giving ideas in case you might want to use them in your addon
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 7:08am
sure
Reveloper 4 Jul @ 6:52am
May I can give some ideas for your mod?
xstallm 4 Jul @ 6:05am
finally
this is amazing and i love it
x b2131 4 Jul @ 5:28am
NICEEEE
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 4:24am
@ink05448 i also encountered that error a few times but found it was rare enough to not priotitize it, though currently not sure why it happens
Bluekrakan  [author] 4 Jul @ 4:19am
i'll try doin that, thanks for the tip
Obsidian Plague 4 Jul @ 2:51am
turn the blacklist into a file that's written to via a menu, making it one big cvar is a headache and a half and might solve that cross session issue you're having
