Binding research papers into research books would be a great qol option
Wrath 8 Oct @ 1:13am
Maybe you could tweak it and add options for heavy modded games, like "regroup research papers for all the same tech level , or same category... or 10 papers = 1 book "
I mean, there should be a way. But I still love it. Will miss it
Wrath 8 Oct @ 1:11am
This mod is superb. i really love the idea. But I realized that in my heavy modded games , I have over 1200 research projects... You see where it's going lol. I unsubscribe for now but wanted to tell you this was very fun until I reach over hundred book shelters in my storage, i mean, it's still fun but not performance friendly with too many research mods.

Thanks man
Enrico  [author] 5 Oct @ 3:57pm
Good idea
Nobody 5 Oct @ 3:39pm
Should probably have that in the description somewhere. I wouldn't have wasted research and materials on it had I known.
Enrico  [author] 5 Oct @ 12:42pm
Yeah that's the trade-off
Nobody 5 Oct @ 12:41pm
Is the research server intended to be a downgrade for research speed? Moving my research from shelves to the server always cuts my research speed down.
Enrico  [author] 4 Oct @ 9:21am
@缘神启动
I had a quick look, seems like it allows duplication of books. I can't imagine that working on Research Papers themselves, but if you just use it on books besides Research Papers, then that should be compatible.
缘神启动 4 Oct @ 6:13am
Is it compatible with Printing Press?
Lemaia Borb 2 Oct @ 7:49am
Would it be possible to need papers for tech from specifics ages? Like Medieval or lower doesnt need em but Industrial or higher does?
Enrico  [author] 28 Sep @ 8:57pm
It's been a long time since I manually checked the code for this mod and talked with the lead programmer, but I don't believe this mod ever "gives" research. AFAIK it only ever "takes".

Obtaining a research paper for a locked research through whatever glitched means should therefore never unlock said research...

Welp, whatever crazy magic occurred in your game, I guess I'm happy it resolved itself.
GoblinEngineer 28 Sep @ 8:53pm
Just a note: I had sent a caravan back to the old map to get the one thing I had forgotten(why I hadn't already abandoned it) and after abandoning the old map it restored all of the research I still had papers for on the new map
GoblinEngineer 28 Sep @ 8:15pm
Will do, thanks again
Enrico  [author] 28 Sep @ 8:10pm
In that case, I recommend turning on devmode, then turning on god mode, and insta-researching back all the research you've lost.
GoblinEngineer 28 Sep @ 8:09pm
I think it's too late for that at this point, but I'll be sure to disable that setting, I appreciate it
Enrico  [author] 28 Sep @ 8:07pm
I thought items in a caravan would stay considered by the paper spawner. Something in that regard seems to have broken in your case, which we'll have to investigate again I guess.

Please revert to an older save and disable "Spawn Missing Papers" in the settings, and re-do the transport. Sorry for the inconvenience.
GoblinEngineer 28 Sep @ 8:03pm
Via caravan. I'm doing a tribal run, I just loaded all of the papers into a caravan and headed out
Enrico  [author] 28 Sep @ 7:59pm
How did you transport the research papers?
GoblinEngineer 28 Sep @ 7:58pm
Hey, just started using this mod a few days ago and was hoping someone could clear up some confusion. I moved maps, taking all of my research papers with me to the new map. Before they got to the new map, duplicate papers spawned on the old map out in the open and started immediately deteariorating. It says I lost research I still have the papers for at the new map, but wants me to re-research them in order to build stuff from those researches. Is there a way to fix this?
Enrico  [author] 27 Sep @ 11:33am
Check out "Human Resources" mod.
lmchaykowski 27 Sep @ 9:34am
Could you please add pawn knowledge of research? For example, someone who researched autodoors or built a lot of them would remember how to make them, so a colony would still have autodoor research and be able to make autodoors even if it lost the papers so long as it had that pawn.
Enrico  [author] 24 Sep @ 5:57am
Yeah if you play with lots of starting research. If you want to disable starting research from being turned into papers, disable "Spawn Missing Papers" in the mod's settings.
黄油炖牛奶 23 Sep @ 8:58pm
之前玩的时候开局会出现大量论文在地图各地散落,现在还会有这种情况吗?
Is there still a situation where a large number of papers appear scattered all over the map at the beginning when playing, like before?
Mang 23 Sep @ 6:27am
Thats a cool idea
EmethGistan 21 Sep @ 10:56am
What if pawn created research papers to sell to traders? It would make research relevant even after everything is researched.
chive 20 Sep @ 6:04pm
But otherwise love this mod!
chive 20 Sep @ 6:04pm
So I don't know if I've done something wrong or what it could be outside of moving furniture but when I moved my research server all of the papers came out, which is no problem. The problem is, however, that now they can't be added back into the server when I only have 65 papers in it. It's in an open space and not blocked off. I don't know the problem.
Gabe Knight 14 Sep @ 8:01pm
Looks like a very interesting mod. Concept is great.
Imperior 12 Sep @ 4:32pm
@Enrico true, that makes sense. Thanks!
Enrico  [author] 12 Sep @ 4:31pm
@Imperior
Not without heavily changing the game's balancing, which this mod doesn't aim to do.
Imperior 12 Sep @ 4:30pm
Given that research is currently a way to add a lot of value to your colony's power without adding any wealth, would it be possible to automatically to add an option to assign a wealth value to research so it isn't a freebie?
ZX Zero 9 Sep @ 5:51am
@Riven Just copy and rename the book texture of this mod and will fit the medieval theme
CTH2004 8 Sep @ 5:54am
I understand why we can't make multipl;e papers via research, but would it be possible to make it so that we can "copy" papers, the idea being that only one of them is the research paper, but the others are hand-written copies. Then, if the main one is destroyed, it checks if a copy exists. If a copy exists, one of those copies becomes the research paper. Elsewise, well, you lose the research!

and, perhaps (if you want to get complex) a way to make digital copies, and perhaps even (with a comms console? a new workench?) "upload" them, meaning so long as that station has power, you have the research, even without the papers (printers let you get copies, like the first paragraph)

Just a thought!
Enrico  [author] 8 Sep @ 12:53am
Be the change you want to see!
Riven 8 Sep @ 12:49am
I like this mod a lot on my usual runs, but I wish it was also supported for a medieval run with maybe tomes or scrolls instead of folders? Anyway, thank you for a nice mod!
Enrico  [author] 7 Sep @ 11:04am
That's a vanilla Rimworld 1.5 issue when you have colonists incapable of hauling. Either update to 1.6 or make your non-dumb-labor colonists non-readers.
Morphine 7 Sep @ 11:02am
cool mod but it's kind of annoying how my pawns keep grabbing the papers from shelves, reading them and then just leaving them on the floor to degrade. no clue as to why they don't simply put them back
Fodofox 6 Sep @ 7:26am
I wish they wouldnt just forget how to fish immediately, but perhaps something like a ticking clock for when the research will be forgotten
Can I also steal enemies research papers?
Enrico  [author] 5 Sep @ 2:49am
Most people don't really interact with the endings so no idea if it works or not. Eth0 did do a patch for it at some point. Will have to research it someday.
Yo 4 Sep @ 10:54pm
Actually nvm to my nvm it seems some research r added and some are not? Im confused. Maybe a mod conflict?
Yo 4 Sep @ 10:49pm
Nvm it works with the server, wish theres just a type of compendium or a research server for lower tech or putting into a bookcase actually count toward paper being researched
Yo 4 Sep @ 9:57pm
I lost research after archonexus which i know is intended but i kept some paper in my colony and putting it in library doesnt unlock the research back? Am i missing something
Enrico  [author] 4 Sep @ 10:11am
I know a lot of players with huge modpacks (and thus huge starting research) that have the toggle off. For them it doesn't remove the point, as they interpret it as the starting knowledge being internalized. Research papers will ofc continue to spawn with any new research though!

But yeah you can also just spawn a Research Server! :)
The God 4 Sep @ 10:08am
But that would kinda remove the point of the research papers... I'll probably resort to using the dev console to spawn a research server
Enrico  [author] 4 Sep @ 9:35am
You can also toggle the "spawn missing papers" toggle which prevents your default starting research to spawn as papers.
The God 4 Sep @ 9:15am
I just launched the gravship start and there is an issue with research papers... As in the whole map is just covered with them because gravship start spawns with a lot of research, now I believe the player should start with at least one starting server so you can store the research papers on the relatively small gravship
Enrico  [author] 3 Sep @ 11:34pm
yeah research the research server
austiinos 3 Sep @ 7:47pm
is there a way for the papers to be stacked more or weighless or something? or a storage/bookcase made directly for this mod to store them more efficiently.
Gundam Pharmacist 31 Aug @ 5:05pm
Is there a reason why the Research Server would not count as storage for research papers despite having it set to its default values (priority critical, papers allowed?)
