Very problematic game. On one hand I really like it, on the other it is obviously buggy, UI clunky, stiupidly limiting in terms of player actions.

Need your dwarves to get bandages and tend wounded? Too bad, doctor doesn't feel like working.
Are you dreaming about a fortress where every dwarf trains melee or ranged combat a bit, celebrating wide self defence culture? NOT A CHANCE - some will be training even when training session is not scheduled, which distrupts their work. Ranged guys will decide to not pick up quivers and arrows, as they preffer to whack with a crossbow in close range. Ah, and miners / woodcutters won't be able to switch between their combat weapon and work tool, so have no fun with that.

I could be going like that at least a bit more. I'd love this game having more controll and a bit clearer UI.
I still like it, but would I recommend it ? Absolutley not, its not that it is demanding to learn (learning curve to me is fine), but rather very frustrating to learn that something seemingly obvious can't be done or requires weird, micro-managing intense workarounds.

I will coerce you the ♥♥♥♥ into playing fortress mode with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ words. You think you can get away with not playing Dwarf Fortress? Think again, ♥♥♥♥♥♥. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of cheesemakers across the lands of Armok and your footsteps are being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that will make you beg for fortress mode until you drop. You're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ playing Dwarf Fortress, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can make you play fortress mode in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of 7 entire mountainhomes and I will use it to its full extent to sit your miserable ass up in the face of fortress mode, you little ♥♥♥♥. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tongue. I don't usually do this, but OH MY GOD IS THIS GAME TOTALLY WORTH EVERY CENT
So pleasing to play. Wonderfully complex. Arcane. Makes me pose questions about the nature of our own reality.

You haven't lived till you have tried 20 hrs of this masterpiece. You probably haven't lived till you hit 10k hours. I have work to do.
