I'm using Definitive Edition and loving the game so far.
1. But despite enabling this mod through Steam and the Main Menu of the game, it doesn't work: both the joint bartering and joint sneak functions simply don't exist. I've also put this mod as the top priority for loading (as you can determine order in the Main Menu).
2. Where do I access "Settings" to enable these? There isn't a "Settings" option when i press ESC to get the in-game menu up.
3. I've also disabled "Haggler" in the Gift Bag, as it doesn't work as well. I also thought it may be incompatible with this mod.
3. Would be grateful for some help. Thanks :)
Thus if you install this mod halfway through a playthrough, some of your traders will obviously have different attitude towards different characters, so you must manually fix this by changing the attitude of that trader with the character of the highest attitude with that trader.
Will it break my save?
Thanks!
The experience was very dreadful initially due to DOS2 editor and documentation being outdated, hard to find, buggy and just straight up annoying.
Later on someone told me I can just unpack, edit files and repack without ever touching this garbage editor and then I finally did my own edits to this mod and few others.
So yeah, the outcome of LL's reply was pretty useful to me in the end.
@SpaceMilk Bartering Tweaks has more options, including sharing persuasion in dialog, group sneaking with one button (for chained members only), and additionally sharing attitude bonuses in trade alongside bartering (an extra option). Hagglers reporting has issues in multiplayer as well (traders reacting to trades negatively and lowering attitude).

The table is called "ST_BarteringTweaks_Books", and overriding it would looks like this, in a mod's text file at Public\ModName_UUID\Stats\Generated\TreasureTable.txt:
new treasuretable "ST_BarteringTweaks_Books"
new subtable "0,1"
object category "Gold",1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0
Reopening the trade window fixes it but still it happens every time the stock gets refreshed.
Could you please add a workaround for this? If even possible.
I could reproduce your issue but it only happens because attitude wasn't changed in the game.
So just keep the features on and future attitude adjustments will get updated correctly.

@Liam The highest persuasion in the party is used, if persuasion sharing is enabled.
Thanks
Also, don't think you should feel bad if x player picks Larian version over x mod. It's not like Larian would've made these "gift bags" without the ideas from you guys.
The modders from this game added countless hours of enjoyment and QoL and only reason certain Larian mods and more immersive/better/whatever is because the modding tools available aren't exactly Skyrim level.
I'm sure that if you guys had the proper tools the polish level would be on par if not better than Larian.
Anyways, thanks for considering an alternative to the books even if nothing changes.
Honestly I wish we just had proper UI/menu modding support, so we wouldn't have to use dialog menus for this kind of stuff.
Oh yeah, I was necessarily implying that either! Just that what you said, "after the Larian Pet Pal mod there's no need for it." when presented with an alternative to the gift bag, is a bit sad from a mod author's end, as unfortunately many players will now choose the Larian version of the community one, since it's from the official devs, regardless if it's better or not.
Sorcerous Sundries for instance overrides every single weapon stat (even NPC weapons) to add a crafting category, while the original Level Up Equipment mod does not. Inherently this is a huge compatibility concern, as gift bag mods always load after regular mods when loading a save, so Sundries in this case is reverting any changes mods may make to those weapons.
I'd use the books at the start, config everything then throw them in a bag in my inventory and enjoy the improved experience without ever touching the books again.
Now they're in vendor stocks and feels like improved vanilla but with clutter added that serves no purpose to me personally.
That's why I love options, to fit what I enjoy which is mods that feels like they're part of the base game.
I get that this is some immersion/OCD level of issue and really wanted to mention it.
But at the end of the day they're your mods and you decide what gets added/changed and compatibility is more important and regardless of what changes I'll still use them because can't play without them.
I've been using Bartering and Sprint mods since they got released as they're such a huge QoL that I can't play without them.
The Pet Pal part is not needed anymore since Larian version can't be exploited and therefore is better in that regard. That's a side feature of the mods and not them as a whole. Sorry if I wasn't clear before and made it seem disheartening.
I never used Pet Pal mods before either because of them being exploitable, that's a separate thing and not related to the purpose of Barter and Sprint mods.
As for your last comment, I didn't think about B and after trying it you are indeed correct that the book can't be used with the Larian mod on and can't disable it either which removes the exploiting part.
The book should be blocked if you:
A. Have the pet pal talent.
B. Have the pet pal tag.
C. Have already used the book.
So if you're using the Larian mod, that satisfies B, and you shouldn't be getting the talent from the book. If you are, that's a bug needing to be fixed.
I could simply add an option to make it be in tag-mode if you enable it, and LeaderLib would preserve that as a global settings, if the extender is active.
There's a valid place for community mods to remain and continue to exist, as not only do they tend to work better, but mod authors can update them quicker if needed.
It also isn't a "Pet Pal book", it's a free talent book. You use it, respec and get a free talent for gold while the Larian one can't be exploited.
I DMd you ages ago on Discord and you said there could be a way to make the Pet Pal appear only during dialogues then disappear to prevent exploiting it but you had no time to change it.
I fully get that it's impossible to please everyone and that's why options exist.
For example Odins mods have an option to remove his traders and transfer their stocks into the vanilla games traders which is a feature that I really like because it makes his overhauls feel like part of the base game.
Would it be hard/time consuming to add a similar option for your mods too?
Like "Enable Pet Pal book to appear on certain traders: Yes/No"
The pet pal book existed long before Larian's mod, or the free pet pal one. It was there since Civil Auras. It's there for those that don't want to add an additional mod (or open up the gift bag menu and deal with that whole process). It being something you have to buy instead of get for free is offers an alternative playstyle (the price could even be increased quite easily). Finally it has Divinity Unleashed support.
Not sure what your feedback is here. It's just an alternative option. The books don't spawn on every trader - Just specific ones separated by Acts.
It's more of a Leaderlib feature imo.
Like if I get this mod and toggle sprint i want what they do, not added items onto traders and if I lose the config book then I'll quickly get leaderlib and problem solved.
Larian Pet Pal works (from my experience) without any issues with mods so don't understand why a book is needed, especially in a Bartering/Persuation mod.
It's so people aren't required to have LeaderLib if they need to buy the books.

If that process is failing for some reason (does your Windows username have non-Ascii characters?) then that could explain why some mods would work and others not. Some mods are just stats / item changes without any story scripting.
Im playing in multiplayer.
I also play with mod that unlocks achivs, but it doesnt break my game
I can definitely quickload/load on my end with Bartering Tweaks.
