Considering this was done in 2012 I'll assume this is as finished as it will ever get

Which is a shame because I could absolutely see this expanded to the admirals.

Yes. Make the Khan a ranged great hero with melee capacity, kind of like what Ships do. Frigates attack at range but if attacked by a prifateer they can defend adiquately. If it doesn't already work for the Khan it definitely should.

Could heroes get some animations or maybe get re-textured to look like horsemen/knght/calvalry/tank depending on era? That way the unit would feel more like a hero and less like a guy who sits on a horse and waits for his enemies to magically disappear.

Since they no longer stack with other units it would be nice to give them an ability like a range attack ability that only works vs cities or maybe 10% more flanking bonus.

Awesome little mod! Might i make a suggestion? Was kinda surprised to see Great Admirals were still pacifists lol, what about Flag Ships? Can still be consumed to heal all units but can fight as well, maybe a ranged unit that can only fire in adjacent tiles? Like the machine gunners

if you do decide to put this in i liked how the Heroes strength and movement adjusted to the era!

This would be perfect if you had a version that eliminates the Citadel's "culture bomb" effect. I hate that and need a mod to get rid of it.

Also, it would be great to see a mod that eliminates non-contiguous cultural borders. The map get so ugly when a player's cultural border "jumps" over a neighbor's.

This mod works amazing and cool. I played this mod with Reform and Rule. I saw an AI adopted Military Tradition(+25% with general stacked). I must say this works fantastic! The enemy general is a beast. 34 str vs 30 str gattling and about to skill it.

This mod is obviously dead, the author hasn't even updated the page since it released. Can someone pick up this mod and take it further? Add attack and defense animations and include Mongolia's Khan replacement and Great Admirals?

This mod goes really well with the expanded unit upgrade trees by BlouBlou. Your Hero units can last you the whole game if you use them wisely and really can act as an anchor for a war campaign. Renaming them really lets you role play your armies. Its been said already but a combat animation would be great, or at least some way to get rid of the long glitched pause. Watching a hero get bombed by 4+ airplanes will literally take 5 minutes. Also Admirals should definitely be included in this mod, they are so boring and useless otherwise...

Great mod, i don't seem to have any issues with so far, i would however like to see the Khans(mongolian great generals) and great admirals be combat units as well.

Under G&K I used your Great Heroes Mod with great joy. I am wondering now, if your Mod with still runs under BNW (I did not have the opportunity to test it myself, I will get to join the BNW-fun just in a couple of days). Heros are way too powerful, they kill everything even on defence by information, and lack of combat animation means they spend like five minutes being bombarded and not responding, only to have thei opponent drop dead.

Another issue. I played with Anno Domini Mod and I noticed other civilizations were earning the Hero's. I assume this is from Barbarian encampments but I wasn't earning any GG points from the Barbarians, which is normal. I'm not sure if this issue effects any other mods or using just this mod.

I was playing with Unofficial Patch and G&K Enhanced Mods. I was China, and when I reached emabarking units, my hero wasn't able to embark. This was annoying as I was on an Island map. Anyone else have this issue?

How does this work with Honor's Warrior Code Policy, where you have to be stacked with the general to get a bonus?

I'm going to use this in my next playthrough but an idea/suggestion:

Maybe make the great hero add happiness to the empire while he is alive but then decreases the happiness of the empire for a few turns when he dies (like in real life a hero can lift morale but then decrease it if he is killed in battle) but this decrease in happiness would not apply if he is used to make a citadel or something.

So yeah, at information era, my hero is 1-shotting stealth bombers and taking 7 damage.. 120 strength may be a tad bit much

This mod is great; it does a good job of making me actually care about my generals.
My main gripe for this mod is how long it takes to use them in combat. Since great generals dont have an "attacking" animation, they just walk over the enemy and wait til lthe naimaiton times out, which can be time consuming.

As someone pointed before, this mods needs to be combined with the Hakkapeliitta mod. Otherwise that unit loses its only special trait and gets nothing in return.

I think it would be best if you had, along with adapting them by era, the option to merge them with another unit. For example, have a button that you click and select an adjacent unit, the units will combine and:

+Damage for the combined unit
-No more "Great general nearby" bonus

In an example of where this would work better would be in eras with multiple units of the same type. You would start with the lower tier, but if you combined the unit with the stronger, more advanced one then it would take those statistics.

Not sure if it was intended in your design, or if it was just missed, but the mod does not effect the "Khan" General for the Mongol empire.
