Asking the same question as Hex down here, would love to use both mods at the same time
Hex 19 Aug @ 10:43pm
Is this compatible with Realistic Tidal Lock Days ? That mod makes nights darker apparently. I'm loading RTLD after Mood Shadows and it seems stable but I can never be certain.

Upon further looking I realize there is no way to get shadows to look better than what I have, the engine cannot handle it and I start seeing shadow triangles light breaking through shadows at the top of my screen and when I zoom in its like the world has tiny dark lines. Thanks for your mod anyways, cant wait for kenshi 2!

Do we use this alongside Mood Shadows - Darker Nights or separately? These mods have been absolute game changers for me, I love the game as it is without anything that alters the gameplay but the graphics have become stale. Thanks a lot!

Nice Mod, i love the better visuals.
But i got some checkerbox visual glitch at random moments, then i restart the game and the bug is gone. I dont know how to fix this. I made some screenshots if you like to see them.
Kyzer 27 Jan @ 12:14pm
I'm not sure as I haven't really changed anything since then but I did add the other mood mods and haven't seen it since.

@Kyzer could you share a screenshot? it shouldnt be causing any kind of glitches like that this mod is super simple and only adjusts contrast and ambient color
Kyzer 25 Jan @ 2:00pm
I'm not sure what the other dude had a problem with, but I have a problem with random scaffolding or something like that casting a jittering shadow on the landscape. It's not present at all without this mod so what the hell?
iriemk 21 Jan @ 1:41pm
Hmmpf. Too bad. Then I guess this mod goes out the setup, cuz that jumpy-shadow thing is just too much for my sense of visuals.
Think I'm gonna stick with my own little darkness and day-length tweaks instead, than endure the headache it gives me having to watch shadows hop around. I'd rather have no shadows than jumpy ones, even if they be this pretty^^.

But I'll keep your other mood mods, both waves & weather. Those are both absolutely stellar work, especially waves is a new favourite of mine since I tried it yesterday, 's gonna be in every setup from now on.

@iriemk thank you, i am not sure if it is possible to change how the shadows behave beyond contrast and color. I think everything else is hard coded in the engine
iriemk 21 Jan @ 7:35am
@crunk aint dead: Probably the best looking shadow mod I tried. But I still can't stand the shadows jumping every few minutes, no matter how pretty they are^^. Is there any way to change that?
I dimly recall from modding Fallout 4 that you could play with the variable controlling the time it takes between each increment an object's shadow moves as the day passes. if you shortened that to a farction of the vanilla value, it looked pretty fluid. Is there any way to mess with that value in Kenshi?
crunk aint dead  [author] 4 Jan @ 8:23pm
@mccoyed yes it would still darken the ambient maps and have the exposure changes
mccoyed 4 Jan @ 8:22pm
Gonna seem like a dumb question but does this mod do anything if you disable shadows?
crunk aint dead  [author] 19 Oct, 2024 @ 10:14am
@Bravery i may upload a lighter version. Everyones screen is different so its impossible to find a perfect brightness for everyone
Lord Dude 19 Oct, 2024 @ 12:05am
what should I do if it's too dark?
mykomark 17 Oct, 2024 @ 10:41am
And on max settings.
mykomark 17 Oct, 2024 @ 10:40am
I play on laptop (not the best nor newest) got no problems and don't need to use any anti crash mods and etc.
crunk aint dead  [author] 17 Oct, 2024 @ 10:03am
@pnciampo check the 4 essential nexus mods listed on my modpack (Vanilla remastered for my wife). Those should fix 99% of all crashing and performance issues for most systems.
pnciampo 17 Oct, 2024 @ 9:23am
I wish turning on shadows wouldn't make the game lag so much... leading to crashing. Oh well.
crunk aint dead  [author] 16 Oct, 2024 @ 9:38pm
@Jäger shouldnt effect performance much if at all honestly, its just contrast and color adjustments
Jäger 16 Oct, 2024 @ 8:33pm
How is this on performance? I'm running Kenshi on a laptop atm and kind of a potato.
crunk aint dead  [author] 13 Oct, 2024 @ 3:33pm
@firstername this is a glitch which can occur in vanilla which is just much more prominent with darker shadows. usually saving and reloading resolves this for me.
mykomark 13 Oct, 2024 @ 2:52pm
@firstername I had same problem but changed the shadow settings and all good.
I think Real Time Shadows loves to flicker.
firstername 11 Oct, 2024 @ 8:38pm
is anyone else experiencing flickering shadows? i put this mod all the way up at the very top and some certain areas like deserts have flickering shadows when at a specific angle and it drives me nuts
DRunkCoWBoy 10 Sep, 2024 @ 2:44pm
@crunk aint dead I really cant believe how much of a difference this made. Using your mood weather as well but I had to make a few adjustments to that to get it to work as I had already edited some weathers. Its nice when I finally have a computer that laughs at Kenshi and playing it maxed out for the first time really.
crunk aint dead  [author] 10 Sep, 2024 @ 12:23pm
@DRunkCoWBoy lol thank you very much, i am working on a new mod which will make everything look even better rn <3
DRunkCoWBoy 10 Sep, 2024 @ 12:21pm
Why didnt you make your mods a long time ago. I look back on my 1k hours in Kenshi now and I feel some kind of regret, like I could have had it looking like this all along. Lol great job, thanks for the mod.
Dr. Igor Dolvich 21 Aug, 2024 @ 11:49am
Great job bro :cactusrum:
Laughing Forest 9 Aug, 2024 @ 12:17pm
Absolute legend! Thank you for the darker shadows version!
24/7Lofi-station 4 Aug, 2024 @ 6:20am
Nice! Thank a lot, crunk.
crunk aint dead  [author] 3 Aug, 2024 @ 7:50pm
@ℭ𝔲𝔯𝔰𝔢𝔡 ℑ𝔇 @Laughing Forest made a darker nights version
Laughing Forest 3 Aug, 2024 @ 11:37am
Would love to see what your version of Darker Nights would be like mate!
Asur 2 Aug, 2024 @ 9:07pm
crunk aint dead, thanks!
crunk aint dead  [author] 2 Aug, 2024 @ 5:53pm
@cursed 3d everyones monitor is different so getting the right brightness for nights is difficult. I can make a darker nights version if more folks want it,
24/7Lofi-station 2 Aug, 2024 @ 4:35pm
Look great at day time, For me night time look still bright but not as vanilla. In my opinion, night time still see easily but it depend on what people like. I love this mod at the day time and love the night time in Shadiness Lite. I must choose, sadge.
crunk aint dead  [author] 2 Aug, 2024 @ 12:51pm
@Emomia how much worse performance are you getting? this mod shouldn't have a particularly harsh impact on performance.
crunk aint dead  [author] 2 Aug, 2024 @ 12:51pm
@Asur go for it appreciate the work you do translating and patching mods!
Emomia 2 Aug, 2024 @ 12:00pm
Oh my PCCC!!!
Asur 2 Aug, 2024 @ 8:42am
Hi! I am the developer of the Second Life of Kenshi mod pack, can I take your mod? I'll put you in the credits.
crunk aint dead  [author] 30 Jul, 2024 @ 6:54am
@lizardmang glad you enjoy it! felt these mods needed a re make and I am glad it looks good for you too
lizardmang 30 Jul, 2024 @ 1:28am
Looks great! I'd been using Mood Lighting with Shadiness Lite, which also looked great, but the nights were straining my eyes a bit. This one feels perfect so far. Still much darker than vanilla nights, but I'm not squinting anymore.
