Here's hoping the author revisits this mod some day to address these bugs...
It sounds great and I am looking forward to trying this, but not enough to risk such issues.

To confirm, brand new game and every new colonist arriving has a wedding ring and child icon but no family in the colonist table. Decided not to continue to see if the other bugs are true, such as suffocating newborns. :-(

I really like the idea of this mod, but it does seem to have a couple bugs. The newborn are suffocating on my save as well.

Also everyone who is pinned to the taskbar has a symbol of a ring on the bottom left of their icon and a symbol of a child on the bottom right. I'm thinking the ring is supposed to symbolize they have a partner, and maybe the kid means they are taking care of a newborn? The problem is it shows the ring on all pinned colonist whether they have a partner or don't have a partner. The child icon shows on everyone as well whether they have a child or not.

put in filler domes along the route they walk so they don't go for a mars walk. Or make a breathable atmosphere.

Love the detail put into this mod! I experienced a glitch though, as soon as the first kid was born it died from suffocation even though there was plenty of oxygen in the dome.

Not sure if this was a side effect of installing this mid-game, but when I select a colonist from a home or workplace menu their stats menu is blank. Very similar to the behavior Pyxelfish was encountering.

Yet another great mod to add 'content' to the game. I use most all of SkiRich's mod's including Career A.I. etc....hope they don't conflict. Will be starting a new game once I get all my preferred mods installed.

I'm experiencing the exact same behavior as pyxelfish. I can provide logs if needed. Unfortunately for me I'll have to disable this mod for now, but the concept sounds awesome :)

LukeH, thanks for your work on this fantastic mod, it's a lovely idea. However I've found a bug, which I've reported here [forum.paradoxplaza.com] and posted screenshots.

The bars showing Affection, Morale, Comfort and so on on each inhabited dome showed as empty, and if I hover over one, even accidentally for a split second, an empty tooltip appears (always in the same place on the screen) and will not disappear for love nor money - even on the main menu screen. The only solution is to quit and restart the game.

Because of this frustration, I'll stop using the mod for now, but if I can provide you with logs or anything that might help please tell me.

I believe that's how it's set up in the mod. Or at least they get an affection hit, which hits morale anyway. No way to tell who is descended of the founders unless you keep track, but thats more a computational limit of the game I think, they don't even track who makes who.

Was actually discussing something like this today on /r/SurvivingMars. I thought one of the more interesting features of Tropico was the tracking of family lineage. It might be fun to know in late game how many of your colonists are direct descendants of the founders. Maybe if grandpa gets airlocked (so to speak), the other family members take a morale or sanity hit.

Regarding my post from Jan 18, I was able to continue the game by disabling this mod, getting passed the crash point and then re-enabling and reloading. It still crashes randomly, sometimes going for quite a long time. Currently I'm in a period that is crashing often for some reason. I just have to disable the mod and all is well. As I said before, I love the concept of the mod and was always wondering why there were no family connections in the base game. Truthfully though I find I don't have any real connection to any particular colonists. Because of this the family connections don't actually matter much in practice. Maybe there's just too many. I think the roleplay aspect would be greatly enhanced if there were 'management roles' in the game, ie base commander, chief scientist, chief engineer, etc.

Currently at Sol 47 and have some event/action triggered by mod that results in a freeze. I can continue by disabling mod. I did a full analysis of all mods to narrow it down completely. Running only this mod and dependency produces the freeze. I disabled births thinking that might be it but no...My hunch is it has something to do with switching homes, getting booted or some such. I love the concept of the mod but find the micromanagement of homeless children frustrating. I even tried overbuilding residences but to no avail. It also seems the little urchins won't go to the nursery, granted I'd only built one. I may try another game to see how it goes.

Ha - funny enough, I played for a couple hours today and it didn't crash once. I will keep playing on that save, and if it crashes, I will share the logs. Cheers!

This is one of my favourite mods, but unfortunately my game crashes constantly when I have it activated and my colony starts to get big.

I understand that this can happen and will try to tune it more. Yet one must see this mod is a very long shot at what the base game is doing and the difficulty to test it yet, imo, amazing on how much modding allows...
One other hand, while I acknowledge the possible issues, I would say this mod is aimed at people who played the base game (and other mods) to death already and are up for a new challenge being ready to play it differently in order to accommodate the new stat, just doing what you do without this mod is somehow supposed to get you in trouble.

ok so this current playthorugh hasnt imploded from stupid reproduction, but I have noticed that colonists are horrible about trying to maintain their own affection;
Namely, parents will move to another dome, and leave the kid homeless, or the kid moves domes because their home dome is full. either way I had a ton of renegades, i think partly because of the affection penalty

Just some feedback after 210 sols of playing, population is a solid 3100 with only about 150 earthborn

@Rastro hmm....this mod doesn't change in any way the rate at which children are "produced". That's still as per vanilla game, I just assign them to a family once they are born.

Feedback; do not take the forever young breakthrough. a third of my population is children, I have homeless children in every dome that wont take normal apartments, and so many playgrounds So many. It was fine until the seniors could breed, then I was having couples with like four kids each.

I had a couple CTD just trying to load the game up with the mod installed, but then I managed several hours of gameplay until the game froze. I've actually never looked through a crash log in SM, so I'm not sure what to look for in it

This mod makes my game crash frequently. I've tried changing up my mod list several times, and it's definitely this mod causing the crashes. I like the idea of needing to manage family units and relationships, but I unfortunately have to unsub :'(

Thank you for the comments and suggestion! Admittedly the colony is still kind of in its early days, so will keep playing with it and see how things evolve in regards to immigration. I will let you know if I have any more feedback or comments. Cheers!
