how did you get your new regions to be pre-rotted? i'm working on a mod like this and would like to know how to flag a region as already rotten since i can't figure it out on my own

Now i'm waiting for watcher's props and effects to be released... and also few mods to be updated, mainly POM (that is needed for regionkit to work) but the work was going fine before that, i'm almost done with the 2 new regions, thanks for asking!

for 5P, adding 5-Pebbles/The Rot wouldn't even make too much sense, since fragments of a fallen rotted 5-Pebbles appear in the rotted Garbage Wastes anyway (perhaps indicating that they tried a second purge, even ejecting parts of their superstructure to rid themselves of the sentient rot. notably the rotted bits of 5P in the Garbage Wastes do seem to correlate to where most of the Garbage Wastes rot is in the base game so it makes sense that any later content 5P ejected would also land in those locations).
instead, it'd make much more sense to scatter chunks of rotted 5P/Exterior across the Shaded Citadel (sort of like Silent Construct, but with 5P in an even worse state) and Shoreline

why not corrupt silent construct and replace snow with outer rim dust. Shattered iterators that can be seen in saint's ending cutscene could also look dope with the dusty background effect from outer rim

@Elsa Fogen I would imagion that pebbles is on the brink of collapse though, if possible could you add tremors/screen shaking to the close to the leg on the rotten exterior, i think it would add to the ambience, not sure if its possible though.

@Square-brackets Rotted exterior could exist due to [spoilers] the fact that the rot originated from spinning top's rifts, [/spoiler] for example if spinning top created a rift in metropolis or something then the rot would probably infect the exterior BEFORE it weakened the leg enough for it to collapse, you have to remember the rot does damage things, but it does damage things a lot slower than pebbles rot, the reason spinning top saying "sea of lumps, forever" is because they caused the rot to enter the region in the first place, so then in the future the rot would have taken over the area, for example in the prologue the rot is actually spreading causing the "goop" to appear, in the future it has spread enough for it to have taken over the area. but i am probably looking to far into this

rotten Exterior cannot exist due to the fact all rotted regions take place after Five Pebbles collapse and into the future.

well, this sounds fun actually... at least i can just add gates and that's it lol, but anyway, i'm not making rooms from zero, i'm editing existing ones, it's much more less effort, than creating whole new region... maybe i'll do this...

when this eventually gets finished do you think you could add an option to make this mod available for vanilla scugs too - a bit like the really old rot-world mod (though i know that means lediting a lot more rooms so i cant blame you if not lol)

I have thought about this but how will sky islands be staying up? The rot would have destroyed the supports anyways i do love this idea and could you say what the name of the mod menu is in the description? its different in the remix menu i spent ages trying to find it

I think it's more complicated though, and depends on the progress of the plot in outer rim (if yk yk), but i don't remember exactly. I think after the first time you'll always end up in OR, untill it's fully grown, then 50/50 (OR or rotted region), and after the rot ending it switches to this scheme (but i may be wrong though)

It is set where a bad warp leads you! (not where it takes you outer rim or rotted regions) Your first bad warp will always lead you to a rotted region, after that if you are in an uninfected region you will warp to outer rim, if you are in an infected region then you will always warp to a rotted region

It's base dlc's feature, usually means that you need to visit the throne. I think if you bad warp after the ending, it has more chance to bring you somewhere new
But also if you warp in one cycle too many times (until your ability meter is full purple), any next warp will throw you in rotted region

i am unsure if it is this mod or another but attempting to bad warp keeps on bringing me to outer rim, i remember seeing a comment somewhere with the same issue, but as to which mod i have no idea

kind of sad the watcher didn't have more of these, really interesting to see how much of the world went to crap. i don't know if we'll get more of these as canon in the next watcher expansion update or if they just didn't include these so the game doesn't die. will probably be really cool (and painful) to wander around these (btw rotted five pebbles is already in watcher and unfortunate evolution)

tho i would rather not see poor moon in the state the strain of the world is in during the watcher campaign (she might be sad :( me no want moon 2 be sad)

Thanks, I'm happy that you liked it, but tweaking chances of getting anywhere is beyond my ability. i can ask about it, but this is just how random works. I end up in chimney somewhere 1/3 times on average, and Loloight spent 2 days trying and never got lucky. I asked my frieds to test and they didn't seem to have problems with that. but i ended up in rotted outskirts naturally like 3-4 times (considering that I've been bad warping like 100500 times), and on my first run i almost always got teleported to drainage. And i think i saw industrial more than any other
Startistically speaking, when i add more regions, chances of getting somewhere new will be higher, just because it's gonna be more regions lol

This is a very cool mod!! It was HARD, but I got through it. Great fun. Can't wait for other regions!! Potentially, could you add a setting where you alter relative probabilities of each rotted region coming up? I spent soo long warping trying to get chimney canopy....

i know pebbles wont be seen in this but i feel the key thing to differenciate this, is the idea that maybe the blue rot and the purple rot are separate entities, and they're both in a way, fighting to see who can consume pebbles

Uhhh... this is a really good one, but what I enjoyed about the rotted versions from the watcher dlc is that it wasn't plastered with the same rot walls that insta kill you like in downpour, you could actually move in between places and find it enjoyable by looking at the weird and corrupted versions of the world you knew, and the watcher developers did this right, when they put rotted walls, they usually do it at places like the ceilings or stuff where you can't just fall into by mistake, (or just slightly grasp and then die, like when you're climbing upwards) I like this idea a lot, having rotted versions of the base game, but a lot of those places are just the normal rooms, but filled with rotted walls, just like in downpour, that's not fun!
Good job regardless, I don't wanna downplay the scale of this, it's gonna be super difficult having to design like 18 regions filled with rot haha

Pipeyard - Eroded Filtration-way, Outer Expanse - Outcasted Infestation, Subterranean - caught outlet, Shaded Citadel - memorial grounds, Sky islands - reached sanctuary, Chimney canopy - chosen gateway (As in everybody goes through CC to get to pebbles), Farm arrays - grounded upsurge (upsurge is what a locust swarm is I think, and farms die bc of locust so y'know), Shoreline - stagnant collapse, Metropolis - apocalyptic municipality (thank you google), Submerged Superstructure - Drowned Corpse/Infested Corpse. And the other timelines bc Watcher can time travel (go ask Stormy Coast) Waterfront Facility - Waterborne Contamination, Looks to the Moon - Old Body of New Pests. And Rubicon for good measure - HellVirus. HEH, no need to thank me /jjjj I came up with these in 5-10~ minutes but they're good enough for me, hope you like 'em!

i think the exterior would have subregion names instead of just one name for all of it, based on unfortunate evolution's name being close to the name of its corresponding part of five pebbles. none of the other regions with rot variants have subregions though so they can't be referenced

the iterator place in the rotted regions is probably supposed to be the iterator the prince consumed, maybe a corrupted pebbles would be pretty sick imo

Since it's controversial whether the Sentient Rot is the same as Pebbles' Rot, I'll suggest a name for rotted Exterior:

"The Husk"/"The Shell"

I'm not extremely creative with names, but I think a simple name will get it across. By now Pebbles is almost certainly dead, and it's likely his Rot or the Sentient Rot have eaten most of if not all of the purposed organisms within. I definitely hope all the Rot is dead/mostly dead like in the secret region, just something to differentiate it from Rivulet's Rot.

Icepalace's "Necrotic Carapace" is pretty sick too, and does something similar to what my suggestion is, so I'd totally vote for it.

Also to reply to B.L.U.S. extremely late: Rot isn't exclusively a Pebbles thing as pearl dialogue from the basegame implies that he's not the only one who has had the Rot, just that it's "pretty bad".
