I haven't been anywhere near a computer to play DF or update the mod myself in quite a while. I'm glad you and other enjoy it. Thanks everyone for their kind words.
I made a little mod with some different engravings graphics, do you mind if I use your PNG as a template? My mod will be dependent to yours, since I didn't change anything else.
I figured it out. Regardless of what your "Obvious Engravings" setting is, the tiles ONLY load and show the "obvious" tile sheet. Which the mod does NOT replace.
FIX
You have to go into Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\vanilla\vanilla_interface\graphics\images
Replace wall_stone_engraved_obvious.png
with wall_stone_engraved_perspective.png
which you can find in Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\installed_mods\perspective_walls (25)\graphics\images
Ive literally replaced the vanilla file for stone walls engraved.
Deleted the installed mods folder (because sometimes it prevents mods updating).
Created brand new worlds.
Still, engraved walls will never use the perspective graphics..
Even when the VANILLA file is REPLACED? Where is my game loading the engraved wall sprite from? Lol its insane.
I am using https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2903048024 and Detailed Environment, as well as Rounded Hills and Transparent Glass.
But i dont see why those should affect it since smoothed walls look 2.5d'ified but engraved doesnt.
Anyways it'd be cool if one day walls transition into ramps nicely instead of looking like you can't walk over them.
That said, I've been trying to make graphics for the engraved metal walls, but I keep getting a error of "Unrecognized tile".
I'm not a modder in any sense, so I just tried to add a "METAL_BARS_WALL_ENGRAVED" in the graphics_tiles and tile_page_environment, and got no lucky. It seens that the engraved metal walls do not function like the stone ones, do you know if it's even possible to do this?
good job!
I hope this helps out anyone in the future (I saw quite a few people got confused by this in the past), and thank you for the quick help! Mod looks awesome. :)
From what I can tell it only affects fortifications, no problems with anything else.
@Kōdo, interesting, I haven't encountered that bug myself, and I cant seem to replicate it. Are you running any other mods etc?
This is on windows. Could it be the SDL2 update?
It's a neat mod anyways, thanks for trying to help.
Ill keep looking and see can I reproduce it myself or find someone who has similar issues. Apologies again for this!
-checked that the files were in the DF mod folder and everything is in place.
I'm running via proton on linux so i might just have to wait for a native linux build. XD
When generating a world It still gives the same error message(missing tileset) & crashes. x|
(it still says conflict with Obvious Engravings which i don't have)
I do have "Stoneworking Expanded" so will try to disable that first.
Can you unsub and ensure that the following folders are not present:
steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\mods\2913113231 (25)
steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\installed_mods\perspective_walls (25)
I know sometimes when you unsubscrube via Steam Workshop it doesn't actually remove the files that are present, so the game can still load them.
Did you have Obvious Engravings installed at any time?
