Great mod,. An octagon shape would be super nice.
Vintage Fruitcake 2 Oct @ 3:10pm
Can we get a special harbinger tree designation? To match the current designations for sun lamps and trading beacon except harbinger tree shaped.
Wolf Renegade 26 Sep @ 11:11am
Honestly the extreme hook idea in my opinion should be on by default unless it causes unknown issues, since it'll just hide something that this mod already does 10x better.
Invincible 25 Sep @ 3:35am
It disppeared on my second screen, what do i do plz ?
Merthykins  [author] 22 Sep @ 11:40am
If they can't adjust it, I'll add a more extreme hook to hide it forever and always.
Wolf Renegade 21 Sep @ 11:49am
I will try and ask, thank you.
Merthykins  [author] 21 Sep @ 8:48am
Based on the comments on that mod, they are manually bringing up that menu. You should ask them to disable that feature.
Wolf Renegade 20 Sep @ 4:50pm
I think I've narrowed the issue down to the Pipette tool Mod. it seems when choosing an item it brings up the menu but otherwise it doesn't show up as you mentioned.
Wolf Renegade 20 Sep @ 9:50am
Unfortunately yes, I've just recently did a full wipe for 1.6 due to some tps issues but whether that's now or before it doesn't seem to hide that menu for me.
Merthykins  [author] 20 Sep @ 7:15am
Yeah, that should be hidden when my menu is displayed, no matter what. So for you it's still there no matter what?

I think you might need to unsubscribe and resubsdribne.
Wolf Renegade 19 Sep @ 5:36pm
@Merthykins I've just gotten around to testing your solution in game but it didn't seem to change anything for me oddly enough. Just in case this [i.imgur.com] is what I mean. I've tried all the settings that I thought could interact with it with no luck sadly. do you have any suggestions?
xuelin 19 Sep @ 10:39am
It seems incompatible with Draw from Center, I am unable to make Draw from Center effective in this mod environment
Wolf Renegade 14 Sep @ 5:14pm
Thank you! :happycthulhu:
Merthykins  [author] 13 Sep @ 1:10pm
There should be a setting in the mod settings (Go to settings -> Mod Settings -> Designator Shapes) that says "Allow collapsing the interface." If you uncheck that, the Designator Shapes interface should be the only shape interface.
Wolf Renegade 12 Sep @ 4:27pm
Hi @Merthykins can you elaborate a bit further on disabling the base vanilla shapes and how to hide them as I am of the same mind as @Huehuecóyotl and can't exactly find it
Merthykins  [author] 4 Sep @ 3:18pm
You can use press the alt key to restore it. There should be a setting that makes it so it doesn't hide automatically when it's toggled, so check mod settings for that.
Bird Is Crazy 4 Sep @ 11:36am
I accidentally toggled a thing and now I swap shapes with q/e and I don't have filled rectangle anymore. How do I fix this?
Huehuecóyotl 26 Aug @ 9:10pm
Thanks!
Merthykins  [author] 26 Aug @ 7:31am
There's a setting in the mod settings to disable the toggle ability of the interface. With that disabled you should only see the designated shapes shape menu.
Huehuecóyotl 25 Aug @ 9:35pm
Is there a way to disable the vanilla shapes menu so I can just use this mod instead? I've used this mod for years and the vanilla one just gets in the way lol
Merthykins  [author] 20 Aug @ 12:01pm
Oh! That's very helpful! Thank you so much I will look into fixing that
arl85 20 Aug @ 11:55am
interesting enough, orders affected seems to be almost all area-related. Plan, build/remove roof, extend area, growing zone, stockpiles, etc.. but... flooring seems not affected.
arl85 20 Aug @ 11:37am
Since I see you're very active on this mod (and because I really love it) I investigated the "flood bug" some people reported and found how to reproduce it

https://imgur.com/a/lS2fhNp

basically fill will overflow if there's an order on one of the walls of a room, in this case I tried with a raw stone wall and several orders (smooth but also mine - not shown in screenshots)
Zaphiel 20 Aug @ 10:41am
Thank you very much! <3
Merthykins  [author] 20 Aug @ 10:37am
It adds a new shape palette with the following:
- Line (including diagonal and freeform (not in vanilla))
- Rectangle
- Grids and inverted grids (for strip mining or dorms, etc.) (not in vanilla)
- Ellipse
- Circle (not in vanilla)
- Pentagon (not in vanilla)
- Hexagon (not in vanilla)
Also includes these pre-defined object shapes (both filled and outline):
- Sun lamp (not in vanilla)
- Orbital trade beacon (not in vanilla)

There's also a flood-fill tool, as well as undo/redo functionality when the game is paused.

Adds the following shapes to the default shapes menu:
- Freeform line
- Midpoint circle
- Sun lamp outline and fill
- Orbital trade beacon outline and fill
Zaphiel 20 Aug @ 10:34am
Hi, I am returning back to RimWorld again. Could I ask what this mod adds on top of new functionality added by the Odyssey DLC? Thank you! :)
Merthykins  [author] 20 Aug @ 10:34am
(THough I am able to get the shape back to its orignal with resetting the thickness.)
Merthykins  [author] 20 Aug @ 10:34am
Hm, yeah, thickness for the special shapes isn't working the way it's supposed to right now. It should function just like squares, where the lines themsleves get thicker. I'll look into this.
arl85 20 Aug @ 10:28am
just another couple of suggestions:
1) do not allow to increase thickness for special shapes (sun lamp etc) because after messing with them seems to be no way to reset to original size. If someone want to play with thickness may use a normal circle
2) do not allow a negative thickness: that messes things up a lot and that not allows people to bring back thickness to 1 keeping "-" pressed
SaintBerlín 20 Aug @ 8:36am
Flood fill somehow doesn't work, it fills insde and outside an empty room
VitaKaninen 19 Aug @ 5:26pm
Working now, thanks!
Merthykins  [author] 19 Aug @ 5:04pm
Ok, I pushed an update that should fix the options menu. Note that the alt-toggle and hide completely options need both allow toggling and enable keyboard.
Merthykins  [author] 19 Aug @ 4:45pm
Oh oops! Let me fix that!
VitaKaninen 19 Aug @ 3:22pm
Well, I checked that box, and it made all the other options disappear, and I can't get them back.

Nothing I click on will take me back to the other window, or undo the setting.
VitaKaninen 19 Aug @ 3:06pm
I see, thanks.
Merthykins  [author] 19 Aug @ 2:56pm
@VitaKaninen: The hide and alt-collapse options are only enabled when "Allow collapsing" is set to true:

VitaKaninen 19 Aug @ 2:08pm
@Merthykins, I don't have either of those options. https://imgur.com/a/DvqMS5N
Merthykins  [author] 19 Aug @ 1:31pm
Sounds like you have the "Hide completly" option on in the settings. Make sure this setting is off and it should just be collapsed but you'll still see the bar:

Raith 19 Aug @ 1:06pm
Hey I accidentally closed the designator shapes menu when I was going through them and it no longer comes up, how do I get it back?
arl85 18 Aug @ 1:28pm
thanks, that was really fast!
Merthykins  [author] 18 Aug @ 1:23pm
Update pushed to address those issues.
Merthykins  [author] 18 Aug @ 1:06pm
Ah yeah, should have a scroll bar. I'll get that fixed.

Also good idea to set thickness to 1 when using vanilla mode! Will address that as well.
arl85 18 Aug @ 1:03pm
Just a quick issue I found: it seems that the settings page misses some keys at the end (I expect a decrese thickness button, too, for example). Also would be nice to have a scroll bar on the right, to clearly express that page can be scrolled.
https://imgur.com/a/lRsvekw

Also, if setting thickness and then switching to vanilla mode the shapes added by the mod keep the thickness (but there's no way to decrease it without going back to mod mode). Not all shapes, just the added one: for example rectangle uses standard 1 tile thickness while midpoint circles uses the mod thickness.
I suggest to revert to standard 1 tile thickness when ALT-disabling mod, if possible.
Merthykins  [author] 18 Aug @ 9:04am
Lol, glad you like it!

*installs Odyssey*
*uninstalls Designator Shapes*

GG, thanks for service, o7 and all that.

*actually uses the in-game circle tool*
*whole body shudder*
*reinstalls Designator Shapes*

I was weak. And I apologise.
Merthykins  [author] 17 Aug @ 10:49am
Oh, whoops! At one point in testing it I did have a tooltip but then I dropped it along the way somehow. I've added the tooltip back.

I've also added a setting in the mod settings to determine whether it uses vanilla behavior, shape-based behavior, or adds the setting in the play settings. By default it will use the vanilla bounding box behavior.

However, as a middle ground, because certain shapes don't allow for dragging anyway and have always blocked the vanilla bounding box behavior (flood fill, sunlamp/trade beacon, custom-size stamp shapes), these will always use the shape-based bounding box when using the designator shapes palette.

Additionally, conduits now default to rectangle instead of line. If that's contentious, I can add a setting.
VitaKaninen 17 Aug @ 9:03am
About the new button, I think this is something that people will either want to have active all the time, or never at all. I don't think they will be toggling it on a regular basis. Can you give us a way to remove the button from the bottom right of the screen, or just move the setting to the options menu?

Also, there is no mouseover text for the new button to describe what it does or which mod it comes from. It took me forever to find the new button icon in my mods folder so I could identify which mod it came from and what it did.

Also, I think the toggle effect is backward. When the option is activated, there is no drag box, but when the button is deactivated, the box shows up. Maybe that is intended, but it seems backward to me.
Petre27 17 Aug @ 12:40am
Thank you!
onemorecup 16 Aug @ 4:08pm
Thank you!
Merthykins  [author] 16 Aug @ 2:41pm
Sure, I can look into that.

I can also carve grids out into a separate mod.
