Might not be a bug, there's a few nuances to how XP works and what the mod does.

There's a FAQ that covers what bonus XP is, and other things. There's also mods that award bonus XP flatly which causes issues too.

To make leather strips you need scissors, yes.

Some mods that alter XP rates do so in a way that conflicts with the vanilla method.

It's hard to say that is what you're seeing though.

Is it normal to lose experience?
On the server, when we level up a skill (carpentry, tailoring, first aid, etc.) to 10, we write it in the book. When we die and read it, most people stay at level 8 or so. We don't use profession boosters or perks, just the books.

For B41: I re-added the old decayed item itself -this *should* fix the issue with people still having decayed journals around (somehow).

This is an advanced feature, you'd have to find the key in the mod you'd like to support. Whatever string the target mod adds to the modData for the player.

For those of you having similar issues, tl;dr dedicated servers failing to update or download this mod or others in the workshop, Force an update of SteamCMD on the server side. Been struggling with this for a few days with this specific mod and a few others that have updated recently.

If that's true then I would not know why Steam is failing to download the mod. Sorry.

Self hosted by a friend using pterodactyl panel, game files and mods update automatically upon reboot, with daily reboots. It's dedicated.

And there's no errors in your log other than "failing to update/download"?

The only mod that is currently failing to update is this one in particular, I am not having issues with any of the other mods I use. If I take this one out it works perfectly fine.

If you mean the download issue, there seems to be lingering issue for some people.

Last month there was an update to the SDK for steam that broke any server's ability to update mods. It was fixed around the start or right before this month.

When was the last time a mod was updated on your server? Are you having issues with all mods or just some?

It is steam not sending the item, could you possibly make a small change to get the mod to send back out from your end?

Looks like the mod is broken for servers? Crashes server when it tries updating, seems to be timing out when watching the console.

Also for what it's worth, those two issues sound very different.

No, not illiterate and I've tried every pen and a pencil. My friend's character can't get it to transcribe either.

I don't think has to do with this mod, but sorry it's happening. The B41 version was not touched.

Every time we try to start our B41 server up to play multiplayer. This is what happens so to me this is broken because it's been almost two days and I don't think it's workshop not downloading right at this point. It was fine until the update which is why I said I might have to wait until we do a B42 server.

I'm having an issue where the option to transcribe into the journal doesn't show up for some reason, we have the journal and the needed writing utensils. Playing multiplayer with a friend hosting, we've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mod but have had no luck.

There is a sandbox option for any modData on the player - it's an advanced feature. And you'd need to know how that mod works internally. If you're not sure what any of this means you can break your save/server.
