I love Steam. It has been with me since I was a kid. Now I have gone over the age of 30+ and I am still here. Time is going by very fast it seems. The many days gaming till the sun comes up and I still don’t want to go to bed until I finish that last quest or mission. Or simply find a save point. Because I want to finally go to sleep. Or I just simply want to spend more time with friends cause just their presence means everything to me. Each and every one of you.

Sadly there are still issues like any platform that need to be addressed. Or at least be aware of.

I will begin this part with this.
For anyone on Steam make sure you always have as many safeguards on as possible to protect your account. That includes your emails. Put on two factor authentication. Make it impossible to get into. And make sure you don’t put in your information on fake steam pages or phishing sites. Make sure you also don’t install malware that can make attackers see your computer or take it over remotely and so on. They can simply be files in a folder from a mod from a site that can do their thing afterwards. Yes they simply just have to be in the extracted folder.

Now, to those that want to do harm on Steam, karma will get you back someday. And to those that want to do good, I salute you. For all those that are looking for new friends to game with and just have fun, and those that I’ve met in game, loved playing with you. To the many times I found myself on forum posts of helpful wonderful people with that one helpful comment to fix an issue that saved me. Thank you. And overall I love you all!

Now a major issue I have encountered recently on the countless people being attacked on Steam today. I’m with you. Because I was attacked. It's happened to my brother. And I have seen many others who it's been done to. It is not fun.

Many inventory items are outright stolen or gifted to other users. I have personally lost over 130ish items that were shoved into the market and games in my inventory were gifted to other users. Without my permission. And while I was on Steam itself playing games. I don't know how it is done but it is crazy. And Steam notifications was not telling me this was happening.

Slowly I am going to get all my inventory items back one by one. Or at least most of it. Because there is no use crying over it. This stuff happens to the best of us.

Steams response was fast to. Although disappointing with how the market is done they won’t return most of what was stolen. The good part is I can buy everything back. But I’m glad I could talk to a few good people addressing the issue I had with Steam support. Everything is fine now.


Though there are issues I have with how Steam goes about the inventory. I think it should be discontinued. This would end these many attacks on many innocent gamers simply because of their inventory items. Or end trading in the way it's being done currently. I’ve always thought the card system was silly including skins for games that can be sold to other users. This makes problems in areas. Some major. Hearing someone sold their car to buy a skin is outright stupid to me. And a scam in its own right. But that means skins and trades can be a business to some. But it should not be a business at all. In my opinion.

But overall, after spending the crazy amount of money I have on my Steam over the years, I do realise none of us also have physical copies of our games. Which is also concerning to me.

All in all from this experience I’m going to quadruple efforts in protecting myself as I do plan to stay here long into the future. And I hope you do as well.

In the meantime I’m going to keep playing games and act like this is a minor hiccup in my life that was a lesson well learned. Also not click links on Steam all the time in the forums. I wonder if that’s how it happened? But regardless all of you be careful with links, weird .exe files, and make sure the site you are on is the actually legit site and not a phishing one.
