Awesome mod, the only "downside" is the elite pikemen are even weaker to missile fire than base game, a group slingers with the lowest stats can mow down elite pikemen in seconds with this mod on. With the mod off, the base slingers aren't as deadly. Just an observation for others, not a complaint!

Dude if you want the pikes to act you should try to copypaste PIKE_FRONT_ATTACK_1-5 and rename to PIKE_HIGH_ATTACK_1-5 at the bottom of the file

I love this mod. Would you consider adding Boicote's 'Pikemen start battles with pikes' mod into this? Both yours and his mod alters many of the same animation files so they cannot be run separately.

Good job but the fourth row is useless !! The fourth row pikes do not make any damage,pikeheads are to inside the pikes unit to make damage. Test it by yourself with 3 and 4 rows and you will see the same result in kills. Sorry but as I said above this is useless.

I just tested this mod and it still works fine. Enable out of date mods and then try using it without any other mods enabled, to make sure there isn't a conflict.

yeah, I looked into animations_fragment and there he uses pike_front, _low, _high, i just don´t get how to change it, i just wanted to know if it was possible...
I just have no idea how to change it, please say it´s actually easy as pie as soon as you get into it^^

@Affenbaron: The only way you could do that is if there are seperate animations set for each row. In normal pike animations they are pike front, pike high and pike deep. I wouldn't know if hoplites have distinct animations for each row in that mod.

hey mate, I´m trying to change Phalangitis´ new Hoplite Phalanx system for the better, he somehow combined both Hoplite animations with Phalanx behavior, but in his mod the second and third rank lower their spears too, which I´d like to avoid, is it possible to have only the first rank use their spears? I´ve tried looking into it, but i miserably failed...

@Andreas of Sparta: There seems to be a hidden setting somewhere under the phalanx formation that sets their weapon and animations to pikes. I'm not sure how to change the setting or if you even can, so it can be added to square formation.

Great mode friend!!!But can i asked you something?I added in macedon pikemen the pike square formation but in battle in the square formation they have swords instead of pikes...in pike formation they are ok with pikes active in 4 lines....do you know why?i tried it without your mod and the same again....i tried it without any other mod and the same again...so your mod is working fine but why pikemen in pike square formation have swords instead of pikes?can you help me with this???

@markonex: I came up with a compromise. The 5th rank and further back will keep their pikes up but lower them to attack if an enemy gets in range.

@markonex: Unfortunately there's no way I can do that. I cannot change how many rows are in each animation set so pike front is the first 3 lines, pike high is the 4th and pike deep is every row behind that. The way I have it now is I have given ranks 1-3 and 4 the pike down animations and the lifted animations to rows behind.

The only way to have 5 rows deep is to have every row have their pikes down lol, which wouldn't have any disadvantages other than looking bad and not being historical. As pikes don't block missiles there isn't any point to having them up other than being aesthetic.

Great job Salmon, I would ask you if it's possible to have a similar mod with 5 pike attack rows instead of 4; as in the Rome 1 phalanx system, it would be really fantastic and i think that in reality phalanxes used 5 rows of sarissas in the front to create the spear wall, if you do this, i will begin to play Rome II with much more pleasure, cause it's one of my most wanted feature in the greek world. thank you so much..

the issue was caused by another mod, disabling said mod or using mitch's manager, with your mod as priority, fixed any issue there was earlier, not your mod's fault, again, cheers for great mod

great mod, but i noticed while using it, why is it that while the first four lines do indeed have their pikes down, every other line has pikes at 45 degrees? tested it with macadonean foot companions. i liked it how you had the 3 distinct phases of pikes down, pikes at 45 degrees and pikes at 90 degrees. looked awesome. so would it be possible for you to make it so that the first 4 lines are pikes at the ready, the 5th line is at 45, and the rest are at 90?

@Theodore: There are only 3 options with pikeman pike front, pike high and pike deep. Pike front is the first 3 lines, pike high is the forth line and pike deep is every line behind that. All I can change is their animations so if you want pikes to go four ranks deep then you can't have pikes go higher as you go further back. If I could I would make pike front be the first 4 or 5 ranks.
