I recommend using Drunk Flamingo's Mod configuration menu for troubleshooting. After you edit the .pack file, start a new campaign to make sure the mod still shows up in the Mod Config Menu. I myself then like to run a 50 turn campaign autorun to check how the changes you made affect the balance. Using Crynsos's mod, Modding Tools: Campaign Autorun.
Eltharion on mortal empires seems perfect for a survival campaign!
The mod itself is also out of date, and buffs most LL factions by default, but with a little effort you can update this yourself and pick and choose which factions get the auto resolve buffs (against other AI only). All you have to do is use the program "Pack File Manager" to edit the major_empires.pack file located in the \Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\594570\1345182733 folder. You can then add in the new factions and swap around existing factions. With this you can buff auto resolve resolution for either Chaos/Destruction OR Order to create survival campaigns from either perspective.
The rest of the doomtide will take a little while to get going. As long as the evil factions infight, the power increase equals itself out. So you have some time to prepare. But as soon as the AI confederations begin in mid/late game, that is when darkness will spread.
Additionally, the changes that you suggest are much more complex in nature and tend to conflict with many other mods. I like to keep it sleek.
