@OxTailSafu The Magnesium Firestarter was actually already in the game when I made the Flint variant. The reason in it being Flint instead of Magnesium is that Flint is a more common and primitive material to work with. It also fits in thematically with the new Knapping skill which works with Stone and Flint.
As far as I know there isn't a way to obtain raw Magnesium, perhaps in the future this will be possible though :spiffo:

With the magnesium firestarter now being a thing ingame, do you think it'd be possible to add a recipe to craft it in order to replace the flint firestarter you've made?

@killjoy it is actually in the base game, it's called a Notched Plank and it can be made from a Log, Plank, or Large Branch and a tool such as a Hand-Drill, Screwdriver, or a Knife. When combined with a tree branch it can be used to light a primitive fire, more info can be found on the wiki as well, I hope this helps :spiffo:

@DarthBrawn It only adds new items and recipes, I tried to stay as true to the Vanilla game as possible. No Vanilla items or recipes were changed apart from adding in-hand models for Lighters and Candles, but no stats were affected :spiffo:

@Gengaroshi that is part of base game already, treebranch and notched plank, just need something like a screwdriver (or other tools) to make the little holes to start fires, been part of the game for a while I believe.

would be awesome if you added some alternative to nails like wooden dowels. they would be an cheap alternative to nails but with very slow build time.

Would there be any way to add a "mine boulder" function for the big rocks that seemingly have no purpose? Or am I missing how to do it. I've right-clicked all over the various boulders and never get an option to mine them for stone.

We need a grass nest bed, for primitive survival bedding. Even if it was just a basic 2 by 1 pile of grass bed it would be better than nothing in a pinch.

The update definitely fixed things. I can now start my game! I did also want to add that I am using the craft concrete mod as pointed out by @Humanista, so that may have been the issue for me previously.

I pushed out an update changing all the recipe code to hopefully resolve whatever conflict is happening. Let me know if anyone is still experiencing a crash post update, I will be around all day today to resolve if it persists. :spiffo:

It's conflicting with Craft Concrete on the dependence of whichever mod loads first, duplicates the crushstone recipe.
Is it possible to check if recipe already exists and if does, can you disable it from loading?

I went to sleep so I didn't check if it is still crashing. However I did have the Chef mod sub but not yet enabled in the game that crashed.

Thank you for the logs @OxTailSafu , the more information the better! I really do appreciate it, the crash seems to be a very strange incompatibility somewhere and should be easy to fix once it's found. I must sleep however which is unfortunate considering the issues some are having with crashing tonight. I will be working on this again first thing in the morning, so if anyone experiences a CTD (Crash to Desktop) give me as much info as you can, if it is too widespread an issue I will roll back the mod once again and consider a new upload to avoid interrupting people's games. Thank you again to everyone who helped out tonight, I will with certainty be fixing any issues that arise and adding compatibility where I can. But in the meantime I can confirm it runs with no errors using the mod collection in the description. :spiffo:

I may need more information on the crash, I have been able to run it on old saves and new using the modlist I have linked as a collection in the mod description. Have been able to verify with 2 other modlists that it is now working, seems like it may be a mod conflict somewhere and hoping I can track down what it is so I can patch compatibility. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, I'm going to wait on rolling back until I have more feedback/data :steamsad:

2 questions that could really help me out
Do you have B42 Chef subbed?
Have you tried launching after resubscribing?

I've been working on the crash issue for the last couple hours and seems to be resolved at least in that small sample size, but if the error persists I can roll it back again.

I think there are still crashes occurring with this mod, however i'm not sure where in the console I'm supposed to copy/paste. I do see something in regards to the flint starter which I believe is your mod.

Pushed back out the newest update, I believe it was a recipe error from my new B42 Chef mod. Let me know if any other crashes or errors appear and I will roll back and/or fix them as soon as possible. Sorry to anyone that was interrupted by the update! :spiffo:

@PepperCat it's looking to be maybe some kind of weird conflict. Most of us are all running atleast 50-100+ mods. So now the fun part is to determine where the conflict is. I have confirmed atleast for my issues, I do NOT have a CTD when loading scripts in non-debug mode, and the issue only occurs for Debug Mode. Which usually indicates an out of date mod..........somewhere
